How. Was the one chick faking being hit?
243
u/St_Ramirez_ 2d ago
Couldn't say, but the video of the news interview says that police said "no one was hurt" Probably thought she was and freaked out

Like that dumbass cop who thought he got hit, did a barrel roll, then shot into his own police car because he heard a damn acorn..........

I just imagine the cop from South Park waving his hands saying "alright nothing to see here nobody got hurt."
73
u/gunsof 2d ago
Maybe she was in shock and thought she had been hit. She also fell on the ground, so maybe she thought that impact was the shot.
People are making fun but in a normal situation if we weren't so overexposed to gun violence it would be normal to go into shock or become hysterical after someone shoots at you.
11
u/MaddestLake 2d ago
Exactly. Iâm going to guess that maybe .05% of the Reddit population has ever been shot at (vets), and most of the tough guys making fun of this woman would piss themselves in a similar situation.

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug.
I've seen alot of videos of people thinking they were shot when in reality they bumped their leg or some BS during a shooting.

When the brain is primed a certain way, the senses can mislead. I read you can prank someone in a room full of smokers by sneaking up and touching their shoulder with an ice cube, they will immediately assume they've been burned.
4
u/MmmBra1nzzz 2d ago
I mean, I almost think thatâs the best move⌠pretend that you got hit so they stop shooting?

You don't know how you're going to act in a high stress, life or death situation until you're in it. She did what her body told her to do.

u/cocochunkz 2d ago
Yea kind of weird because there was no blood on the ground where that lady had be lying down after the first shot

She was in fact, not good.
What society we have created. A true marvel.
308
u/Moon_lit324 2d ago
This isn't most of society. We've created a pretty great non violent society in all honesty, people like this are the outliers. Just remember we are seeing all this because we are on the sub to see it lol it's not a normal occurrence in normal life.

My hometown of Memphis would beg to differ. This is a sad reality in a number of places.
37
u/LoveIsDaWay 2d ago
It's like a different country.
23
u/Tartage 2d ago
As a former Memphian, knowing how it used to be and what it has become, I'm never going back unless under extreme circumstance.
6
u/Legitimate_piglet41 2d ago
I moved away 8 years ago and only go back to see family a couple times a year. I couldn't imagine still living there.

Mane. I love this city, but it's trying to kill me. Hate how a lot of my identity is just trying to survive this place and laughing about how this is a city made for criminals.

Currently living in Memphis and yeah it's not lawless for the most part but you can't start arguments without some form of gun being introduced. It's like no one uses fists(not that that's great) but it goes from mean words to gunfire with no in-between. Oh and road rage is fuckin rampant.

u/doomsdaymelody 2d ago
People like this are not necessarily outliers. We have created a society that is expanding a wealth gap that will create more scenarios like this. Desperate people do dumb things and our society, while generally peaceful, is currently generating a LOT of desperate people.
16
18
u/ZackZak30 2d ago
The man who shot the woman working at BK is not a âdesperate personâ, he is a criminal. Most people in America do not do this
→ More replies35
u/Much_Smell7159 2d ago
This isn't "desperate people" these are people who can barely survive in normal society due to their own inability to control emotions and anticipate consequences for their actions.

Crime rates are the lowest they have been in 50 years. Internet is not a accurate estimation of reality. Never forget that you will be fed the content with the most interactions. And everyone has figured out that the easiest interactions to source are angry ones. So we are fed things that make us angry. Because we engage with that.

I remain stunned not only at the content, but also that we are a society that will keep the camera phone rolling like we have been hired to turn these moments into documentary materialÂ
38
u/Planet-Funeralopolis 2d ago
We donât need surveillance cameras anymore because people will film crimes being committed themselves, criminals will even film themselves committing crimes which has to be the most idiotic thing ever.
10
→ More replies5
u/MonkeyBred 2d ago
Even more idiotic than committing the crime or uploading the video? đ
3
u/Planet-Funeralopolis 2d ago
To upload it needs to be recorded so I would put them on the same area of idiotic because thatâs just asking to be caught. Doing the crime is not always idiotic depending on the crime but if you assault someone over a burger maybe thatâs a sign you should find help.

u/Trextrev 2d ago
Thank god the idiots that are willing to shoot someone over a burger and the guys going to the range every weekend donât seem to have much overlap on a venn diagram.
Took his time and still managed to miss twice from ten feet away. The dumb head lean of his saved that womanâs life.

u/mcrib 2d ago
Mama gets shot working at Burger King on camera with witnesses in a location that I am sure has multiple cameras, with the suspect vehicle on camera, zero arrests after nearly a year. Guy shoots a CEO with far less of a breadcrumb trail, police piece together a task force and find him in another state. There are two levels of justice.

And this is one of the reasons why I left food service. Great pay once you hit management buy wasn't worth dealing with combative customers with open carry permits that would come into my store frequently.

u/rmscomm 2d ago
An important lesson for modern times. The shooter will âhave his wayâ in the end as well as a litany of charges to go along with a simple error that could have been rectified. The âfriendsâ who all piled in the car will collect their own aiding and abetting charges as well as any other chargers prosecution adds on especially as they all left the scene. The bystanders and hopefully the viewers of this incident will observe an old but new survival skill; a bullet is always anonymous and unless you are directly involved, an old school Western sharp shooter, Superman or simply want to get hurt please stay back and away from situations like this.
