Joining a local organization

I have been thinking of joining a local organization, as it feels stupid to just idly stand by, but there is so little choice and the only real option is a "Titoist" organization. However, I don't really agree with Titoism on a theoretical level. Is it worth joining?

I had no idea there are titoist orgs that's crazy. Anyway if there's really such a dearth you're probably better off starting a new one, I'm sure there's gotta be others looking for something too. A bookclub could be an easy way to find them

Seconded, book clubs are the way to go in the absence of local groups.

There also may be groups out there in your area that are less conspicuous, it can take quite a bit of digging. I live in a suburban area and there are at least 10 communist organizations in my area, many of which are self-proclaimed Hoxha-ist or Titoist but there are others that are ML or MLM.

In the ex-yugoslavia countries, marxism-leninism isn't popular due to the bad experiences from the past and propagandized education system where its just skipped over. The only "left" organizations and parties apart from the socdemocrat bullshit are yugonostalgic titoist ones. I guess there are some more obscure organizations in the capitals, but there isn't really anything outside of them, especially in rural areas such as mine. I don't know about the bookclubs though, where does one find them?

What bad experiences? As if "Stalinists" and other "Soviet agents" weren't sent to Goli Otok to pestle rocks for Yugoslav market socialism. Communism in modern Croatia seems like a chimera of eurocommunism and titoism that only appeals to petty-bourgeois adolescents in Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, etc., and their reach is limited to the internet and already established parties. But the pathetic thing is, even this massacred communism can't get them a single seat in parliament.

I 100% agree with you. What I meant was that the common folk think of the titoist bullshit when they hear socialism or communism and completely disregard it.

I was going to write a bit longer analysis of those "common folk" you mentioned but decided that leaving you some material would be more beneficial.

I also recommend studying the line struggle in Yugoslavia during the 1940s and early 1950s and the split with the Soviets (before revisionism). Check who the persecuted were (they were not Croat/Serb patriots).

What the Chinese had to say (this was an editorial piece against an open letter by CPSU's Central Committee and by-large against Soviet revisionism and social-imperialism): https://www.marxists.org/history/international/comintern/sino-soviet-split/cpc/yugoslavia.htm

Enver Hoxha against Kardelj: https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/hoxha/works/ebooks/yugoslav_selfadministration_a_capitalist_theory_and_practice.pdf

e: although nothing here deals directly with the things you asked (except in part by Renmin Ribao and Hongqi piece), they will give you the foundation that your eventual answer for Why do Titoist orgs even exist today? and Why is communism unpopular in Croatia? will relay on.

not really - I think we shouldn't be ruling out orgs we don't 100% agree with but titoism is something you should be actively opposing as a marxist

I think you'd be better off joining a larger org even if they aren't near
