It’s actually a felony to tamper with mailboxes not designated to your home address. Ask management if they have video surveillance over the mailbox and see who’s placing these stickers on the locks.
If they do, contact local authorities. If not, request they add a camera. If they don’t add cameras, I’d look into moving. That’s a security and personal safety issue.
I recommend the movie Bin-Jip or 3-Iron in English. It's about a guy who moves around from house to house living in people's empty places while they're away on vacation and repaying them by doing chores and stuff until he comes across a house that isn't actually empty
are burglars really so methodical and committed to doing this every month?
No, there’s more than likely a reason for this that reddit hasn’t guessed. And either the mailman is doing it or building management is. If both deny doing it, then start looking for a more nefarious reason.
Yes. Many units here are vacant now. We had a guy go in the vacant apartments and steal appliances. I commented on another post with the guys description.
Everyone here is assuming it's criminals. It could be, but I could also see it being the management company for some reason. Call them first and ask - it doesn't hurt. It could be criminal in nature, but it doesn't hurt to just rule out a very likely benign reason first.

The numbers do correspond! So that’s my best guess.
But this is so strange to me, are burglars really so methodical and committed to doing this every month? Or is this more nosy landlord style behavior?
Very odd
