Everything is so long!

Uniqlo tends to have shorter cuts (ankle length styles) and they have free hemming service too

3

u/SCTSectionHiker 16h ago

I believe Lululemon also has a free hemming service.

u/sarah_awake 15h ago

The CEO of Lululemon is a legit monster/garbage human. Please don't support that brand.

u/random9212 15h ago

While I agree, there are not many companies where the CEO is not a POS

11

u/KDdid1 11h ago

Former CEO - he was kicked off that job 20 years ago.

6

u/Ew_david87 11h ago

If you’re referring to Chip Wilson, he is not the CEO

Old Navy has petites and also does a lot of their pants in 7/8ths Also lots of tailors are not that expensive for a simple hem job 😊

u/Altostratus 17h ago

Agreed, I love the Old Navy petite sizes. The pants are the perfect length for my stubby little legs. And so affordable.

This is the only place I buy my jeans now. The short versions always fit me nicely. They don't seem to have as many different styles in store as they used to unfortunately.

2

u/TonightZestyclose537 13h ago

You can order anything online and return in-store if you want your money back!

u/Grocery-Full 18h ago

For jeans, I go to American Eagle because they have petite sizes. I generally have to hem everything else.

5

u/SnooFloofs3451 17h ago

American eagle and aerie are my go to as well. That being said many styles don't come in short in store so I often try them on for size and then order them online.

I’m 5’2” and short waisted, this means I’m petite for tops, I have a 32” inseam. So normal pants.

That said, why can’t woman have what men have sell pants in waist and length.

My dad was 28” waist and 29” length, he was 5’5” and he wore women running shoes said more comfortable.

So why can’t women have that and pockets it isn’t a meme we want pockets.

u/CopperWeird 16h ago

Some places have different waist and inseams listed on their walls but then never stock anything longer than a 30” anyways. Stampede Tack often has a proper selection of womens jeans but they’re western riding focused so it’s a specific look.

1

u/Halfbloodjap 11h ago

I've never been but if it's a tack shop I imagine its not cheap either

1

u/CopperWeird 9h ago

The pricing is pretty normal there since malls don’t have many cheap options these days, but I found my ariats lasted years instead of months.

u/Halfbloodjap 2h ago

Yeah the standard wear on country jeans is a bit more than most city folk put on theirs. I go through a pair of Costco jeans about every 6 months wearing them for farm work.

Reitman and Hollister have petite sizes

6

u/planningahead00 17h ago

Haven’t wore jeans/pants for ages, when I did before, bought them from Jacob Junior 🤣 nowadays only wear tights, foldable 😆

u/gunnslinnger 17h ago

Abercrombie has a great selection of pant lengths! They have their curve love line which is great for those of us with smaller waist but wider hips, so your pants don't gap.

1

u/hellomarshmallows 7h ago

Came to say this.

3

u/osteomiss 17h ago

Reitmans petite or cropped slacks work for me!

8

u/Mistercorey1976 18h ago

Go to the Asian malls in Richmond.

2

u/AUniquePerspective 13h ago

Also a good place if your shoe size is on the lower end of the range that other stores tend to carry.

6

u/420GreatWolfSif 16h ago

Buy 3-4 pairs of regular jeans.

Cut and hem them.

Sew together the cut offs and make jean sleeves to sew onto your jean vest.

Repeat the process and sew together the cutoffs to make jean underwear.

Rinse and repeat until you have enough cutoff material to make jean socks, moccasins, a toque even...

Become the jean master.

Otherwise I guess get really lucky cause your size be sold out everywhere.

Banana Republic and Gap have a petite option length for their pants. I have been buying from them for years.

2

u/OutlawsOfTheMarsh 17h ago

Uniqlo has free hemming services

2

u/Cattpacker 17h ago

Banana republic petite

2

u/sy_snootles 15h ago

Aritzia. My wife is 5'0". She says it's one of the few places where "XS" means the length too.

2

u/911coldiesel 15h ago

My neighbor is close to your size. She sometimes gets clothes from the kids' section. Less taxes because it is for kids.

