that's actually incredibly supportive, hilarious and shows a good understanding of the disease.

we like this boss.

I hada boss like this. Dude was extremely supportive of everyone's issues.

We had a alcoholic coworker. He would go with him to meetings and during company outings, make sure no one offers him alcohol.

Another person was diabetic, that boss fought for a mommy and medical room.

He wouldn't fire you if you sucked at the job. He would find you a new position in the company that matches your skill set.

Dude fought for employee rights which is why they fired him.

Wow! What a great boss! Too bad the higher-ups didn't think so. Hopefully he ends up in a better job!

Yeah very unlike my bosses who told me instead of sitting down when my blood sugar is low I should keep a candy bar in my pocket for when it does and keep working haha.

Yikes. Wrong on a few levels there.

OMG yeah the sheer ignorance of people who assume you can just keep going about your day during a low. 🤣

What a fuckin G, actually understanding how insulin works instead of the usual... You take insulin when your blood sugar is low right?

u/JonathanDM7 Sep 09 '24

Those people scare me lol

20

u/99DogsButAPugAintOne Sep 09 '24

Or the people who think you take insulin before eating anything

Or the people who think you can't eat any sugar at all, period

I've used the former to get out of eating nasty looking casseroles though, so it's not all bad

lol I definitely do this too when it comes to what certain coworkers bring to pot lucks.

“My grandpa has that so I understand”

u/SnooRevelations2837 Sep 16 '24

Haha same ones who will grab you a no carb snack for a low. Not how that works lol.

My new boss is also a type 1 diabetic and we have the same insulin pump. I feel we've bonded over it

7

u/BillKlemstanacct Sep 10 '24

Which one of you gets to take it home at night? Do you alternate?

6

u/SgtTreehugger Type 1 Sep 10 '24

He obviously. He is the boss after all

I love my boss he's very concerned when I have any problems related to my diabetes. My job doesn't pay much but I'll be hard pressed to leave it even with lack of benefits because he is a godsend.

Welcome to Dayton.

u/CoachGymGreen56 Sep 10 '24

Yup most people just ask if I'm allowed or supposed to eating something that isn't a piece of cardboard with saw dusk on top of it

2

u/canthearu_ack Type 1 Sep 09 '24

Ok, I like your boss. Well done!

2

u/NoiseyTurbulence Sep 10 '24

Next time you take something in the office as a treat like a dozen donuts from saying maybe Dunkin that has a lid you can’t see through. Don’t put donuts in it and put a vegetable tray.

1

u/Turbulent_Coach_8024 Sep 10 '24

I’m a diabetic not a monster!

2

u/Romerro_Mean Sep 10 '24

Lol. Hilarious

2

u/Fressh86 Sep 10 '24

This is some good stuff to see... they care about you, they understand how insulin/food work, they are making jokes about this.

Awsome boss.

2

u/lullebulle90 Sep 10 '24

Love the engagement. These are very rare.

2

u/ChantillySays Sep 10 '24

Next time suggest they at least have bananas and whipped cream so you have an alternative lol.

1

u/Turbulent_Coach_8024 Sep 10 '24

I don’t think I’d enjoy bananas on brownies but whipped cream might be good.

I’ll make the suggestion! Thanks!

2

u/ChantillySays Sep 10 '24

I meant fruit with natural sugars won't spike your blood sugar lol

1

u/Turbulent_Coach_8024 Sep 10 '24

Oh! Makes more sense now!

2

u/lilGingerSnapp Sep 10 '24

Lmao that was nice of them

2

u/indooroutdoor87 Sep 11 '24

Hell yea! Love that
