We asked my daughter’s middle school to remove the LGBT flag from her classrooms because it goes against our values and they’re pushing back. Discussion/Debate

They said that displaying the lgbt flag aligns with their inclusivity values and being asked to remove the flag goes against their anti-discrimination policy. ( which I haven’t read). Has anyone challenged their schools to remove this flag? What has been your experience?

It’s bullshit because they aren’t actually inclusive unless they take your values into consideration

-209

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

If your values are discriminatory, then it’s the whole paradox of tolerance thung

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

How is not taking only a single sjde discriminatory? Are they asking gay kids to leave? No. There’s not discrimination when one simply doesn’t get involved in a non-academic and divisive social issue, in a middle school. It’s time for the mainstream to speak out again these false claims of “discrimination” used as a vehicle to push a single-sided agenda.

-91

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

What exactly is divisive about gay people existing?

56

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

Please answer my question on your point rather than deflect.

-54

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

I mean I’m not exactly sure what the side they’re taking is. What are the two sides?

39

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

Still deflecting. Please answer the question I asked about your point. I mean I just ask people to explain what they mean after all.

-10

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

You asked “how is taking one side discriminatory”. I can’t answer that unless I know what the sides are

41

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

And three times and you play dumb and deflect a reasonable question as to the logic of your argument. I think that gives us the answer we need.

-1

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

If you refer to “sides” how am I supposed to know what that means

You clearly don’t actually want to have a discussion here

The lgbt flag is divisive because it does not include everyone. Why no straight flag hanging up next to it? That would be inclusive

-4

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

There is no recognized “straight” flag. The lgbt flag was created to show support against marginalization. Since there hasn’t been marginalization against straight ppl, there’s been no flag made

If there was some remote, isolated country where straight ppl were marginalized, then a flag would exist

This all being said, why didn’t you ask for a straight flag to be flown?

  1. Do you think OP would have a problem of any of those flags were flown

  2. Most of those groups DO have month long events. Like Jewish history month is in may. You ppl just don’t throw a hissy fit with that one

u/Birdflower99 Aug 23 '22

Because to me that would still be considered sexual content. Neither flag should be represented

0

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

Wait so are against it bc it’s “divisive” or “sexual content”?

14

u/Birdflower99 Aug 23 '22

Both. Perhaps you read the original post?

1

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

But romantic love is a thing that we’re fine teaching kids abt without talking abt sex. Why is it different for gay studf?

→ More replies

0

u/Free_Ghislaine Aug 23 '22

Sexual content is all these kids are consuming and for the first time at this age. They should be educated. And as for a straight flag I agree it should be flown but only right along side the lbgt one. Everything should be discussed in sex-ed. Maybe the flags could even just be in that room?

-2

u/Canuckpunt Aug 23 '22

Can we get Qurans back in schools where they belong please? I'm sick of the Bible being the only one allowed.

2

u/Bacio83 Aug 23 '22

That’s a joke right

-5

u/RajyavardhanSingh029 Aug 23 '22

So gay people will stop existing once you remove a pride flag?

1

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

What is divisive abt supporting gay ppl in the face of marginalization

-2

u/dietcheese Facts don’t care about your feelings Aug 23 '22

Tell that to Texas.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

And what do you take issue with?

-5

u/dietcheese Facts don’t care about your feelings Aug 23 '22

Mandated “in god we trust” signs.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

It’s in our money. It’s the national motto. What’s the issue?

-6

u/dietcheese Facts don’t care about your feelings Aug 23 '22

I’m a satanist.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

That’s up to you. But that’s still our national motto and SCOTUS has said it’s not unconstitutional.

0

u/dietcheese Facts don’t care about your feelings Aug 23 '22

Yet another manifestation of right wing Christian hypocrisy.

Actually the problem is that if "inclusivity" is your primary concern, you've already failed. You can't include everyone and everything. So by attempting to be all inclusive, you're excluding others automatically. Some ideas and people are just incompatible.

