Cable connector in a rectangle shape with one diagonal corner. About the length of a USB-C, and the width of a Mini USB

Post image

Cable is about 3ft long.

The other end is to USB-A. Connector is about the length of a USB-C, and the width of a Mini USB.

Google Lens is no help; it suggests images of Micro HDMI connectors, but that's not quite what this is.

Any idea what the name of this connector is, and/or what if could be used for?

Looks like HTC extUSB. Was a weird standard that was mini usb that also supported audio out, you could still use a mini USB cable to charge the phone too

The only standard that cable followed was "no standard".

Yeah, standard was the wrong word. My first smart phone had it so I have some fondness for it, even if that smart phone was an HTC Touch Diamond running the truly awful smart phone OS Windows Mobile 6.1

Some proprietary cable for digital camera?

🤔 Sounds like a decent lead.. Could be for a digital camera my parents used before I moved out like a decade ago. I should see if they still have it the next time I visit them... I believe it was a Canon Powershot A3 though, and this doesn't seem to be for that.

Not sure how long I've been hanging onto this, but I discovered it among my Mini-USB cables when taking inventory after a move.

Just don't want to get rid of it in case it's for some niche/proprietary thing I infrequently use. Seems like something that could be inconvenient to replace

I was going to suggest either micro HDMI or micro DisplayPort but you said the other side is USB so idk.
