Not even close. I can get 5-7 days of gps usage out of my Fenix 6X.

It won’t get me to switch.

As with many of their other “pro” devices, it feels very geared towards the low end “pro-sumer” that isn’t necessarily gonna use all the extra oomph. So it’s great for the general person who wants the extra features, but falls flat for all the actual pros.

I was considering making a joke but decided against it. Thank you, kind redditor, for succeeding where I have failed.

Yes this is like a Land Rover Discovery, not a G-Wagon.

Pros are not using G-Wagons.

Is it better for the general person? I feel like its a good watch for divers (maybe), but other than the larger screen and extra battery life, is there much more it can do vs the S8? Assuming the “general person” isn't doing any extreme sports/multi-day back country expeditions.

That’s true. I commented before I was fully privy to what all it was capable of. But I didn’t mean everyone. Just general people who WANT the extra features. Basically meaning it’s really nice to have but probably not gonna make or break it.

To be honest, I just want it because I miss my big, hulking G-Shock.

If you turn off pulse ox which isn't that useful anyway due to its accuracy, you can get like 20 days out of the 6x

I normally throw my Garmin on the charger when I’m in the shower. If it’ll charge enough to get 24 hours, then it would work for me. Though I have been on overnight or multi day trips in the woods with the Garmin, so I wonder if there’s a mode for that or not.

You're not their target audience. They are going for the occasional guy/girl who wants something stylish that they will probably want to wear when not doing some activity. And it wont get you to switch, yet. Only time until you get a feature that "you just want to check out", and then you like the fact that the watch is a pretty good compromise.
