she might not show but still had symptoms and the baby was active and moving inside. But there has been cases of Cryptic Pregnancies shared by the mothers who went through it themselves, and I fear of the possibility of the smallest chance of 0.210526% of it happening more than learning early on around the first trimester of the pregnancy about actually being pregnant. imagine carrying a human being without your knowledge then your daily routine does not consider whether you are eating raw food like sushi 🍣 or drinks with an alcohol content.

There's a whole show about cryptic pregnancies. I think it's called "I didn't know I was pregnant." Some of the stories are so wild.

yeah i can imagine. thinking they were only complaining of what maybe an IBS or appendicitis or really bad period cramps, but the next day they were holding their baby weighing 3 kilograms

I've been trying for a baby so I think I would know if I were pregnant. But I can totally see how someone can go into labor and not even consider pregnancy. I have IBS, EPI, and PCOS. Missed periods are normal. I once went two years without one. My stomach issues mean I'm frequently in the restroom and dealing with severe bloating and pain. If I suddenly started experiencing labor I might just think that my stomach is acting up.

I had my tubes removed 4 years ago and have IBS. I know it's damn near impossible for me to be pregnant but whenever I have the beginning of a flare up for the condition I know I have and understand pretty well my first thought is still: oh no I'm not pregnant right?!

I can easily imagine how someone with any number of similar conditions, especially someone who has not had a baby yet, would jump to the opposite conclusion. I think at this point in my life (youngest is 8) I'm more afraid of having to raise a whole entire additional human from scratch than I am of random health issues so my brain just has to double check we actually got our tubes removed...

1 in 500 going unnoticed before 20 weeks seems like a decent amount, actually. 1 in 2500 going unnoticed until birth is more than I would have expected as well.

My baby barely moved at all and I regularly would go to the dr to get ultra sounds because I felt nothing.

Cryptic pregnancy is honestly a fear of mine lol. No time to prepare, haven’t been saving money, no prenatal care or scans or vitamins or anything , probably been doing all sorts of stuff you aren’t supposed to do. My head might actually explode from the anxiety.
