I think im experiencing a dark night of the soul?
Im not sure what to think anymore, all I know is I don't feel conviction anymore, I don't feel God's presence, im struggling with sin and letting go of it. I had a spiritual awakening 5 1/2 with a total collaspe of self, I don't feel emotion anymore just worldly sorrow for my dog who I lost 2 months ago, he was my spirit guide, my best friend. Idk just feeling detached and lost

When a man sees a woman, he feels a rush of desire for her. He can make her his wife and his desire will burn for many years. But given time, that desire will fade away increasingly. If he only had that desire, his love for her will vanish and it will be revealed that he never really loved her, but rather was just indulging in his desire.
As he first notices his desire fading, he is faced with a choice. He can either cling to that desire, try to rekindle it, and then eventually leave her once it is gone, or he can begin to replace that desire with actual love, which is unconditional and thus does not come with the condition that she keep his desire stoked. That way, even if she utterly fails to illicit any desire in him anymore, he still has reason to continue to love her all the same. Once the beauty of youth has passed, that is all that will really last.
God designed our passions that way. God does not desire us to go to the grave still burning with passions. God uses our passions to coax us into proper living, but then he lets them die down so we might be sober enough to really choose lasting love or not.
God has done this to you. He has ignited your passions just long enough that you had the motivation to seek and to open your eyes. But now that you have seen what you needed to, he is pulling those passions back and giving you a real choice. Do you seek after him into that cold darkness, grasping for his touch though you can't be sure it will ever come back? Or do you stop once faith becomes burdensome, thus proving that you were merely following a carrot on a stick the whole time, and now that the carrot is gone, you will move no more?
