2020 Hoyt Torrex XT or Matthew’s Switchback XT

I currently have a Matthew’s switchback XT Bow and am very new to bow hunting. Have someone offering a 2020 Hoyt Torrex XT fully kitted with release for 400. Which is better or is this even worth the upgrade?

Well the mathews switchback is like a 20 year old bow. Nothing wrong with that, I shoot a creed from 2013 and I absolutely love it. Mathews will continue to make parts for all their bows so parts are always available. Hoyt doesn't do that to my knowledge but a relatively new fully loaded hoyt for that price isn't bad. The attatchemnts may be worth way more than 400 alone. If the attarchemnts are nice just buy with the intention of maybe putting them on the switchback depending on which you prefer to shoot

The bow itself I'm seeing, can be worth 600. depending and on model of site, it could be a 300-400 dollar sight. If the sight is quality that might make it worth on its own. I spent 450 on my spot hogg and it was by the far best improvement I've made to my archery kit. Get a potentially nice sight and have a back up bow sounds worth it for 400 bucks.

Have you shot the Hoyt?

I have not.

If you can, you should.

Ultimately, it's a newer bow, but the Matthews is great, so may not provide any advantages.

I won’t retire my switchback xt until I don’t have a choice.

I’d probably stick with the switchback and replace with a newer flagship when you get the itch for something better.

Sorry, I meant flagship bow as in one of the new offerings from Mathew’s, Hoyt, Bowtech, etc. I haven’t looked at the specs, the Hoyt Torrex might be than the Swtichback, but I’m not sure it will be that much better. If you can, shoot it to get a sense of how it feels and if it fits you better.

I still rock my switchback xt when I first got into bow hunting 4 years ago. Paid 350 for it on eBay. I thought about ordering new limbs for mine.

The Switchback was a flagship bow, the Hoyt torrent was an entry level bow.

Personally If I wanted to upgrade and wanted to keep it cheap I would be checking ebay or archery talk for a used flagship bow a couple years old.

I'd stick with the switchback until you can get into a newer flagship bow. As long as everything is in working order, you're hitting accurate shots, save the coin.
