Don't design a character that is going to act like an asshole, then say 'but...it's my alignment!' There are ways to play every single alignment that aren't dickish.

Why can't people act like assholes in the game? Its literally roleplaying...

There are asshole types that ruin the game, and ones that don't. This is a game and that game has objectives. If you have made a character that consistently fucks up those objectives when the rest of the party is trying to do them then you are an asshole. Not just your character, but you the player who made them that way. So your character doesn't have to be polite. They can have poor manners. They do, however, have to somehow functionally work in a group going on quests, etc.

And this is where people often fuck up. Because, if your character is a complete and total asshole...is my character is allowed to refuse to be in a group with yours? That is usually discouraged for entirely meta reasons. If not, go for it.

There's a fine line between acting like an asshole in a game and being an asshole to your friends during the campaign
