Dang. Her Comment Section work accounts for about 60-70% of Daily Wire content I regularly follow (most of the rest of it being the Morning Wire show). She's been awesome, and I'm excited to see what she does next.
Producer Reagan should do just fine. I'm curious to see what new twist she brings to it.

I’m probably more upset about this departure than I should be lol. Weird how parasocial relationships work…
I honestly just hope it’s the truth when she says she wasn’t pushed out, and I hope that there wasn’t excessive drama behind the scenes. Obviously no one at the DW is perfect, but I’d like to believe that, at the end of the day, they’re able to put aside the more arbitrary differences and be friends. I know that probably sounds childish and silly, but I guess I just want the people I watch to be admirable and decent.
Would be really disheartening to learn that they, in fact, may be no different than the mainstream media pundits and personalities they‘ve worked so hard to differentiate themselves from.

I was taken aback, but I understand a little on Candace Owen's. I don't think it was handled properly. This feels not right. Her video seems forced, and I'm not buying what they are selling. The most unsettling thing is that they think they can just replace her with another female anchor. Same show, same name, same headphones.

I don’t have much of an opinion on how they handled things with Candace because it seemed hostile on both sides… and I kind of agreed with them more…
I think the BS videos that came out trying to drum up drama probably colored our views of Brett’s situation which is why I’m holding out hope that things are mutual. It’s also worth noting that Brett and Candace would likely be subject to similar NDA’s, and Candace had no problem openly showing her disdain for them. Brett hasn’t done that.
As for the replacement, I don’t like it, but I get it. It’s kind of like that at a lot of other jobs. Things created on the job belong to the job. It may not seem fair when you get to the other side of things, that’s pretty common in most employment contracts. For example, where I work, I couldn’t use any code I made there at another company. I know it’s not a perfect analogue, but that part doesn’t surprise me that much. The comment section brought in a lot of viewers from a young demographic, and they don’t want to lose them from the company that gave Brett her platform.

u/Xgrateful_head0420X 23d ago
I also side on them with letting Candace go if she didn't fit the company's mission statement, and she's 'untameable'.
I understand employment contracts, as I am under a hefty one myself.
I guess my opinion on her leaving is also based on the fact that she's erased Reagen (her best friend and maid of honor) from all of her insta posts. Every photo with her is now gone.

Also very strange, and a little disheartening, that Walsh and Klavan have publicly posted their support, but Knowles and Shapiro haven’t… Boering didn’t post, but he was in the video, so not really surprising. Other DW employees have posted support as well.
I’m hoping Knowles and Shapiro at least mention something on their shows given that she was featured in videos with them the most…
2
u/cuzimWight 23d ago
Yeah, that part is quite strange…
2
u/Xgrateful_head0420X 23d ago
And they still haven't posted. It's weird.

Well, for what it’s worth, I just finished listening to Knowles’ show, and he loosely addressed it. He said that he was in Minnesota for most of the day and spent the rest of the day traveling to/from. So when he got home, he checked his phone and saw a text from Brett saying something to the effect of “by the way, this is my last day”. He also said that obviously it goes without saying that he loves Brett, thinks very highly of her, will miss her dearly, and wishes her the best. Then he followed it up by saying he was surprised by how many people on X were begging him to say something. He said (and I’m paraphrasing as accurately as possible) “I think in our culture, people forget the difference between public and private. It’s like when couples post birthday wishes to each other on social media for the world to see. I mean, do you not have their number? I realize Brett is a public figure, but to me she is a close personal friend.” Basically saying he didn’t think a public statement was necessary just to appease listeners because he’d rather just give Brett her well wishes personally and privately.
A little strange to me, as a listener, but also very on brand for Knowles tbh. He was effusive in his praise for her, and it just came out very genuine. Not robotic, not forced, etc. A little weird that he seemingly found out it was her last day through text (maybe he knew it was coming, just not when, idk), but it didn’t sound like he knew of any drama under the surface, which I presume he would as one of the figureheads of the DW.
Now Ben is the only one who hasn’t addressed it (as far as I know)

u/Xgrateful_head0420X 23d ago
Thank you for the rundown. I haven't gotten around to listen today.
That is on brand for Knowles.

