This barrel fucks. 13.9 is so hot right now.

u/IamWongg Dec 04 '22

I thought we were still on the 12.5 train esp with 12/5 being tomorrow. 13.9 passed not long ago and isn't scheduled to return until after 14.5 shows up next week.

You are actually the one I refer people to lol

11

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '22

There is a google spread sheet out there with all the muzzle devices that you can PW a 13.7 or 13.9 to. Nox is one that comes to mind. Just in case you aren’t sure. I’ll see if I can find it

7

u/scardzombie Dec 03 '22

Thanks for the support!

1

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 03 '22

Any idea if I can fit this in a 13.5” Geissele rail and still fit a suppressor (RC2) on it?

3

u/BH11B Dec 03 '22

Man that would be really tight. I think you need that .5” but hey a little dremel never hurt nothing.

1

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 03 '22

Yeah that’s what I was contemplating didn’t want it too close for comfort. Debating doing this and a little dremel work or just going full chop chop and tossing a 12.5 Core in it!

3

u/TeamSesh-Deadboy Dec 03 '22

I had a 13.5 G$ Mk8 on a 13.9 Hanson and there would not be enough clearance imo. I swapped to the criterion since that's what I initially wanted and went with the Ripcord LDR1 13.13" as it was made to be used with 13.9 barrels. It is basically the same rail as a mk16 (if that's what you were planning on using), but more rigid (middle MLOK slots are covered, more material overall), with a steel barrel nut, and cheaper. I've been loving the 10.75" I put on my 11.5, can't wait to get the 13.13".

2

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 03 '22

I picked up a mk16 on BF for like $160 idk why cause I have no idea what I’m doing with it it just like a good deal and I had money to burn. I figured I’d throw it in the parts pile but now I have a compulsion to complete it into a new upper as soon as possible. I may have ordered a stripped BCM upper just now to go with it…

2

u/mhammond0361 Dec 04 '22

I may or may not have gone a lil crazy on BF as well and may or may not have ordered 2 bcm stripped uppers, 2 m4e1 stripped lowers, among some other things also! Lol

2

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 04 '22

Dude you don’t even want to know, I ordered a m4a1 from brownells on the BF deal, an atlas bipod, an RC2, a stripped BCM upper a Giessele buffer tube, spring h2 and 13.5 rail…. A magpul grip, bcm stock, radian CH, and a lmt mars, I got a little carried away.

2

u/mhammond0361 Dec 04 '22

I did too, I alwo ordered a larue mbt-2s trigger, radian CH, 500rds of 9mm, a psa 14.5 chf FN barreled upper, and an apex flat faced forward set teigger for my m&p which came with 150 rds of 9mm for free. Lol. I am done for a bit tho. I think...

1

u/TeamSesh-Deadboy Dec 03 '22

I feel ya lol, I grabbed a blem SSP during their Halloween blem sale. Did not need it, but said fuck it. Testing it against my larue mbt2s at the moment

1

u/mhammond0361 Dec 07 '22

How'd it stack up against the mbt-2s? I have both the flat faced andnnoe the curved. You know your buying to much ar shit when you get it in and dont even get excited to put it in something. Lol, all my ar's gave good triggers in em already. Worst one I have is a Schmidt nickel trickery which is still damn good for the money. Think I'll slide that into my epc9 for now till I wanna swing the 140 or so for a cmc ar9 trigger.

1

u/TeamSesh-Deadboy Dec 07 '22

It took some getting used to for sure. With the larue I knew where the wall was, so the moment the safety was off I had the trigger prepped ready to go. With the SSP, when I dry fired it the first time, I tried prepping it and the trigger fired lol. After a bit of dry fire reps I had it down, and really enjoy it. I still prefer the larue, but the SSP is still really good. I haven't swapped the larue back in, so will most likely keep the SSP in there for the time being

1

u/BH11B Dec 04 '22

Man full send then. Do little bit of gunsmiffin and alumahyde the end.

1

u/thismyotheraccount2 Dec 04 '22

You’ve never seen me dremel

2

u/keenansmith61 Dec 04 '22 edited Dec 04 '22

That will absolutely not fit. It barely fits on a 14.5 and that rail.

Edit: why downvotes for answering the question? I'm not wrong.

1

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 04 '22

Dremel go burrrrrr

1

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 04 '22

I’m just messing. Your good man thanks for the insight lol

1

u/SpiveyXIII Dec 03 '22

No, I know by experience. Got a 14.5 for the g13.5" and a m76 13 for the 13.9. one build turned to two.

