Ugly stuff that accumulates in the bathroom sink screen basket Open

Anyone have an educated guess, or experienced this? This is what the drain cover screen in my bathroom had in it today. Daily, there weird things like this, but this is a particularly full. I clean the screen daily, so this accumulated in 24 hours. I assume it's coming up from the drain pipe? Nothing like it would have been trying to go down from the sink basin, I think I would have seen something!? I'm having all kinds of health troubles that doctors can't diagnose lately 😕

But where does it come from? And is it a parasite or something? Is it some kind of fungus?? Which direction does it come from? Because no, I really don't know...

Do you live with boys?

I do not. I live alone with 2 kitties, who don't hang around the sink at all

Ah, then likely a bacteria growth from deeper down your drains. Some houses have the AC drain with showers/sinks, so potentially your plumbing is set up in a way that is fostering the bacterial growth as well. I would snake the drain then use an anti-bacterial cleaner safe for your pipes.

Occam's razor says where there are showers drains, there's usually men splooging down them lol.

OHHHHHHH, GOT IT! 🤢🤮 May I ask what line of work you're in? I'm impressed by your knowledge!! I live in an apartment complex that always has water/sewer issues...if you bring an issue to them, they don't care, and it's getting old! Thank you so much for your reply!

I'm a marketing director for a personal finance company 😂. I'm currently actually training under a handyman. Planning on buying a duplex and managing the property ourselves (beyond those things that need specialty licenses), but I'm used to living in rentals where the landlords didn't care and I had to do the majority of fixes myself.

With apartments, especially old and renovated ones, the plumbing can be quite jank, but drains are also breeding grounds for bacteria and id venture the mesh screens like these don't let the pipe 'breathe' as much, so the moisture in the drain is much higher than a drain mesh with larger holes.
