Post image
7 Upvotes

I’m using Apple TV 4k latest gen with homepods 2 as stereo. I can’t click dolby atmos to turn it off. I guess there’s no other option, or I’m missing something? Also, I can’t change the format.

Question/Support Playing NPR+ Podcasts

I got a HomePod mini for Christmas for use in the garage. Both my kids have one and they are quite handy. I wanted a way can do more with Siri without needing to take my phone out of my pocket when wrenching the better.

I’m an avid podcast listener. I subscribe to NPR+ and all the npr podcasts in my podcast app are the plus version. When I ask my HomePod to play one of these pod casts it plays the regular version with ads. If I ask for the plus version “play podcast planet money plus” no podcast is found.

I assume there’s something in the setup I’m missing but I’m at a loss. One thing I have realized in the 2 years we’ve had home pods the are a real pita to troubleshoot.

Thanks.

Question/Support Finally got a second HomePod to use with my Apple TV. What movie would you use to show off the sound mix on these (with Dolby Atmos preferred)?

Question/Support Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong?

So I have a HomePod mini stereo pair attached to my Apple TV 4K that I use as the primary sound system on my TV. Only one of them seems to be able to display the temperature and humidity at any given moment. The other one always says no response in HomeKit. Unfortunately it’s not the same one that always shows no response, they take turns. As soon as I restart the one experiencing the problem, the other one begins showing no response. When playing music, only one of them at a time will light up. They both play music, but only one lights up. And they take turns lighting up as well. when one of them is lighting up the other one will not. And whichever one is lighting up and showing the temperature in HomeKit, is the one Siri will respond through. Siri just will not respond out of the other one at all. If it was always the same HomePod mini that was acting up, that would narrow down my options to fix it, but with both of them taking turns acting up I don’t know where to begin. When they are separated as two separate devices with two separate IP addresses, this doesn’t happen. It only happens when I create a stereo pair. Anybody else experiencing this?

Question/Support 2 homepod minis as tv speakers

Found a really good deal on a pair of homepod minis, originally was going to go the soundbar route but stumbled upon this. I recently got an apple tv, 99% sure its the "HD 4th gen" Questions I have: How is the sound quality? Better or worse than a sound bar? I saw in another post that my tv and apple tv will need to support ARC, what is this and how can I tell if my tv supports it? I will be able to control them using my apple tv remote correct? Will I still be able to use them as a standard homepod (ask siri for things, etc). if theres anby important info that I simply didnt ask about and is importrant please let me know, thanks!

Question/Support Constantly Disconnecting From AppleTV Airplay

There have been no changes on my network but the past two weeks, my HomePods which I use as a stereo pair with my AppleTV are constantly disconnecting which is driving me nuts.

Anyone know if the recent update broke anything? I’ve tried resetting HomePods to factory and re-adding them but the issue continues.

I’m at the point where I’m willing to go out and buy a soundbar to plug into the ARC hdmi input on my TV and call it a day. Anyone else see an increase in disconnections recently or found a solution to this?

P.S - I even ensured that the AppleTV and HomePods are on the same band. Tried changing bands but no luck.

Question/Support Apple Podcast on HomePod

Homepod: "Oh, sure. You can pause this podcast anytime you want. No problem at all. But when you come back to it, we may rewind it 3 minutes from that pause point or 6 minutes in the future or maybe we'll just start it back at the beginning. It'll be totally random. Won't that be fun?!"

Question/Support HomePod Mini failed in Apple Music

I have a problem with my HPminis. I have them in estero and with Apple Music every 2 or 3 songs, the song usually ends a couple of seconds before and the one that remains on the list, starts playing immediately at second ten, after a few seconds it stops and starts again from scratch. This only happens on Apple Music, with YouTube it doesn't happen.

Question/Support HomePod Delay on AirPlay

Hello, I bought 2 HomePod minis to use as a stereo pair. They’re great for playing music, but when I try to watch a movie from my Mac and route the audio to the HomePods through the Control Center, there’s a significant delay. However, when I try watching using the Infuse app and route the audio through the AirPlay icon, the delay is minimal and not an issue.

So what’s the logic here? Isn’t it using AirPlay in both cases anyway?

I know they’re not designed for gaming, but I also want to route the sound of the games I play to them, yet the delay makes it impossible. How do some apps manage to support this without the delay?

Discussion Just an appreciation post about the HomePod gen 2

Can we all appreciate the very low deep smooth bass of the homepod gen 2!? It’s really sub bass territory it’s so good! And it’s crystal clear high frequency response!

It’s really amazing to listen to music through it whether it’s single or stereo paired!

Question/Support HomePod OG 18.2

I’m seeing connection issues with 18.2 on my OGs connecting to 5ghz that had not been an issue at all prior. I’m looking to find out if any one else has encountered something similar.

Before you tell me it’s WiFi, I have very good 5ghz density in my 1500sq ft single story ranch that was laid out based on an RF survey. I have no dead spots and almost any device has a minimum snr of at least 65db as reported by the network controller. I have 5 other minis that have no issue and have even put the minis in the same place as the OGs and see no issues. Thus far I have reset both OGs including deleting them from apple Home and from my apple.id.

After the reset I’m able to add them back but within a day they’re back to “I’m having trouble connecting to the internet” BS again.

