I just want to hear the soothing sounds of a Tazer, see the mirrored polish of a Jimenez, and read the art of the Dim-mak

Some of us have have a little class and go to buc-ee's

u/Eltoncornwalker 1d ago
Honestly i think i have only bought jerky from there since they made it into our state

u/DetectiveChellick 1d ago
You gotta try one of their brisket sandwiches
3
u/Eltoncornwalker 1d ago
We’ve tried about 2/3 of everything in there and it’s all been fire. Brisket, tacos etc

u/Norskamerikaner 1d ago
The last one I went to didn't even have any milsurp stuff to gawk at. Just ammo inventory from the local Scheels marked up 25%, Chinesium knives, stun guns, and crack pipe prices from someone who obviously just inherited his grandpa's guns. One table was trying to sell new Colt AR-15A4s for $2000.
I saw that I walked out. Not even worth the mild entertainment anymore.
6
u/Aggie_1987 1d ago
I went to one in Allen, TX a few weeks back and it was an absolute joke, overpriced anodized AR builds and cheap junk everywhere
45
u/Ill-Sheepherder5207 1d ago
$2000 for this here rare sks no others like it I tell ya! Kim jong poon himself dun held it!

u/TT-33-operator_ 1d ago
Not all the time, I picked up four psl mags for 10$ a pop recently.
6
u/kcmexipacn 1d ago
That's a real steal lol 😆 everyone at my shows wants 75-95$ a pop

9/10 yeah, especially the corporate or store run booths
Sometimes the random one-off booths have some good finds. It’s where I finally got my M38 Carcano and a Makarov this year
1
u/WARD0Gs2 1d ago
How much was the carcano

4
u/AnonymousAmogus69 1d ago
M38, no cleaning rod. Healthy wood, no major pitting or rust, solid bore, 270 out the door

I managed to buy a couple of Aero lowers for $50 each during COVID at one. Really the only good experience
1
u/Desert_Lover89 6h ago
I dunno. The last three I’ve been too had these Zastava everywhere for 1000-1299. What’s the fair market?
149
u/FuddFucker5000 1d ago
There’s bad prices and then there’s this. That’s like a 500$ markup of current prices
50
u/lolman469 1d ago
Bro i was like 75% off a 1500 priced up zastava is $500 thats pretty good. Then my dyslexia moment ended and i realized it was $75 off. Lmao 1425 for a zpap be a joke.

ShootStraight is a joke. They’ve ruined the gun shows by taking them over, giving themselves the most space, and pushing out other vendors. Not sure why anyone buys from them.
2
u/EIJefeDeJefes 1d ago
They were alright back then, got me a M9A1 from them for around $400 during COVID. $1500 for a Zastava is crazy
4
u/blueFalcon687 1d ago
Its the lack of background checks for quite a few vendors. Ive seen my fair share of guys walking in just handing over cash for guns. No background check, no form, nothing. Its incredible.
5
u/pleirbag 1d ago
Depends on local laws they could be a dealer or possibly just a private person renting a booth to unload some
48
u/bowtie_k Did you even google it first? 1d ago
As evidenced by the almost daily "how'd I do" posts (despite our attempts to automatically filter them) where the less intelligent users of this sub get absolutely fleeced, I'm positive this dude sold several rifles.
I have no idea how in 2025, with the internet immediately accessible in your pocket, dudes don't just google before they buy... but it happens every day
20
u/Boring_Classroom_482 1d ago
Guess they’ve never heard of the top secret 🤐 sites like Gunbroker and gun.deals 🤦♂️
8
u/MikeyG916 1d ago
You don't even need to use those sites.
You can buy those right of site like Atlantic for $300 less when they're not even in sale.

With the added benefit of getting you’re credit card info stolen, what a pleasure!

Oh no, there is a random charge that my bank immediately fixes and sends me a new card. I guess you showed me paying 600 more lol

Florida gun shows are all sponsored by shoot straight and they control the pricing on all the tables. No other dealer can advertise lower than them.
Those shows are a joke and waste of time
1
u/irish-riviera 22h ago
Thats the most authoritarian bs
1
u/hotllama69 22h ago
Yep and they don’t even allow private sales on show premises. You can only bring guns to sell to dealers.
10
u/Sensitive-Cat-6069 1d ago
It’s worth mentioning that Shoot Straight is not merely a seller at the gun shows in Florida. They run the gun shows.
So selling at the shows is just another retail channel for them - more foot traffic than the stores get, an opportunity to liquidate some SKUs that are slow sellers, etc. In that context I am not terribly surprised.

they are hoping some jackoff with more money than sense walks in and sees 75% instead and swipes a card without two seconds on google.

Set up a booth and for $5 tell people the actual msrp of up to 3 guns. You’d make a killing

Guns shows aren't what they used to be. Now all they are is one giant gun shop that's only open for a few days. It seems the past 5-10 years every one i go to isn't worth the time. It costs money to get in, and then there is barely a smidge of anything to purchase that isn't the same price or more than the brick and mortar stores. I mean, those same Zastavas can be bought for $1100 online, plus taxes and transfer fees.

