We have so many net negative players right now. Discussion

Terry, Jaime, Jovic, freaking Bam as well. If so many guys are gonna suck at the same time you can't expect much success. Get Herro some help.

Even Pelle/Ware was unplayable today. It’s getting really ugly

I hate to say it, but you gotta start looking at coaching. Spo has been off this year.

This is a team relying on guys who don’t even know who they are to be consistent in a role

Crazy how Duncan always escapes the blame, due is a starter who averages 11 points and shoots 41% from the floor while being the worst defender on the floor. Like this iteration of Miami has always meant to be a gritty, grind out wins type team but now we just dont even defend at all, Herro, Rozier, Duncan are just asleep at the wheel on defence. Like Dru was so valuable cause finally we dont have guys just strolling into the paint off the softest screen every 30 seconds but here we are again

Do you know how many games we would have lost without Duncan's shooting? Sure he is a bad defender but there have been countless games where he has saved our butt.

Exhibit A being this game without him this would have been a 20+ blowout easily.

Oh and btw he has a +58 plus minus this season.

He's a good player, I like him. He helps us a lot, but that doesn't make him completely faultless, the Herro-Robinson backcourt has been a defensive disaster for 4 years and we're seeing why again recently. It's especially true when everyone loves to talk about contracts in this sub, we're paying Dunc 20mil to put up 11 points on 41% shooting and bad defence, that's terrible. And please +/- is just a garbage stat, it tells you more about who a person plays with than how good they are

Well he is literally the only one with a positive +- this game so it's clearly not about who he is playing with.

I will agree with you about the contract though.

Does one game erase every other game? He was -12 in a 1 point win against the Magic with 0 points literally the game before.

I still say he is a more positive player than not but maybe he should come off the bench again. Too bad we don't have a good player to put next to Herro.

I agree yeah I think him coming off the bench would help a lot. Our team just needs to be able to get stops, especially with a lot of guys playing bad offence right now.

+/- is only useful to look at over very long stretches, where the rest of the lineup surrounding that player has varied. It doesn't mean anything for a single game.

And even over whole seasons, it can be misleading. I remember (I think the season before last?) most of the time when we put Duncan in, we would also put in Haywood to cover for him on D because Dunc was a traffic cone. That would skew Dunc's +/- just because he was being played as part of a set that masked his deficiency.

Herro goes for steals never been that guy to meet you at the rim

Im not asking Herro to be a rim protector wtf, I just want him to stay in front of someone more than once a game

Get Herro some help on offense and get Bam some help on defense. Everything is just ugly with this team. Our center can’t hit shots and our guards our traffic cones on defense which causes our bigs to constantly over help.

This is just horrible roster construction

We cooked cooked. It’s hard to tell what Spo expects out of the young players too. I don’t think taking them out early when things are not going well and throwing anyone else in there is the way to go either. I know we trying to win games, the Heat don’t lose, etc etc but at some point we need to trust new people.
