Damnit I just bought a RC2 for $917 shipped.. I honestly woulda got this instead

19

u/prmoore11 14d ago

That’s still a good deal in today’s market and the RC2 is an important part of suppressor history.

17

u/Carbs_Are_Satan 14d ago

Never heard anyone say they didn’t like their rc2.

14

u/anarchthropist 14d ago

Don't fret. the RC2 is pretty awesome. Its history is undisputed at any rate.

and honestly, I love the surefire/B&T quick attach/detach system. Its convenient, secure, and reliable.

1

u/jake55555 14d ago

That’s pretty good. Got a link?

-16

u/GuysLeeFanboy 14d ago

I’d rather have a battle proven can than a new one anyways

20

u/MisplacedCHEE 14d ago

As somebody who has the RC2 and WB, the WB is straight up better in all ways. I honestly have no use for my RC2 anymore.

6

u/fuck_llama 14d ago

Surely the WB isn’t as rugged as a surefire, right?

You can beat the living shit out of a surefire and it’s gonna be fine

12

u/MisplacedCHEE 14d ago

The WB is made entirely of 718 inconel with waffle erosion walls, while the Surefire only has lower rating (618?) inconel baffles and a stainless body. I'd bet the WB is far more durable.

3

u/nope_noway_ 14d ago

Guess I’ll get this next and see what the fuss is about

3

u/fuck_llama 14d ago

I know inconel is great at high temps but figured steel can take more of a beating at low temps and still be just fine

10

u/MisplacedCHEE 14d ago

It's not just durability, the WB has a way better tone and less gas compared to my RC2 on my 14.5 Mid. Plus the Surefire mounting system is overall subpar, mine carbon locked if you looked at it wrong.

0

u/prmoore11 14d ago

Do you plan to shoot at any round count that would even remotely approach the durability required?

3

u/fuck_llama 14d ago

Low temp as in zero rounds, but can be beat to shit on the end of a rifle like my 7.62 RC2. Nice flex though

-3

u/prmoore11 14d ago

What? Lol

My point is if you think you are going to break a WB before a RC2, you are nuts lol

5

u/fuck_llama 14d ago

That’s why I was asking, ya dingus

12

u/wowthatsucked 14d ago

Really tempted, but I’m saving myself for the Kitty Kat and Saigon Peacekeeper in 2025.

6

u/redacted_robot 14d ago

Those and the BBK. And the Akbar.

Fuck, I might have a problem.

Nah, I can stop any time I want... maybe

1

u/Vorpalis 14d ago

Details on those?

5

u/wowthatsucked 14d ago

Kitty Kat is their short 5.56. Uses a mini-Spooky mount.

Saigon Peacekeeper is the handgun .45 cal suppressor.

Full lineup is https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/comments/1d0fs2h/clarification_on_cat_suppressor_lineup/

3

u/MTUTMB555 14d ago

Man I have been waiting to get my first .45 can and I was hoping CAT would make one. This is music to my ears

1

u/DeadSilent7 13d ago

Impatiently awaiting the Kitty Kat myself

1

u/quadRail4000 13d ago

Really looking forward to the SP for my FNX too

3

u/toastwithreddit 14d ago

How is the backpressure on this compared to huxwrx?

13

u/M16iata 14d ago

Hux is zero back pressure out of ten

This is like a one out of ten

1

u/tragesorous 11d ago

Jay is that you?

12

u/prmoore11 14d ago

Best 556 can available currently. If you want one, buy it.

4

u/Averitt13 14d ago

B&T SRBS is pretty darn good as well

1

u/Soulshot96 13d ago

I've seen no data to support it being even in the same league, and a ton of mediocre reviews from end users as well.

Smells like typical overhyped B&T to me tbh.

3

u/herogerik 14d ago

I'd clarify that to low back pressure "K" can.

10

u/prmoore11 14d ago

My opinion, so no lol.

When you consider almost everything you want in a 556 suppressor, the WB ticks almost every single box.

1

u/M16iata 14d ago

What host(s) are you running your WB on?

2

u/prmoore11 14d ago

Mainly my 11.5, though I’ve tested it on 14.5 and 16. I have another one coming that will live on my 14.5.

1

u/M16iata 14d ago

Is the 11.5 a middy?

2

u/prmoore11 14d ago

No. Tuned carbine feels the same and more reliable IMO.

2

u/M16iata 14d ago

Tuned with a BRT? Or???

1

u/prmoore11 14d ago

BRT tubes

LS5 and PTR Vent would like a word

https://pewscience.com/rankings

24

u/BlueJay-- 14d ago

I can't wait to add an 8 inch long silencer to my shorty 556

2

u/prmoore11 14d ago

Exactly lol

5

u/Electronic-Regret522 14d ago

LS5?

3

u/redacted_robot 14d ago

Radical Defense. SS has them with free stamps rn. 282 and Ti. Also a short CS version, and 762 versions.

2

u/Electronic-Regret522 13d ago

Thanks!

1

u/Peepeepoopoobuttbutt 13d ago

I have RD's CS5 (haynes) and their SASS (ti) suppressors. Very happy with them.

I also have the Flow 556k, and it stays on the rifle at the farm in a safe, doesn't get used that much compared to the CS5 and Turbo T2

3

u/joeg26reddit 14d ago

Check juicey media on YouTube

1

u/blancs3030 13d ago

Yeah juicy it's saying the dead air Lazarus 6 is quieter.

