2022 Hyundai Tucson ADVICE

Hi all - I'm the most naive used car buyer in the universe. (Pleased to meet you.) I found a pretty nice Hyundai Tucson at a dealer - the "out the door" price is $25,425. It's AWD, with 19" wheels, a moonroof, and about 14,000 miles.

Can any kind soul out there take pity on me and help me figure out what I should reasonably offer, and what I should reasonably accept as a final deal? Edmunds' "Dealer Retail" appraisal is about $25,450.

I'm embarrassed at my lack of experience with this but I hate the idea of completely getting ripped off. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ...

If dealer retail is what they are selling it for, that's what they will use against you. You can either call dealerships with the exact spec that you are looking for, and shop that out the door with other dealerships until they beat it. Or just throw out 3-4k lower than the out the door price. They will probably not take it and will counter offer, goal is if they have addons, make them remove them, and work to get 1-2k off the price depending on how popular those models are in your area.

If we are talking the she language, out the door price should mean the car, tax, registration, transfer fees along with any dealer fees or add-ons. Your dealer retail number for car only is about 10-15% less than this. It would depend on local tax rate, dealer fees, and options (lo-jack, extended warranty, etc.)

If this is actual out the door price and is equipped similarly to Edmunds estimate, this is an average deal, a few hundred less than average retail. So not overpriced and not a bargain either.

Just double check that out the door price is what you are paying and NOT the retail price before taxes/fees.
