What else does an iTunes Backup NOT include? iTunes

This is my 4th time transferring data between phones using iTunes and the first time I noticed it didn’t back up something. I was always under the impression that it was a 1 to 1 copy, but it didn’t backup my TikTok drafts.

Is there anything else iTunes doesn’t back up? I have a few days before I wipe my old phone for a trade in so I want to make sure everything is on my new phone.

I’m also aware that Apple Books files don’t get transferred but I never used that app anyways.

An encrypted backup should be a 1-2-1 copy, I believe

always do encrypted and my drafts didn’t save

TikTok must decide to exempt themselves from the backup system then - I think app devs decide which data is able to be backed up.

The data from apps that gets included in a backup is dictated by the app developer. TikTok draft data doesn’t backup to iCloud or iTunes. I’ve not found any way to backup TikTok drafts.

Do any other popular apps not include data in a backup?

Also, as late as 2021 TikTok included drafts in iTunes backups since I did a successful transfer then. Must be a newer thing.

Not sure. I don’t even use TikTok I just know this because of friends who have gone through it.

I’d say look at the apps that are important to you and google how they interact with iTunes/iCloud before relying on it.
