Highsmith value? Discussion

Was listening to the Locked on Heat podcast and one of the hosts mentioned how Memphis missed out on DFS after offering Kennard, Konchar and a heavily protected first.

Considering Highsmith is a similar player to DFS, maybe a bit worse offensively but better defensively + hes younger and cheaper. Memphis could be considering him as another option.

Would you accept this same package for him? Salaries do not match, I'm just asking to understand what his value would be.

Hell nah. Plus, Highsmith is one of those players that I think we won't get proper value for him. Rather keep him.

No one's offering a 1st for Highsmith. He's undervalued in the trade market. Teams will try to get him for salary filler and maybe a pick swap.

And honestly, I don't think I even wanna give him up for just one 1st rounder. He's too valuable for us, plus on a super affordable contract. 5 million per yer.

He's elite as a wing defender who's making very little. Why trade him? Elite value for us. But at the same time, no one's looking at him that way, no one's even throwing a first for Highsmith.

I don't see a trade that makes sense for us and whatever team Highsmith gets traded to.

Yeah I don’t think anyone would offer a first for him either. I just wanted to know if people would accept the package that emojis were reportedly offering. Someone else mentioned that Memphis was asking for a Bkn second round pick in exchange, so now it makes sense that they offered a 1st.

I would agree with you if our window wasn’t closed. I think that,  for a team that should consider either rebuilding or getting assets to go for another star, a FRP is more valuable than Highsmith

That's the type of return we'd get for Highsmith. Brooklyn got straight up finessed.

I will start by saying stop listening to that garbage, David is good but Wes is worse than the nephews on this sub with brain dead takes.

Closer to the trade deadline and the front office has picked direction then yes you trade Highsmith for a frp if we are going young. Highsmith is underrated and is on a value contract. If he can become a consistent corner shooter (he is improving) then his value will skyrocket more for us and for trade bait.