8

u/OnlyPatricians 14d ago edited 14d ago

PTR Vent 3 is 8 inches long without a mount and there's no good longevity testing on the porosity. If you're going to buy a non-K size, the Flow 556ti performs better at the ear than the Vent 3 about as much as the Vent 3 does better at the muzzle than the Flow 556ti.

-4

u/prmoore11 14d ago edited 14d ago

I’m aware of the rankings. With everything considered, it’s the best available.

Anyone who suggests buying the LS5 is a clown giving more money to DA.

Edit: I am an idiot

5

u/wowthatsucked 14d ago

Are you getting the Radical Defense LS5 mixed up with the DA Lazarus 6?

6

u/prmoore11 14d ago

I am because I am stupid

4

u/grayoftheday 13d ago

But you're our stupid

4

u/joeg26reddit 14d ago

What does DA have to do with the LS5?

3

u/prmoore11 14d ago

I am an idiot

u/mhammond0361 14d ago

Anybody got any real world feedback k on the nea Q southpaw yet? Sounds promising.... "insert conflicting Q text jargon". Honestly just curious, I know they're cans are usually decently reviewed..

13

u/prmoore11 14d ago

Why on earth does it sound promising. Nothing about it sounds even remotely interesting.

-6

u/mhammond0361 14d ago

Are u basing that statement off the fact that it's not a newer tech 3d printed can and is a traditional welded stack? It is supposed to be a reduced back pressure design, is essentially k can length and boasts full size noise suppression.seems middle of the rd for duty grade can weight. If it is in fact that, prob to new to truely be tested in that regard. I mean, if it performs, it performs right? So just curious what it is other than not being full flow thru design or 3d printed that makes you say it's not even remotely interesting.

10

u/prmoore11 14d ago

It’s not a K can. It’s not full inconel like the WB. It claims to reduce back pressure by increasing the bore diameter, which is a lazy shitty way to reduce back pressure.

“Boasts full size noise suppression”. Based on what? Peak dB, which we all know is useless for comparing suppressor performance?

It’s overpriced for what it is, like all Q products. And yes, 3D printing is the future.

Does anyone have this and a YHM T2? I have a T2 and I’m wondering if it’s worth the upgrade. TIA

8

u/prmoore11 14d ago

I do. It’s literally not even close. The T2 is a dinosaur at this point.

1

u/OAL_is_over_26 14d ago

That was my exact upgrade path for 556 suppressors. Had a t2 for a couple years and got the cat this year. The reduction in gas to the face alone was worth it for me.

1

u/BPC1994 14d ago

Can someone help out a noob? If I order one to my FFL, I have to pay a $150 NFA transfer, is there no way to have this shipped direct to my door? I thought I read there was a process for that now

5

u/kissmygame17 14d ago

Not from this site. There are some that you can though

1

u/DATzzRIGHT 14d ago

Check out capitol armory if you want it shipped straight to your door. I had an okay experience with them. Expensive because transfer fees are only $75 near me. With a transfer fee of $150 you may be about equal. It was simple for my first suppressor.

1

u/mhammond0361 14d ago

Only if you buy theu silencershop or silencer central or i tank capital armory can do it now as well. Otherwise no.

1

u/Voltron_BlkLion 13d ago

Capitol Armory no longer carries CAT products.

2

u/fvbj999 13d ago

Why is that?

1

u/merc08 14d ago

There's no FFL transfer fee if you use one of the SilencerShop partners.

1

u/kissmygame17 14d ago

Damn didn't know this was that expensive. All accounts say this is a great can though

1

u/The-Avant-Gardeners 13d ago

This or velos

2

u/M16iata 13d ago

I went with this

0

u/FreudianStripper 14d ago

Is this the company with the shitty warranty and cringe website?

1

u/Soulshot96 13d ago

Cringe website, and pretty decent/standard warranty.

0

u/tiger19 13d ago

Yes, it's them. Some posts of first-hand experiences were not so pleasant a few months ago.

1

u/ShredTheGnar5 14d ago

This will probably sell out quick! Woulda snagged one of these instead of a Velos if it was in stock a month ago. Grabbed the Velos for $850 plus tax stamp

3

u/merc08 14d ago

Honestly I'm surprised it's still in stock.  It's been up since Thursday and last I heard they make less than 100 per batch.

1

u/Electronic-Regret522 14d ago

Dang, where?

0

u/Potential_Reality300 14d ago

they're going to release the new ones soon and this isn't even a great price

7

u/M16iata 14d ago

New ones are either going to be larger (super thug) or smaller (kitty kat)

2

u/ShredTheGnar5 14d ago

Will the WB still be available when those new ones come out? Hadn’t heard about those

2

u/M16iata 13d ago

I believe the WB will be phased out by the end of 2025

1

u/ShittyTechnical 13d ago

Is there a specific reassign it’s going to be phased out? That kind of seems like a weird decision

3

u/M16iata 13d ago

From what I’ve gathered it’s because the WB is kind of am in between size can

Not quite a full size, not quite a k can. So with the new offerings the WB is kind of redundant…or at least that was my understanding

1

u/prmoore11 14d ago

There are essentially zero dealer margins, so they are basically the same price all the time.
