You can see where your eyes are at in the reflection and it ain’t in the center. Way too high. The lamps are ridiculous.

1/10. Would not like to watch TV here.

Too high. Too much tacky shit.

I'll let my wife know.

The lamps are actually nice —just not where they are. Maybe on a sofa console or at the entry. If you do nothing, at least remove the dish towel 🤦‍♂️

Or grow a pair and tell her to stop putting dumb lamps in front of the fucking TV, and lower it to a height that doesn’t look absurd.

Try again. You should just give your wife a painted picture of a TV as framed art, that way she can use it as a back drop for any knick knacks she wants to put in-front of it. Also, ensure said framed tv art work is not at eye level.

My wife likes do add the bs in front of the tv. I feel your pain.

u/Witty_Wedding6616 5h ago

But height is best you can do. If you can recline at all on the couch I’d say leave it. My tv about same height after making room for the center speaker. It’s not egregiously high, so I’d say not worth the effort to tinker

2

u/GoodTroll2 5h ago

Oh yeah, we all just kinda slouch on the couch and it's fine. No chiropracter bills so far...

Almost… should have gotten a smaller tv so you wouldn’t block it with the lamps /s

Which center speaker is that?

u/Loddez 4h ago

Add a nice rug to decrease reflections while you’re at it!

u/magentayak 2h ago

No. Lose the lamps.

Height is acceptable. Move the lamps.

1

u/Rockhound2012 1h ago

The height is acceptable, but the lamps are a major party foul.

Please ignore the lamps (my wife loves to put crap in front of the TV for "reasons" so I have to constantly move them but it's not being watched like that) and the amp and Xbox (both temporary, no longer there). For reference, the TV is 85" and the room has 8' ceilings.

I can't really go any lower unless I remove the feet from the console, which would probably work, but I like how they look and it would require me to completely remount the TV as there is no way to simply lower it without pulling out the lag bolts.

The lamps cannot be ignored. Tell her to stop putting stuff in front of the TV! It’s silly to keep moving them every day.

You should see the flowers that she puts in front of the TV in the bedroom.

8

u/DDustiNN_ 6h ago

Why is that even a thing? Do some people think partially blocking the TV is a decoration requirement? I really don’t get it.

1

u/AntoinePlaysGames 5h ago

Even though it’s criminal to block a screen, I’d love to see the flowers she puts there

u/Mythology18 7h ago

I'm pretty chill, but it'd be over if my SO put shit in front of the TV.

why are your speakers so big?

7

u/GoodTroll2 7h ago

I mean, they're Paradigm Studio 100s, they only come in big.

3

u/Starkid1987 7h ago

If they still sound good and work they're likely better than most new stuff out there.

@OP I think it looks good minus the lamps :D

3

u/soupeh 6h ago

Huh? It's not like floor standers are obsolete. Soundbars and small format mesh systems are better than most TV speakers sure but the best audio is still achieved by discrete surround layouts. Small satellites and a sub can get decent results but there's no replacement for displacement as they say and larger cabinets and drivers will always mean better low end and a more complete soundstage.

u/RareFaithlessness 6h ago

Reminds me of 1995 when my parents had a Pioneer speaker system.

1

u/Illustrious-Pair-511 6h ago

THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING 🤣🤣

-2

u/TNJDude 5h ago

The TV's so big, if the center was eye height when seated, it'd be only a foot off the ground, LOL. Other than the lamps blocking part of the screen, it looks OK.

-3

u/fionnkool 6h ago

Yes,nearly there. Hard to please here as you see😂
