Ichigo crying in the rain after is probably the saddest scene in the series, the “not you too” line hurts so much

For me it wasn't so much him crying but Orihime. Even after having all her memories transposed to uncle Tsukishima (love that guy) her "heart" (what is a heart?) still remembered him.

remember when the dogodogo blew up the moon too? that was crazy!

Being betrayed by all your friends and family will do that to a man.

-59

u/Medaxx_42 12h ago

What do you mean ? I skipped that arc but I doubt his friend or family will betray him? So was he under an hallucination or something like that?

28

u/doomsquid13 10h ago

why would you skip a major important arc?, but to avoid spoilers the arc is based around psychological horror and the villains of this arc are the most personal since grand fisher

u/FuriousKAMEX Chad Sympathizer 12h ago

imagine skipping peak

21

u/SenatorArmnotstrong 10h ago

Anybody above the age of 18 who watched entire OG bleach says it's peak and bro skipped it.

11

u/Over_Yogurtcloset820 12h ago

Nah, his friend and family were under my uncle ability

Ooh so he is your uncle. Great guy. Like a brother to me. He rescued me out a flood once back in my youth. Would do anything for that man!

u/dark621 6h ago

why comment on the arc when you didnt even watch it?

-9

u/Medaxx_42 6h ago

Because I want to ? And because it was years ago a skipped so maybe now I am intrigued by it and may wanted to watch it ?

4

u/dark621 5h ago

i meant why comment "i doubt his friends would betray him" when you skipped the arc and didnt learn why they did.

you should absolutely go back and watch it.

-1

u/Medaxx_42 5h ago

Because I have seen a lot of episode of bleach and it seem odd that they would all betray him so that is why I ask the reason ? Not sure what I did wrong here

u/After_Answer_7746 5h ago

I'm gonna assume you're watching tybw as it releases. If you are then you aren't going to understand a single thing that happens towards the end of the final cour lmao. The fullbringer arc is one of the most important arcs.

u/chjk122 5h ago

If you want you can watch my edit of that arc to make it hours shorter for the core plot.

Thank you !

Not gonna lie, this whole story arc fucked me up bad enough that I still won't watch the whole thing even like 15 years later. Tsukashima was god damn terrifying to me.

99

u/DripIntravenous 17h ago

Bleach straight up turned into a horror story when all his friends and family started showing up to the house and talking to him about Tsukishima.

44

u/Valin-Tenebrous 17h ago

For real. Like, I loved the final fight sequences where everyone squares up to fight. And the lore stuff about Fullbrings is really cool. (Even if it did serve to absolutely murder any further character development for Chad,) but God damn I can't do that middle bit with Tsukashima fucking with Ichigo. Just can't.

22

u/Valin-Tenebrous 17h ago

All of that being said, I would absolutely abuse the hell out of Tsukashima's power in a heartbeat if I had it.

The duality of man

I’m still ~healing~ after leaving an abusive spouse and I genuinely have to skip most of this arc whenever I do a Bleach rewatch. The dinner scene with everyone going “OMG Ichigo how dare you treat cousin Tsukishima like that” breaks my heart.

The first time I watched as a 30 something adult had me in tears. It truly captures what it’s like to be in a relationship with a manipulative person who presents perfection to the outside world.

And the whole thing with Tsukishima rewriting history? Lord…it got so bad that I had to record conversations because I swear I was going crazy/losing my memories/my hearing loss was getting worse. Gaslighting gets thrown around a lot on the internet but that shit is REAL.

At the same time the arc is also about losing personal agency, accepting your powerlessness and finding your own village.

TL;DR watch the Fullbringer Arc at your own risk

It’s actually insane how after everything he’s been through from Soul society to basically dying in Hueco Mundo, it was losing the faith of people around him and losing this power that got him to break down into despair. It’s really unfortunate this arc doesn’t get the credit it deserves simply bc it’s lacking in action, but Jesus, not only was this back to essentially square 1, Ichigo is actually contemplating on killing someone. Bro never had this energy even to Ulqiorra or Aizen.

17

u/ContributionTiny2854 15h ago

I kinda disagree on that “ichigo is contemplating killing someone” take, urahara explained that resolve especially resolve to kill calls forth power very fast so ichigo has been willing to end lives since he got his shikai

16

u/Substantial-Fee7264 13h ago

He's been willing to use lethal force, but he still never actually willingly killed anyone. Tsukishima and Ginjo were the first time he wanted to kill someone

10

u/RedHotSonic_ 11h ago

the lethal, murderous, desperate intent to kill was never seen before.

1

u/Kelras 13m ago

Basically: it was personal.

10

u/megasean3000 10h ago

Say what you want about Ginjo, but Aizen and Yhwach have never brought Ichigo to his lowest ever point and had him crying in the rain.

2

u/Kelras 14m ago

Yeah. Man was completely broken.

10

u/Adorable_Apricot_804 14h ago

One of the most despair inducing scenes. Up there with Ulquiorra revealing that he is only the 4th espada

12

u/All-Fired-Up91 15h ago

Tsukishima’s power would be so useful irl like imagine all the uses it would have

5

u/JuanCenasux 14h ago

Yeah it was a pretty sad scene . Kurosaki helplessly begs Ginjo to give his powers back and can do nothing but cry, while Ginjo walks away and says, let him cry.

5

u/UmbraGenesis 12h ago

I hated Ginjou so much. That was a long week for me when reading the manga

3

u/SeekerofWorthy 12h ago

Fullbring was ichigo's lowest point. And the most emotionally loaded one too.

3

u/Paint-It-Black1966 11h ago

so going into this arc, I knew Ginjo was the villain because an a-hole spoiled for me a while back but the arc gaslight me into thinking tsukishima was the villain so even though i was spoiled i was still surprised when the reveal happened

One of the many moments in this arc that destroyed me as well, was Tsukishima showing up at Ikumis place after that whole heart to heart with Ichigo, he finally feels safe and with someone "not crazy" for a moment.. only to have it all collapse again a couple minutes after.

My heart dropped dude.. I think most readers like me had the same face as Ichigo here.

Edit: The fact this I believe also happend after what he went through a little earlier with the family dinner..

4

u/Brinewielder 16h ago

I shidded and farded

1

u/Ellek10 5h ago

It’s so hard for me to watch this scene for this reason ☹️

I liked the ending though.

1

u/After-Bread-4834 5h ago

"Don't worry ichigo your shikai is still bigger"

  • Orihime probably

1

u/Short-Paramedic-9740 10h ago

Universal Ichigo they said.

Tbh I had a second hand embarrassment 😭😭 I had to pause and tell my self he’s 17 it’s okay to cry after getting betrayed by everyone and losing your powers but I still couldn’t help but feel embarrassed 😭

4

u/Ok_Guest_1648 14h ago

Today I cried because.
