Wyse Meter Solutions. Is this normal?

We probably live in the same building...mine is also using Wyse. Out utilities are about $160/month but it's 80% fees. Totally insane. Our actual usage is like $30. When we were out of town for 4 months, our bill was still $150/month. When I moved in, I immediately got a letter about Wyse being under investigation for billing and metering practices. Fuck Wyse.

Thank you for your insight. I am accustomed to BC Hydro. I had no idea this company was this much of a scam. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in a 1-year contract now.

Wyse is scum. Getting water directly from the municipality for a detached home is cheaper, but wyse is contracted to this building. I contacted wyse and they were unhelpful to say the least.

That’s bonkers. I rent a whole house 4 bedroom, have me my wife and two kids here, our Gas and Hydro equal to about exactly the same amount monthly. Our three month city water charge is around 180. You’re getting fucked. That city bill also includes garbage pickup. Last billing I got for November was 168 for heating (fortis) and 94 for electricity (bchydro) yeah it’s almost always 80% fees though even for those guys. I used 28 dollars in LNG and my bill was almost 170$. It’s crazy highway robbery but I think Wyse is skimming off you guys.

Oof. My water bill from the city is usually 350-400 and that's for three months and two households (in-law suite). If I'm mathing right, two months would be about 125 per household for my property so 135 for 1.5 months isn't insane to me but my city bill also includes stuff like garbage pickup... I don't have a yard or a pool or anything, just internal water use.

The electric seems pretty average for an apartment. I wonder if because electric is so heavily regulated in BC, they're collecting their profits on the water exclusively? I'm actually a bit more surprised that if the electric was going to be separately metered for each unit in the first place, why the metering wasn't done by Hydro from the get go. Does Wyse require buildings contracting with them for water to also do the electric metering through them? Seems kinda scummy.

I have seen other posts on Reddit that are in a similar situation. I believe you hit the nail on the head with what they're doing.

I just moved into an apartment building that uses Wyse Meter Solutions for its utilities. I am living in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit. I wondered if anyone here has experience with this company and can provide some insight. In my opinion, the water charges are way too high.

If this is the building near wallmart, i also applied for this but when i got to know they were charging for water as well i lost my mind.

The rent was 2100 for 2 bed but when included parking water heat/hydro it was projected 2500 so you better find a new place, a lot of new basement suites above ground go for 1800-2000 for 2 bed

That is correct. Creekview Heights on Deleenheer Road. It's unfortunate to hear that this is considered normal. The fees cost more than the actual water I use. I'm stuck in a 1-year contract so I need to ride it out. Thanks for your insight.

You can find a replacement and go and sometimes you can just the property manager know that you wanna move out and they already have a list of people interested. Not saying its not a nice building but charging that rent in Vernon is a crime tbh LOL.

Find people who want to move in and you move out , that bill is almost equal to a full 3 bedroom condo

No. Forced air heating only. Does this make a difference on my water bill? Electricity seems to be normal compared to the water bill.