It's the instant gratification. People are willing to pay more when something is in person and they're still high on the idea of purchasing their dream toy

u/SnooCats6776 1d ago
I went to a show in Pa last year and it was the last one I will go to,. Everything was marked way up and not worth it.

2
u/fusillade762 1d ago
Those are overpriced even with 75 dollars off. 700-1100 seems to be the going rate right now. I think think the wood one is like 1062.99 brand new on Atlantics site.
2
u/peter_griffin222 1d ago
I guess I got a good deal for my m70 in California but seeing those gun show prices in Florida is insane
2
u/ExtensionCourse 1d ago
I was gonna say. We could pick up an M70 that would be less than their asking price even after having to pay shipping, transfer fee, sales tax, excise tax, and the DROS.
edit: Except ours will be neutered with a fin grip and 10 round magazine :[
2
u/Truonghthe 1d ago
Is that price included 1500 rounds 7.62x39? Gun show? More like smoking crack show.

I stopped going to gun shows. They are a joke. No deals at all. Everything marked up by 50%. Even the old military collector vendors don't want to part ways with anything without a steep price... only thing I ended up doing at one was buying cookies from this girl that had a cookie booth. They were pretty good!

u/TrevorB1771 20h ago
Why would you ever buy one from a gun show. They’re selling on zastavas website for slightly over 1000$
2
u/Mrdownes 1d ago
I paid just under $1000 for my M70 and even that was probably too much. $1500 is a joke
2
u/ScarsAndStripes1776 1d ago
That’s about what I paid as well. Good gun for sure but you’re getting gouged at $1500 OP.
2
u/TheGreatWildNorth 1d ago
Thats why i never go to gun shows.
Theres an entrance fee. Gun parts are more expensive than you can buy in a store or online. The guns are always more expensive than you can buy in a store or online. I cant see why anyone pays to go to those things anymore. 50% of the booths are not gun related.

I never understood why gun shows up mark prices by that much. And I'll be honest, I'm a crayon eater, and when I glanced at the pic I thought "shit! 75 percent off a 1000 dollar rifle! Steal!" Then I squinted, "oooohhhh what a dick!"
I think he'd purposely marked it like that just to suck someone in. Anyone can get a ZPAP for like 800 to 1200. I picked mine up for 990. And I'll never buy from a gun show. If it isn't the outrageous prices it's the type of crowds that keep me away.

That's crazy, considering you can go to a local gun store and pick one up for 900 or 1000. No entry fee or paid parking!

Wow! M70s are going for about 1,100 at the most at Houston shows and m92s average about 930-1,000

u/G47Don 1d ago
Man I live in NC and it’s the same fucking way. I literally only go to see 3 small time vendors. Two are old heads that sell surplus that I have scored old Galil mags, EG bakes (the bakes haven’t been around for a few years now) , always have random spine stamp steel mags. All for like $15-$20. Then there’s a younger dude that sells surplus and is always fair. He always hooks my 9 year old up with free shit like NOS canteens and mag pouches. Other than these 3 guys I wouldn’t step foot in the door anymore

Damn, that was the total I paid for my M90 thanks to the cost of shipping, the DROS fee, state taxes, and of course, the state excise tax.

I was at that show I told the salesmen these aks are usually around 1000 and he replied not these aks there’s a war going on and there banned now 😂

u/Dependent_Ad_5546 1d ago
Everything I’m seeing is 1000-1100$ online plus shipping and your local transfer. So what’s that 1100-1200$? So 1500-75 is 1425 so guy making 200-250$. If he sits there for 8 hours. Sells one. That’s 31$ an hour if he sells one gun. Not great.
10
u/Ill-Sheepherder5207 1d ago
31 an hour for doing absolutely nothing other than being a choad and sitting in a chair and hoping an idiot bites isn’t exactly bad either I wonder what they pay to be a vendor and how many the dude actually sells if any
2
u/ObligationOriginal74 1d ago
Still super high of a price. I payed $1,230ish with tax out the door for a ZPAP M70 exactly 7 days prior to the election in NW Florida. I could understand 1200 or even 1300 but not 1425. Thats crazy.
2
u/OkTradition6318 1d ago
I got my M70 ZPAP BNIB for $785 2 years ago online, NE Florida. I'm struggling with the price you paid, the price at this gun show... insanity!
1
u/ObligationOriginal74 1d ago
It was a panic buy before the election and at the time Zpap m70s were going for bout $1100ish online + transfer fee so i figured fuck it. Spend another $100ish and just buy it in person. I was worried about never being able to buy a import AK if Kamala had won.
1
u/OkTradition6318 1d ago
Lol, mine was a panic buy when Brandon was talking about banning military style rifles. My wife actually said you should get another rifle when he heard about it, and I bought it within the hour!
