All the people making jokes are rubbing me the wrong way. OP lost an animal that was important to them and it’s not really appropriate to joke about it imo. Imagine if their dog had been killed instead, how inconsiderate it would be to joke about that.

Sorry about the loss of your chickens OP. Looks like you’ve got to keep them locked up from now unless you’re there to supervise.

I don't see OP complaining about the jokes so I wouldn't make too much out of it.

Also, OP did post this to Reddit and that means. People are going to have any number of responses to it.

OP mentioned that the chicken was very important to them. Understandable for sure. But where was the chicken kept? How did the Bobcat get to it in the first place?

One would assume that the more important something is to you the more you take steps to ensure it's safety. In the case of a dog for example if it got hit by a car because their owner didn't have it on a leash when they were supposed to then yeah that's a shame but it's the owners fault that it happened.

If then dog was THAT important to them they would have kept it on a leash which would have prevented it from being hit by a car

I also think we should victim blame the grieving owner so that it feels a bit more morally acceptable to make fun of their loss

Me too. Never said I’m against the circle of life, just that I have empathy

A cat killed a bird and ate it. The bird was left unprotected by its owner.

"Is anybody home McFly?".