46

u/Birdflower99 Aug 23 '22

I’m not tolerating it. Which is why we’re here. These wanna be trans kids are allowed to change with the girls and use their restrooms. There is no line. Boy one day and girl the next, constant flip flopping. It’s wrong

12

u/amiss8487 Aug 23 '22

It’s an identity crisis and feel a lot of it can stem from trauma. Huge control issues

I’ll never forgot I took care of a patient recently who was going through a sex change. His appearance was laughable and humerus. He was confined to wheelchair and had every disorder you could name. The home was so disgusting I wanted to vomit. Then he or she would half ass wear a pink wig that was falling off and looked fucking ridiculous. They always needed validation about their looks. Also, spoke on getting more surgery and how taxes pays for it (I dunno if that’s true)

The person also had extreme OCD. Insane amount of control issues. I’d be there for over an hour doing extra shit so they felt better. It would take me an eternity to do basic tasks.

Anyways, the patients family member worked for a important government agency. Never home, work came first.

How does going to a different bathroom affect anyone else?

32

u/Birdflower99 Aug 23 '22

It keeps people with Penis’ away from girls in the restroom and locker room places where girls are most vulnerable.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

It keeps people with Penis’ away from girls in the restroom

The plural of penis is penises. The apostrophe is weird.

-12

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

Literacy is not their strong suit. Blind hatred is their brand.

-13

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

Have you ever been to a school before? There’s nothing stopping ppl from going into opposite gender bathrooms now. It’s not like there a guard there

Also this study shows no increase in risk related to Trans inclusive policies

u/Bangays Aug 23 '22

What is it with you people and appeals to authority

-4

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

It’s more like “appeal to actual facts over feelings”

10

u/MrMotley Aug 23 '22

Can you explain why you believe the feelings of the trans woman to be more important than the feelings of the women?

Women have a right to not be involuntarily forced to be exposed to penises, especially young women.

Your ideas are indefensible.

-1

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

Are you exposed to penises in the men’s room currently?

-1

That’s not what’s happening. You’re watching too much libsoftiktok. And believing it.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '22

If your values sexualize children, can they be accurately referred to as “values”? I’d argue that’s oxymoronic.

1

u/Astro_physikz Aug 23 '22

They are still values. They're just awful ones. Values aren't inherently positive. Some people have good values, others have abhorrent ones.

-1

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

Who said anything abt sexualizing kids?

1

u/CabanaFeVaA Aug 23 '22

Username adds up.

5

u/MrEnigma67 Aug 23 '22

By that logic isn't the school discriminatory for not removing the flag?

0

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

How? The flag is a symbol of tolerance and support against marginalization

2

u/MrEnigma67 Aug 23 '22

It's also offensive to certain people. So it's also a symbol of that.

0

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

Why is it offensive? Showing support for ppl should never be offensive

2

u/MrEnigma67 Aug 23 '22

Christian families find it offensive and don't want it exposed to their children. Which is there right to do so whether you agree or not.

Did you forget the topic or something?

0

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

I mean if their views are based on bigotry against a group, then they shouldn’t be respected

If I make up a religion that finds the American flag offensive and make my kids follow that religion, should schools remove the American flag

2

u/MrEnigma67 Aug 23 '22

Their view is they don't agree with homosexuality and don't want to exposed to their children. They don't mean any ill will towards them, with the exception of a few fringe groups but they are small and generally shunned by all.

But by this logic gay people are bigots to religious types for not respecting their values.

0

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

If I make up a religion that’s anti chair and say I don’t want my kids exposed to chairs, is it up to the school to remove them?

1

u/applesauce_92 Aug 23 '22

how do you feel about the Christian flag being flown in public schools?

-1

u/unclepoondaddy Aug 23 '22

Well there’s a separation between church and state

However, let’s say there was some mass persecution of Christians. Having a symbol of support against that persecution would be 100% fine w me

1

u/Astro_physikz Aug 23 '22

This is the most downvoted reply I think I've ever seen. I'm sorry for your plight. I will upvote you so that you know at least someone did.

Eh it’s a ben Shapiro sub. Not like it was unexpected

1

u/Bankman220 Aug 25 '22

Yup. There was a pride flag in my kids classroom, I saw when I was picking him up. I immediately started convulsing and screaming "GAY, GAY" while pointing at the sign. I already caused a huge fuss over the sign, but I'm at a loss. I'm genuinely terrified my kid will catch the gay because of the rainbow flag.