Question/Support Problem with Apple Music on stereo HomePods

For the past few weeks, my stereo HomePods connected to a ATV refuse to play any music. Siri confirms the request and then says:

Sorry, there's a problem with Apple Music

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, have you a found a solution?

I have reset the HomePods and ATV multiple times to no avail. I also contacted Apple Support but they weren't able to resolve the issue. We did a screen share and they confirmed that all of my settings are correct.

Question/Support Switching from Marshall Stanmore II

Hello. I'm considering switching my Stanmore Il for the 2nd Gen HomePod. What matters me the most is the audio quality. You think will be a bad idea?

Also, a friend told me to get the 1st gen. The quality said is better. Generally is better. Any help?|

Discussion Hey Siri, Timers?

Ok, just venting, but this has to get fixed.

I have been using HomePods daily since the OV came out,
and am generally very happy with them.

But for the past year or so I'm having this super annoying behaviour with timers.
I use timers for everything.
Reminding me to take a break, when my next call is, when I have to turn off the oven to avoid burning my dinner.

"Hey Siri, set a 90 minute timer!" - "I have set a one and a half our timer."
Some time later, because I want to know how much longer.
"Hey Siri, timer?" - "It's been cancelled." - "Hey Siri, wtf?!" - "I won't respond to that."
And it's not rare. It's about 80% of the time.

This has worked for years.
How is this regression even possible.

Fuuu ... another burned cake :(

Question/Support HomePod and Apple-TV

Hi y'all

I am wondering, we broke the bank and bought an HomePod (full size) and the Apple TV 4K.

Now when we set up the tv to use the HomePod as default audio, it does not play sound. (maybe with Apple Music for 3 seconds and then hangs) and Apple TV and all things like YouTube do not play sound. We both reset the devices and tried putting another Home location in the home app, and another Apple ID but it keeps happening. is this issue known or am I the only one having this.

Thanks in advance for anyone their inputs

Question/Support "Siri Stop" "It sounds like your symptoms are severe. Contact your healthcare provider for assistance."

We've had HomePods all throughout our house for more than a year, and we set timers on them daily. For a year, we've stopped every timer with either "Siri Stop" or "Siri stop the timer," and it's always just... stopped. Today, twice now, when I say "Siri Stop," it says something about having severe symptoms and encouraging me to call a doctor? What is going on here? Did something change? How would I turn this off?

Question/Support Automation help

Hi all, I need your advice on setting up scenes and automations. Honestly I’m tearing my hair out at this point because none of the YouTube tutorials do everything I want. My needs are simple - a morning routine.

  1. I want HomePod to play my alarm, ideally the ones in the Alarm app on my iPhone so I can toggle them easily.
  2. After I stop my alarm, I want my curtains to open.
  3. Then I want HomePod to tell me the date and weather forecast.

I’ve run into several issues: 1. As I understand it, HomePod alarms are separate from iPhone alarms. The automation to do anything after I stop an alarm is in the Personal Automation section, so it’s only available on the iPhone. 2. Scenes can only open my curtains and get HomePod to play audio from Apple Music (acting like an alarm) but not tell me the date and weather. There’s no “convert to shortcut” in Scenes. 3. I can use a HomePod automation with “convert to shortcut” but there’s no Intercom or Speak action.

Please help.

Question/Support Cutting the power off frequently

I’m cosidering getting a HomePod mini for my flat. The thing is everytime I leave the flat and remove the card by the entrance (similar to a hotel room) all power outlets (except the fridge and dishwasher) are switched off. Will this cause issues with the mini? Will it turn on on its own or will I have to pair it and set it up after each "blackout"? Anyone got an experience with this?

Question/Support Multiroom Audio Lag Between ATV with Soundbar and ATV with HomePods

I’ve got two Apple TVs set up:

  • Living Room: Connected to a Toshiba TV, which outputs audio via eARC to a JBL 5.1 Soundbar.
  • Bedroom: Connected to a TV and paired with a set of HomePods.

Here’s the issue: When I play music in multiroom mode, there’s a slight audio lag between the two setups. I’m guessing it’s because the living room audio is going through a wired connection (via eARC), while the bedroom setup relies on Wi-Fi.

Is there any way to fix or minimize this lag? Any tips would be much appreciated!

Question/Support Dumb question? Homepods on different floors, routing?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have biggie homepods attached to an ATV in my living room and a set of Mini’s in my office in the basement, not “attached” to anything and am having some cognitive dissonance around my basic understanding of how this ecosystem works - or how I thought it worked, I guess.

Why, when I’m playing music from my ipad to the stereo pair of mini’s in the basement, does it seem to be routing the audio through the upstairs?

(there’s an ATV down here too, I have it on an old 42 inch TV that I’m thinking about replacing / mounting on the wall so its not plugged in / setup at the moment

Question/Support Siri Request

Is it possible to ask Siri to perform two different actions in a single request?

I’ve been trying to ask my HomePods to play a specific song and then another specific song in sequence, but it only plays the first song.

For example, I’ve been saying: “Hey Siri, can you play Fix You by Coldplay and then Leave the Door Open by Bruno Mars?”

It seems Siri doesn’t queue the second song. Is there a way to achieve this?

Question/Support HomePod with YT Music

I’m wondering if it’s normal for Siri to announce when asked to play a song: “Playing now [Music Name] from [My Name]’s playlist on YouTube Music,” before actually playing the song when I request specific music or playlists.

If so, is there a way to change this behavior? Or is the experience different when using Apple Music?
