Hate to have to tell you this but, yes, definitely too high.

I think TV's above fireplaces is just an idea that needs to be permanently buried

My parents built their house off of my dad’s plans he drew up. Guess where the fireplace is, in the friggin corner off to the side so you don’t have to put the tv on top of it

I’ll allow TVs above fireplaces… if the fireplace is on the floor below and the tv is at a reasonable height.

It’s higher than the CEILING fan…

This is what I’m saying. Most of the time I see these and mutter to myself “for real?”

5

u/Zealousideal-Buy8039 17h ago

I think it’s too low still got room left on top.

u/Dcybokjr 13h ago

There's at least 4 solid inches there.

Whoops.

Just mount it on the ceiling and buy a dentist chair.

I mean with all that blank wall space on either side of the fire. To put it up there is just silly. and all that junk on the right hand side whats going on with that room man ?

  1. get a nice corner cabinet and stick TV on the cabinet in the right hand corner.

  2. turn those ceiling lights off and get a nice feature/ floor lamp lighting

3 get rid of all the furniture that doesn't need to be there. Why is everything on the right hand side of the room ?

  1. once you have cabinet the play station and all those extra things put them inside it behind doors.

  2. Tv should be sitting on the height of those silver table things. If you can find a cabinet thats around that height.

Maybe he just moved in

are the people trolling here? just look at the entire sub you already know the answer. but thanks for sharing, It is always good to see this

3

u/Crans10 17h ago

Of course it is. You would have to spend less than 2 mins on this sub to not know otherwise. Try putting it on a TV stand to the left of the fireplace and move the couch.

3

u/IcyFrost-48 16h ago

Are YOU high? C'mon, man.

2

u/omg_its_dan 17h ago

Nah it could go up at least another few inches, what’s wrong with you?

2

u/Illustrious_Judge409 17h ago

No, you need to knock a hole through the ceiling to the room above! Get that fucker higher!!!

2

u/CaveManta 17h ago

I mean, because you're asking...

2

u/SanDiego_32 15h ago

TV screens above a fire mantle is usually way too high.

1

u/GoFornicatethyself 15h ago

It's below the lights 🤷

1

u/ExpensiveEcho7312 15h ago

This is closer to the ceiling than the ground 💀

1

u/tazor_face 15h ago

Too high. Level with the ceiling fan. Lol

1

u/GuyRayne 14h ago

If you have to ask. It is.

1

u/djmoans 14h ago

I love this sub. What do you do if you have a horrible layout of the room no matter what. you are forced to use the corner of a room instead of the center? That’s what ai have to do

1

u/BlackWhiteCoke 14h ago

You’re standing up taking this photo and it’s still too damn high

1

u/WillGrindForXP 14h ago

This is such an ugly looking setup!

1

u/Rockhound2012 13h ago

If your TV were in the center of the room, your ceiling fan wouldn't be able to spin...so yeah...too high.

1

u/Decent_Table_4959 13h ago

Rule of thumb: if the top of your tv is the same height as your ceiling fan, your tv is too high.

1

u/carina484 13h ago

Dude this looks like absolute garbage

1

u/Dull_Ranger_3943 13h ago

My Chiropractor loves r/tvtoohigh

1

u/BarthRevan 13h ago

Imagine how much more comfortable your long gaming sessions would be if you just had to look straight instead of up. Your tv should be at eye level, bruh. Trust me. You’ll thank me later.

1

u/MarijadderallMD 12h ago

The room is just set up completely wrong tf??? Tv on the wall to the right, couch on the right to the middle facing the fireplace, big couch in the middle to the left facing the tv. Get that thing down from there!

1

u/NathnDele 3h ago

By the way, to the right are windows, to the left is an entrance to another room

1

u/RollingEddieBauer50 12h ago

Rule of thumb: when the blades of a ceiling fan are damn near touching your television….there’s a pretty good chance you mounted her too high. Oh btw the tv is also too small.

1

u/InsertRadnamehere 12h ago

Horridly so.

1

u/Maraculousboxer12 9h ago

Not high enough

1

u/Tipnfloe 9h ago

Nah put it higher, oh you cant

1

u/HeimrekHringariki 8h ago

Why not just mount it on the roof and be done with it. Maybe have it mounted on the fan for some unique viewing-experience?

1

u/Gargun20 8h ago

Absolutely

1

u/R0m4ns35 6h ago

You’ll know during your first show or 24hours, if you get neck tension (or neck tension head aches).

1

u/R0m4ns35 6h ago

Will the heat from the fireplace bake your TV? I honestly don’t know. There is the factors of heat rising that does leave the fire place.

1

u/NathnDele 3h ago

No, the house was specifically designed for a TV to be put there so they made sure the fireplace doesn’t interfere

1

u/Suspicious_Weird_373 6h ago

Why do American houses always seem to be decorated like the canteen of a shit factory?

1

u/NathnDele 3h ago

We just took down our decorations

1

u/pickledprick0749 6h ago

It is legit higher than the ceiling fan

1

u/Lucky_Louch 5h ago

When your TV is interfering with the god damn ceiling fan you can safely assume it is too high. Just stop and consider how your neck feels after 5 minutes staring up at it while playing videogames. Does it feel good? It not only looks completely rediculous, it is a legit health hazard. Utter disgrace.

1

u/presidentkokoro 3h ago

Its so high that if you move your head just a little bit, you can go back and forth between watching the fan spin and the TV..

1

u/chilledoutmonkey 3h ago

Yes, it is. If you can see the reflection of your ceiling light from the TV, it's too high and you need a kick in the balls for that.

1

u/Peezer3 2h ago

I think the fact the ceiling fan can actually hit it should tell you your answer right there

1

u/ObviousThrowAvvay420 1h ago

Have you tried scraping the ceiling?

It could go up a few inches, honestly.

1

u/Sea_Drink7287 1h ago

Why not just put it on the ceiling facing down?

1

u/vaspost 42m ago

I've never understood why so many people feel the need to put TVs above fireplaces. My fireplace is on an alternate wall and it works just fine. It's how the room was designed to work.
