Noticed na very uncommon ang finance niche na work here Community
Searched through this subreddit and I noticed na very few lang ang may posts tungkol sa finance industry. Is it hard to get in this niche? I am a finance graduate and I've been searching for stories/experiences about this pero wala ako masyadong nakikita haha.
To the people working in this industry, what's your story?

Hi! I have Finance as my niche dumaan na ako ng American Express back office, Warehouses, Financial Consultancy, Emerging Markets, BCP.
And i will say na eto pinaka gusto ko talagang line of work kasi tahimik and gagana talaga isip mo.
Sobrang at peace ako sa work ko dahil mag isip lang ako. It’s me and excel against the world.

Uncommon kasi madalang corporate employees dito tapos halos lahat ng finance work corporate.

Nice CPA ka pala so sobrang swak. Hanapin mo lang google finance remote jobs then apply ng apply. Ganda naman experience mo. Good luck bro kaya mo yan.👍

Akala ko nga etong sub n to eh pang VA lang. Kase yun lagi ang main threads dito n feel ko dapat palitan n ung name to VAPH or something. Lol
Anyway, as to your question. If by finance niche you mean fintech, madalang yun dito since mostly freelancers at VAs ang andito s sub n to.
Finance industry in general is corporate. You probably have more chances seeing fintech threads in r/pinoyprogrammer than in this sub. I observed na mostly ng mga tao dito came from a CSR background and jumped to doing VA kaya malabo tlga.

u/StageLegal1762 17h ago
Finance niche doesn't necessarily mean fintech. It could also be credit analyst, accounts payable/receivable clerk, financial analyst, etc. There is more to finance niche than just being a fintech industry in terms of remote jobs. I do agree na mostly it is a corporate job, but I think there are still opportunities for remote work pa din. Thank you for your insight!

u/visualmagnitude 17h ago
Yeah and thanks for clarifying. There sure is remote work for it. Pero it will most likely be a corporate job, still. Thing is this sub is mostly freelancers e kaya wla dn tlg mshdo related posts for it.

u/False_Wash2469 1d ago
Marami kami, busy lang kaya wala masyadong post dito hahahah. O baka nangge-gate keep yung iba 🫣

Fintech is tech, and tech is largely still corporate. And tech mostly requires proper educational background in software as a whole. Hindi siya simpleng self learned skill (although that is possible). Mas marami lng tlg tyo ngayong WFH setup.
Hehe

I work in finance for over 10 years started as callcenter agent for their creditcards, chatgeback ng debit cards hanggang sa napunta sa investment banking operations. Naging analyst handling derivatives and securities settlements napunta sa client management now project manager.
I have colleagues who moved to swiss, london, aussie, hk and and sg to name a few. Now, im.egging to move sa Sg or HK kasi nga naman same job pero 5x the salary tapos continued tenureship lang better benefits

I feel like mostly sa finance remote workers don’t have qualms about their job? So ano ipopost? Haha

I'm a Financial Analyst. After nun, never nako nakahanap ng Financial Analyst job as a freelancer, yung about sa stock market. Puro about crypto ang hiring so sinubukan ko, kaso puro Technical Analysis at price prediction halos. Ayun nag upskill ako at gamay ko na both Fundamental and Technical, pati mga economic analysis. That's my story.

Uy, I've done lots of financial analysis when I was in college, publicly traded companies ng PH and USA. Sobrang taas ng process sa pag-gawa haha. Thank you for sharing and more success po!

Complete pa SSS, PH at PAG-IBIG mo. May medicare or intellicare ka pa.
May pa bonus pa quarterly or May ibang benefits.
Kaya kung yan industry mo, I suggest don't look any further because the grass is green for that industry in our country.

I work in finance but more fin-comm if there is such a thing. So it’s a full time corporate job - I work directly under the cfo - you can call me a human ChatGPT for numbers 😅😂 but I do have both actual comm and tech foundations/bsckground

My niche is indirect tax.

I think not much posts kasi hard to breakthrough. Madami opportunities for finance roles, there are always people and businesses looking for help doing the calculations & analysis, lalo na mga startups. Although it is not easy to penetrate for less experienced people, most clients are looking for those with track record (5-10 yrs exp, or MBA or worked in a well-known firm) since mataas competition from freelancers na Indians, Europeans, and other Asia/ASEAN. Fields na usual may work is investment banking, corporate finance, or FP&A.
P.S. I've been in the finance industry for 10+ years (corporate) and have just transitioned to full consultancy/freelancing in the last 1-2 yrs.

My advice is get some experience first, maybe 1-3 yrs in an investment bank (BDO, BPI, FMIC, etc) and/or accounting/consulting firms (PWC, Deloitte, EY, KMPG), learn the industry, and then try to find some part-time clients. Thats what I did first, having FT job then doing the part-time at night and weekends (for 1 yr), then once youve built the track record and get the hang of dealing/negotiating with clients, madali na makakuha ng work.

I work in the cryptocurrency space (finance space), specifically in blockchain development, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for me. I started as a finance graduate with zero coding experience but got super curious about crypto. I dove into online courses on blockchain and smart contracts, and within a year, I landed my first job at a crypto startup.
Now, I work for a big crypto exchange, earning way more than I ever thought possible. It’s let me pay off loans, invest in properties, and even travel a ton. The work is super dynamic—one day I’m building DeFi platforms, the next I’m tackling security issues. The best part? I’ve met some of the most innovative people in this space, and the opportunities just keep coming.
Crypto’s still growing, and yeah, it’s risky, but it’s also insanely exciting. If you’re even a little curious, start learning about blockchain and smart contracts—you never know where it might take you

Sungit naman ng sagot nito.
I get ung question ni OP, ung sa finance kasi
1) possible marami silang funds, so they will get bigger companies, they might not mind the cost of employees 2) risky and so they will need more trust and transparency 3) more complex needs
Whereas a lot of VAs probably support operations, admin and marketing, very minimal on finance aspect.

Ang question was bakit wala masyadong finance kasi ung VAs di ba pwedeng magwork sa iba ibang industry like service, IT, pharma/medical, marketing companies and others. :)

Di ba buhay digital ito? Di naman buhay finance? Maybe you are in the wrong sub reddit?
OP is asking for people who work in the Finance industry. I do. r/buhaydigital caters to all industries, so we expect that "some" do work in Finance.

u/Bungangera 1d ago
Bobita! I wanna feed some information in your ignorant brain na Finance ay isang niche, similar to IT, customer service, etc.

I work in Fintech, if that counts then my story is that I was referred to this industry. I'm in IT and before I worked in the publishing industry and worked in a software house.
Joining Fintech is my biggest break.
I was able to live alone at the age of 27 in a studio. I was able to travel to many places, local and abroad. I got invited to work in Sydney for a while. Met my wife in this industry. My current salary puts me in the upper class bracket (non managerial)
Not many people know that Fintech is one of the highest paying industries. Fintech is the second industry where most IT people flock as per SO survey (first is Tech like Microsoft, Facebook, Apple)
