Small Steps
One of the most satisfying feelings ever of fixing your first device.
My Xbox Controller was plagued with Stick Drift and managed to strip the controller down as my first attempt.
Also managed to fix the more severe Stick Drift in my PS4 Controller alongside a now working L2 button.
Can't wait to take apart my Nintendo Switch for a button repair and my Series X for a long needed cleaning.

Hey, i also have an xbox one controller that has stick drift. What did you do to yours?

I stripped off the hard cover off the controller, removed the analogue covers and noticed some "gunk" around the sticks.
Honestly I just removed the small bits of "gunk" wiped away the dust around the sticks and used a fibre cloth to gentle clean around those areas.
Put it back together and it worked perfectly.

Interesting. Is it soldered on? Or can it just be popped off?

The analogue covers can be popped off and click back into place once the cover is off. Stick drift is a relatively easy fix but can be complex the more you strip away so if you're going to fix it yourself, try the easy solutions first.
There's tons of tutorials on YouTube for this kind of thing.
Tronicsfix is very good for informative breakdowns of controllers & consoles! That's where I go if I'm unsure.
Odd Tinkering is also a great resource to have if you're into this π

Take it easy, if you succeed with it, itβs great, but be careful, since other pieces of technology may not be as durable or as resistant as your controllers and are really prone to breaking by minimum touches