I watched Mark Dice’s video on her departure. He suspects it’s due to compensation. He showed a comparison of her views and Shapiros and her numbers were higher and really impressive.
2
u/cuzimWight 23d ago
I know the name, but I’m not super familiar with Dice. Certainly possible! IMO, those kinds of things are always hard because she definitely deserved fair compensation, but she was likely only getting her current level of compensation because that platform boosted her reach… that’s not to say she wouldn’t have gotten there on her own eventually because she’s immensely talented, and I’m sure now that she has a massive following, she’ll be able to maintain that mostly. I just hate when things have to come down to money…
Again, in the end, I just hope it doesn’t tear them apart :/ I like these people, and I just want to know they’re decent people lol

I assumed she was leaving cause she could make more money managing her own channel
2
u/Wanderingstar8o 22d ago
Both Brett & Candace have built huge followings on the Daily Wire so now they don’t need the network anymore. Why not just have ur own show & keep all the profits? I doubt Ben wanted her to leave. I’m assuming her contract was up & she did not renew & decided to go out on her own. Plus her husband is in the business so they probably feel it’s best to do their own thing. According to Brett the husband is the leader of the household making decisions for the family. According to Brett a young woman doesn’t need to focus on career. She needs to be having babies & caring for her husband. Maybe her new channel will be focused on her trad wife lifestyle & The Daily Wire wasn’t interested

Candace already had a big following thanks to PragerU and Turning Point USA. I think that’s partially why her exit from DW was so public and dramatic. She didn’t need DW and she knew it, so she went out guns blazing, saying exactly what she thought.
1
u/Wanderingstar8o 7d ago
Sure but her decision to join the Daily Wire was for a reason. She wouldn’t have done that if there wasn’t something in it for her. In the last few years of her working at DW she has grown her following even more & now is in a place where she doesn’t need a network. She has enough of a following to go out on her own. I’m not saying DW is responsible for her success but she obviously worked there because at the time she thought it would further her career

Am I the only one who DIDN'T see this coming? I Mean I saw all the suspicion and stuff online, but all the sources seemed to be "trust me bro"

The one thing I noticed was that she was absent on election night. They had all kinds of guests there and no Brett?

I don't understand why she can't keep her channel and just remove the daily wire advertising.

u/ggfangirl85 22d ago
Because that content belongs to DW, not her. The money earned from those videos belongs to DW, not her (although she gets a cut). And they’re going to continue the program with Regan, so that page will probably be renamed but DW will still use it.

Really liked her energy and outlook. Incredibly wise for a young woman. Hope they recruit some women. DW could use Ann Coulter.

They gave her best friend and maid of honor, her show. She deleted all of Reagans photos off her Instagram.
Interesting.

Wow, sounds like they are not friends anymore. I must admit I have been disappointed in the conservatives in fighting last of couple of years. Sounds like there might be some more regarding her. Quite sad.

u/wadewadewade777 24d ago
They should get someone relatively unknown. Like Brett cooper was at the time

I believed her until Jeremy came on. 😅 working in corporate America, I know there is a public version and an internal version for most things. I support DailyWire nevertheless, and remain a subscriber over many controversies over the years. I don’t want to add on more divisions.

I also work in Corporate America, and this is very much damage control.

Seems bold to leave. She was making 900k a year doing this according to her contract.

She could probably make more by running her own channel because she already has a huge following
2
u/Watson_A_Name 23d ago
I wonder if she has a "Non-compete claus" where she has to wait to start a new channel. Anyway, can't wait. Her show was entertaining, and her viewpoints were good and well expressed. She'd be a great addition to any similar type show/organization.
3
u/Xgrateful_head0420X 23d ago
Her new channel she posted on X and is linked in the comments above.
4
u/Watson_A_Name 23d ago
What I was trying to say was I wonder if she has to wait to start posting new pop culture videos in a similar capacity. I don't know exactly how the clauses legally work. Maybe she can make a new channel but not post, or maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe she doesn't even have a non-compete claus. Not sure.

Wish she had stayed. Big loss for dailywire.
Absolutely will subscribe to her new channel.

Here’s evidence that her leaving MIGHT be the beginning of the end for DW.

All that kinda read as bulls**t. There was no proof for anything he said outside of a two second clip of Crowder without any of the substantial back and forth that happened (also even inside of the clip if daily wire wants their Hosts to remain “brand friendly” and making money while they pay them <50 million a year that is their prerogative). The stuff with Candace was obviously more complex than just Jeremy being an arse and again, they are a private company that wants to present a vision. If their hosts started doing leftwing talking points they wouldn’t stand for it, the crazed unjustified criticism of Israel was asking for issues (and if you’ve seen her stuff these days she’s truly gone off the deep end into conspiracy land). We’ll see what happens with Brett Cooper and other hosts but most of that was just unsubstantiated word vomit.

u/Dull_Present506 23d ago
“Unjustified criticism of Israel “ ??? That video isn’t for you dude. You’re too far gone lol

Of course, DW lets go of their only relatable, in-touch anchor. Better replace her with someone who is stiff and stodgy! That’s what the people want!

u/the_njf 22d ago
Can’t say I’ll miss her. I understand she was supposed to target younger viewers - such as myself - but I did not find her content to have any substance.
