Agree looks like when my guys call their mate over to snack on the grub I left. So I think they're calling their crow bros.

thats what I think. I normally have one crow who is ready n watching me put the food out, then he caws like that once he sees the goods have been thrown, and suddenly 3 others pop up outta nowhere :-)

He has what I call a “crowcuttirie” board which is this shelf like thing I have to place on the windowsill since I live in the city….I put a new kind of cheese on there though and I can’t tell if he’s pissed or just trying to talk to me…….

Raw beef scraps(when I have them) they love and the standard unsalted peanuts in the shell. If we are giving unsalted peanuts because salt is not good for them, then wouldn’t hot dogs have too much salt too?…just wondering because someone suggested it… BTW, my crows caw and I caw back the same amount of caws (if they do three caws I do three caws) we have gotten up to 11 caws each!! Yep, I know, I’m the crazy Crow neighbor.

Don’t do dairy though… I get hot dogs on sale and cut those up. He wants protein this is how my murder acts when they want some food! If he clicks that’s a sign of affection

Noted thanks- do you know if they do fruits or veggies by chance? I know they love peanuts and such… I’ve been doing the eggs and meat mainly.

I’ve never had luck with them, including orange slices and strawberries. They love fries though

Three caws indicates an alarm, or an emergency. Maybe a cat is prowling?

I’m not sure- but he seems stressed to me- normally he purrs and clicks

I don’t think I had the right food out for him…… but on a side note last time he did that there was an earthquake a few minutes later, the one in Humboldt that could be felt in the city. Also tbh I’m not sure Sebastian is a he lol I only know it’s the same one because of his size- he’s a bit bigger than sketchy trav and the boys. That’s what I’ve named the other ones lol I have no idea why.

Most crow calls are serialized. But there’s no evidence for specific meaning associated with specific quantity, though there’s correlation with call repetition scaling with stress arrousal in songbirds. One thing is sure is that alarm calls are usually repeated longer. Early warnings calls are also usually made in the direction of the danger.
So although I’d agree it’s a stresser call, This is more likely territorial signalling or some dominance display to maintain hierarchy.
…maybe
Realistically speaking most questions starting with “what does that animal call mean” devolves into anthropomorphic explanations.

Bird not mad, he’s just vocalizing. It could be a weather report.