1

u/scardzombie Dec 04 '22

I’ll let you know when i mock everything up! I’ve been scouring the web on info for that particular info and i come up with ether people parroting out of their ass and or people with vague pictures of similar setups. As far as the info I’ve been able to gather is your going to have to shim the shoulder of the threads enough to be able to mount anything. Ive got a 0.25 shim from kac on order that’s supposed to help with clearance. Ive also found tntesales recommends the same thing for their pre built uppers with geissele rails with surefire mounts.

1

u/renegadeGDI Dec 04 '22

No way, you really need your rail to be at least .625 shorter than the barrel, preferably .700

1

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 04 '22

It’s about .5-.6 if you don’t want any gap at all but the thing is some rails are marketed at a certain length and they aren’t exactly that length they may be .2-.3 off. Same with some barrels. So you really can’t always go by the lengths manufacturers post. That’s why I was asking did anyone have any experience with the two together. Thank tho!

1

u/renegadeGDI Dec 04 '22

Just remember your threads are 625 so anything less than that is playing with fire under normal conditions. Good luck

1

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 04 '22

True but a lot of times the FH with a can is gonna stick out about .1-.2 from the shoulder of the barrel depending on the system.

1

u/tlove01 Dec 04 '22

You cannot. The SLR is the longest that fits the can without chopping I am pretty sure.

1

u/scardzombie Dec 08 '22

Hey, update. Literally just installed the barrel. And with the .25 kac shim and a few shims from the shim kit included with the non warcomp closed tine flash hider i can fit a warden onto the end no problem. Now given im going to need to check for concentricity when my rc2 comes in, but as far as giving enough space you’ll be gtg.

2

u/East_Coast_Tactical Dec 08 '22

I guess it’s true what they say not all heroes wear capes…. Unless you have a cape on while reading this… but on a serious note thanks man!!

3

u/renegadeGDI Dec 04 '22

I love this barrel, perfectly gassed, I added a few shims and pinned it with an SF3P to meet rifle length.

2

u/BuyGunsNotCrack Dec 04 '22

Still waiting on 14.5s to drop again

2

u/Wonderful-Reward3828 Dec 04 '22

Do you guys offer a headspaced bolt like criterion does?

2

u/MilitiaArmory Dealer Dec 05 '22

We do not. Sorry!

1

u/Wonderful-Reward3828 Dec 05 '22

Dang. Thx anyways!

2

u/happydog556 Dec 03 '22

Is this the best barrel out there?

10

u/dswen17 Dec 03 '22

It’s extremely hard to beat. I have the 11.5 and 13.9 versions of the core. Both are gassed incredibly well suppressed and unsuppressed. They are both extremely accurate as well. I dont myself using anything else in the future.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '22

Same. Every build going forward will have a core barrel. They're just so nice.

4

u/whatwouldstoner22 Dec 03 '22

If you want to get to the steep part of the price/performance curve and you're looking for the shortest OAL non-NFA with a can, probably.

If you're not suppressing just go 16" so you don't have to deal with P&W hassle. If you want a barrel that does the job within the parameters of 95% of people just get a BA Hanson or BAD Kaiju. Or don't, I'm not your dad.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '22

The BA hanson is excellent for its pricepoint, I have the 12.5 version. Not as accurate as my 13.9 criterion but still really good

2

u/ndmak Dec 03 '22

i’ve been curious about that bad attitude barrels. what makes you recommend them?

3

u/whatwouldstoner22 Dec 03 '22

The reputation they (BAD) have earned with their other products, and the fact that the barrel stats suggest they're targeting the same use case as the Core (except w/o chrome lining). There aren't a ton of 13.9" mid-length gas barrels. I did forget, Faxon has a Gunner profile 13.9 that you might also consider.

I think for most people whatever one of these offerings they can spend the least on will satisfy their functional requirements, but what's more important when it comes down to it is feeling like their purchase was good value. So go with whatever gives you that dopamine hit and tell yourself it was perfect for your needs, you probably won't be wrong.

1

u/tgulli Dec 03 '22

phenomenal chrome lined barrel that can be pin and welded with the right muzzle device at 16~ inches, relatively lighter weight where it doesn't compromise the firing schedule as much

0

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '22

Yes

1

u/poopy_buttholer Dec 04 '22

My pipes are primo, champ. Why don’t you ask Trey Anastasio about my pipes?
