Seems like the extra 150 for the henry would be better no?

InRangeTV says if you're going to get one of these lever action 357s, get the 1873 made by Taylor/Uberti/Miroku.

It's a bit more expensive, but the 1873 is still considered by a lot of SASS folks to be the best action/most customizable.

My research lead me to the same conclusion, but I couldn’t stomach double the price for a range toy.

I mean you are paying 3x the price of the Rossi it better be damn good

You can find them for $1200 fairly often, but yeah, the price difference is significant.
For people who want a fun cowboy gat, get the Rossi. If you like customization, taking guns apart, or want to do SASS, get the 1873

The R92 can be slicked up nicely as well for not a lot of money -- deburring, sanding and a spring kit will do a lot.
But you'll never get as fast an action due to the toggle lock versus dual locking block between the 1873 and 1892 designs -- it requires substantially less movement for the toggle lock, but it's also weaker.

The Miroku would be the winchester branded. I bought one and the one upside to the 73 is winchester didn't add a tang safety to it like they did the other models. My other understanding is on the 92 and others they modified the trigger mechanism. At some point I want to find one of the older Browning 92's as they were also Miroku made, but without the modern changes required by winchester.

I’ve been snooping around on SASS forums and it seems a lot of the Henry’s are not super well regarded for whatever reason. Plus free 22 plinker temped me in this direction.

Rossi Lever actions are often referred to as a functional project, and my personal experience finds that to be accurate. The action likely won't be as smooth. They may have an occasional feeding issue(it may be a little harder to get certain bullet types to feed). They'll go bang, though. If you want to scratch the rooty tooty cowboy shooty itch and only shoot a few boxes a year, this will likely be fine. As others have pointed out, if you're doing competition level stuff, I'd look elsewhere.
If I could get a Marlin or Henry for slightly more, I'd personally do that but I'm a bit of a Marlin guy.

It seemed like a killer deal, so I snagged it. A new model was just recently introduced in 357; it looks like an 1884/Marlin clone. The 30s-30s seem well received, so I figured I'd roll the dice, as the old model 92s are priced around this, and this seems to be a "premium" model in comparison.

Great deal to be sure. I have the R95 (30-30) Triple Black and it is so fun to shoot. I would love this in 357 but I'd like to stay married.

is this a copy of any particular gun? The rossi r92’s are copies of the winchester 1892, but this seems more like a marlin?

It's a copy of the Marlin 336. Supposedly close enough that some parts and accessories are interchangeable.

I believe there’s a 16 inch version with threads I’ve seen on Gunbroker but Rossi’s website is a mess so I couldn’t ID. Plus I was after a 10 rounder
