Does anyone else wear socks 24/7, only taking it off to shower or change?
25
u/Wood_Elf_Wander 1d ago
Yep. I have poor circulation and thermoregulation so my feet are always cold. Most of the year I wear 2 pairs if I'm not wearing shoes/slippers.

u/Cheepshooter 1d ago
Merino wool blends will change your life if you aren't already using them. Some on Amazon aren't stupid expensive.

u/StrongManufacturer90 1d ago
Yes, I can't stand my feet being uncovered. The only time I will go a length of time without any on, is just after a shower and I make sure I have slippers on instead
2
u/LordBigSlime 1d ago
When you go swimming, do you wear those thin little "boat shoes" the whole time?
2
u/StrongManufacturer90 1d ago
I actually do. It's not very often I go swimming. But I have a pair that I've had for years for the odd occasion. It's really weird, I know this. But I just can't help it

I get that, and I get where the doctor is coming from in a way. Mines not that bad, I don't have an issue looking at them, or touching them. I just don't like them uncovered. Same in bed, doesn't matter how warm it is, I will have my socks on and have to have the blanket over them, otherwise I can't sleep.
2
u/LordBigSlime 1d ago
Fair enough! Deleting my last comment because it's not something I like to put out there haha
2
u/StrongManufacturer90 1d ago
No worries man, I get it. I've been there with other aspects of life.
3
u/LordBigSlime 1d ago
Take care, my friend, and make sure to always have a second pair of those boat shoes because they get lost so easily.

Nah, quite the opposite I like being barefoot at home. If I'm wearing socks it's because I've been out and haven't bothered to take them off or it's just legit too cold.

u/LukeSkywalker2O24 1d ago
I legit only wear socks when I have to wear shoes. I can’t imagine wearing socks 24/7

u/TurgidGravitas 1d ago
Yeah, same. I like my dogs to roam free. Something about the cool and clean feeling of floors on my cool and clean grippers.

Yes. Except in summer when I wear sandals all day — but I wear socks to bed year round. My feet were frostbit many years ago. The circulation in my toes is poor. My little tootsies are much happier in warm socks at night.

My feet sweat hard, in the summer I'm rarely wearing socks/shoes...its bare feet and sandals because well fuck, my shoes start to become rancid in the summer, even the lightweight shoes, fuck casual shoes. I tried all the tricks. deodorizer. baking soda. I don't have fungal infections either. I hate my feets.

u/altruismandme 1d ago
Try gekks socks. It’s the only thing that made my daily work shoes stop smelling.

u/Old_Goat_Ninja 1d ago
Winter yes, summer no. During winter I always have socks on but during the summer they come off as soon as I get home. I have tile flooring and the cool floor feels good during the summer.

u/No-Spell1496 1d ago
ME! Feet are absolutely disgusting to me. No socks for shower and no socks for bed, but you'll never ever catch me without socks ANY other time.

u/RightContribution2 1d ago
Yes, because of neuropathy and poor circulation. If i don't, my feet start to hurt whenever they start to get cold.
Stepping on a grain of sand can feel like a sharp lego block when I'm barefoot.
I change socks every other day, shower often, and wear slippers inside as well. Getting old sucks.
5
u/AsparagusOverall8454 1d ago
No. That would lead to some seriously smelly feet and probably a nasty fungus infection
2
u/sterlingphoenix Yes, there are. 1d ago
I do when it's not really warm, and frankly I hate it, but I don't have a choice ):
2
u/nneighbour 1d ago
I wear socks all the time. In the summer I generally don’t wear them, but the rest of the time I always have a pair on.
2
u/AriasK 1d ago
No. I'm touch hypersensitive. As soon as I'm home and relaxing, not distracted by a physical activity, I notice and am annoyed by everything touching my skin. Socks, underwear and bras are the worst. They all feel tight and claustrophobic and either hurt or itch. As soon as I'm home I change into loose fitting pants and a giant t-shirt and bare feet. I might put socks back on if it's absolutely freezing.

I do. It’s a sensory issue for me. I’m fine wearing slippers without socks, but I prefer with. I have no issues with flip-flops, which I sometimes think is a little odd, but I guess it makes sense since it puts something my soles and the ground
I make it fun by only wearing novelty socks. When I was little and my mom did laundry, I would help match the clean socks. I noticed my parents and my siblings (9 and 12 years my senior) only had boring, white ankle socks, while mine were colorful with things like flowers and Disney princesses. I thought part of growing up was having to give up fun socks. I was overjoyed to learn that adults can wear them too! I am proud to say that, at 26, I’ve still never owned a pair of white ankle socks. I’m wearing green socks with bunnies right now!
2
u/Ok-Metal-4719 1d ago
Only if wearing my compression socks that day. Otherwise I’ll be barefoot when at home.
2
u/tiktoksuckmyknob23 1d ago
i take mine off in bed. i live in a house full of slobs, and there's pet hair on the floor, so my feet are always in my socks and my green crocs at all times.
2
u/drunky_crowette 1d ago
I haven't worn socks in a few years, and when I do wear them I only do because I had to wear non-slip boots (bad storms, snow/ice) and would get blisters otherwise and take them off as soon as I'm back home.
We might be polar opposites.
2
u/Katadaranthas 1d ago
Pretty much. It reduces sweat foot and cold foot. I wear slip on sandals in the house so they stay clean, but if I don't wear socks with sandals, they sweat. My feet can't slide around in the bedsheets because it feels weird. So yes, all the time.
I also change socks midday to keep feet fresh.
2
u/Ok_Requirement_3116 1d ago
Yup. It started when my RA hit my feet. Now they feel awful when not covered in socks.
2
u/Calicat05 1d ago
Me, iI inly remove socks for shower/bath time. I can't stand my feet touching things and socks provide a buffer for that.

