In a book called Endgame one of the main characters is called Feo which means ugly in Spanish. It sounds like an actual name so this could work

I think your monster ate all your punctuation.

There are all sorts of monsters and evil or mischievous sprits is in folklore around the world that might be good inspiration. Like the ancient Greek gorgon, the Irish puka, or Fenrir in Norse mythology.

What about a Grotesque. That's the proper name for the hideous carved monsters on the sides of old cathedrals, they're commonly called Gargoyles but technically it's only a Gargoyle is it's also acting as a rain spout, if it's just a stone monster on a rooftop it's a Grotesque. The word literally means ugly and it's a type of monster-shaped statue. It's the kind of word the kids might have seen in a book and think is funny sounding and keep using it.