1

u/croissantgoldrush 18h ago

I love Old Navy for pants and jumpsuits! Their petite size is perfect (I'm 5ft as well). Otherwise, I get things hemmed for cheap, too

1

u/SUP3RGR33N 18h ago

I'm a pretty average height, but I still find I just have to take pants to those in-mall tailors to keep from tripping on them these days. I guess it makes sense that it's easier/possible to tailor shorter, but not longer. It's always surprisingly cheap. (Like 20$ I want to say?)

1

u/sams_soul 17h ago

American Eagle. Most of their pants come in short and extra short. Hollister also comes in short.

1

u/vanderWaalsBanana 17h ago

I'm 5'5" and often buy outdoorsy clothes from the MEC youth sizing rack. I guess you might call me skinny, and I have a lot of success for hiking pants, down jackets etc for half the price.

1

u/Icy-Variety-1836 15h ago

SPANX has petite sizes. Expensive but my favourite pants ever. 10/10 recommend the air essentials wide leg pant

1

u/LookTreesWow 15h ago

Gap has always worked well for me! They have petite sizing as well.

1

u/General_History_6640 15h ago

Marks work warehouse & sew a hem

1

u/Halfpint_kiki 15h ago

I’m 4’10 and pretty much just wear Lululemon in “extra short” or get them hemmed because they do it for free or wear “extra short” in anything from Aritzia. I work from home so almost everything at this point is a legging or sweatpants. I have a few dress trousers for when I have to go to conferences and stuff which I found at Winners and they fit my height but I need to hem almost anything else I buy.

1

u/Outside_Sugar_2594 14h ago

My wife buys “boys” pants more often than not.

She says the fit and price point are unbeatable for every day pants.

1

u/Temporary-Platypus98 14h ago

The buy also have a section for petite women. I’m 4”11.

1

u/Guilty_Management_35 14h ago

Laura has a petite line

1

u/the_small_one1826 14h ago

Going to thrift/second hand places and then paying for hemming can be good to find diverse jean/pant options and not breaking the bank.

Northern Reflections in Canada

u/kiiyopta 14h ago

Old navy and Reitmans petite

1

u/anonymousgrad_stdent 14h ago

This is a specific example, but Kotn has a unisex jean style right now that has a variety of waist/length measurements. I'm 5'2 and bought a pair with a 28" inseam that fit me perfectly!

1

u/No_Flamingo_2802 13h ago

Reitmans petites have a 27” inseam

1

u/cardew-vascular Lower Mainland/Southwest 12h ago

Leggings from marks.

1

u/lunerose1979 Thompson-Okanagan 12h ago

Wish I could have that problem. I’m 5’10 and it’s a bigger problem because you can’t just add fabric as easily as you can hem pants.

1

u/Ew_david87 11h ago

I like Mavi, they have lots of shapes for jeans and do complimentary hemming.

1

u/oldschoolgruel 7h ago

Petite section in almost any store

1

u/RidgyNomes 5h ago

Bluenotes!

1

u/VariousMeringueHats 17h ago

Bonus points for places with plus petite sizes. Is there anywhere besides Old Navy? Short fat girls need blazers too!

3

u/nosynessy 17h ago

Laura has petite blazers and so does. Banana Republic.

1

u/VariousMeringueHats 8h ago

Not petite plus, unfortunately. You can be petite, or you can be plus-sized, but you can't be both at the same time, apparently (except that I am!). It's so frustrating! But thanks anyway.

2

u/frisfern Vancouver Island/Coast 17h ago

Pennington's has petite.

3

u/VariousMeringueHats 17h ago

True! I wish they had more than pants though (I know the OP is asking about pants but I'm desperate). Pants are the easiest to get hemmed! It's so much harder to get dresses, some tops, and blazers to fit right through the torso. Sleeves can be hemmed but for blazers it's $$$$$ and the trend right now seems to be for super long blazers that emphasize the fact that my legs are 2 feet long. (Can you tell I recently had a frustrating shopping experience?)

2

u/frisfern Vancouver Island/Coast 16h ago

I'm not petite so I didn't realize the selection was that limited. There are a few plus size stores so hopefully you find something suitable!