To all those saying they hate socks - you folks don't wear loafers right?
2
u/BourbonNCoffee 1d ago
I can’t sleep in socks. I’ll wear them if I’m not wearing house shoes bc I don’t like dirt and hair on my feet.
2
u/Kooky_Hamster_3769 1d ago
Yeah pretty much besides when I take them off in my sleep. I need to stop though because they’re getting way too tight on my ankles
2
u/False-Definition15 1d ago
I always have socks on. I would rather saw my feet off at the ankle than to feel the little inevitable grains of dirt under my feet from walking barefoot.
2
u/Candymom 1d ago
I wear socks maybe 1% of the time. I hate my feet covered. If it’s not snowy or slushy outside I’m in my orthopedic flip flops.
2
u/TheRealSoloSickness 1d ago
Almost. I'll slip em off sometimes in bed. During the summer, I try to go on a little barefoot walk once in a while to toughen them up.

u/Even-Paper7354 1d ago
🙋I have socks on 24/7, minus showering, going to the beach and/or SOME outdoor summer occasions when I throw on my Crocs. My house has hardwood floors and couldn’t imagine being barefoot. Meanwhile my wife is barefoot in home constantly 🤷♂️.

u/JuggaliciousMemes 1d ago
socks are a scourge upon the face of this planet, if i dont need to wear socks then I don’t even wanna see them
2
u/WheresFlatJelly 1d ago
I'm just the opposite. I hate the feeling of socks; working right now and already have my flip flops out and taking my socks off while typing this
My feet can't "breathe" all covered up. When I joined the military, before going to bootcamp I had to borrow a couple pairs of socks from my dad because I didn't own any

In the winter I usually sleep with socks but not the regular socks I wear during the day. I have special fluffy sleeping socks. I also apply moisturizer and vaseline before I put them on, it makes the skin extra soft!

I used to be someone who only wore socks when necessary, but at some point I realized keeping socks on all the time makes my feet more comfortable. Also, I no longer have to deal with stepping on freezing floor tile.
1
u/aflyingfck 1d ago
I hate being barefoot, so I can completely relate to this. I don't wear open toed shoes, wear socks to sleep and wear pool shoes.
1
u/SpiderDeadrock 1d ago
One of the best feelings is to take my socks off after work. Two words for you:
flip
flops.

Yes, except I do take em off for sleeping the majority of the time. Otherwise always wearing them.

u/cache2mouf 1d ago
The only time I wear socks is when I have to like when I have to put on shoes. Raw doggin’ shoes is nasty to me
Barefoot at home. Barefoot in bed. Try to be barefoot when I’m on grass
1
u/GoatCovfefe 1d ago
Nah, your feet need to breathe, bro.
I mean do what you want and whatever makes you happy, but your overall foot health does not depend on wearing socks as much as possible.

I literally cannot sleep in socks (unless I'm camping which means I'm gonna sleep like shit anyway lol), and after a shift, taking off the boots and socks is heavenly. My feet sweat like a monster, my worst record was 3 pairs in a day.
1
u/Embarrassed_Angle_59 1d ago
I'm the opposite. I do everything I can to be in 1) Chacos or 2) flip flops

1
u/danathepaina 1d ago
Yep, almost always. It’s chilly where I live so I only wear sandals without socks maybe 5 days out of the year. And it’s always cold at night. 🥶
1
u/LimitSelect9976 1d ago
I wear mine in the shower. Never have to clean my socks. The only time they see the light of day is when I finally wear a pair all the way down. Same for swimming. I swim with my socks on also
1
u/BON3SMcCOY 1d ago
"You're not fucking me with socks on." - my friend that didn't give a shit about how cold I was hahaha
1
u/Responsible-Fun4303 1d ago
Winter yes unless they get dirty/wet but even then I usually put clean ones on lol. I’m cold all the time 😔
1
u/ctrlx1td3l3t3 1d ago
Used to until I had to get steel toe boots for work. Now I take my socks off when I get home and let my feet breathe til I gotta get ready for work the next day. Sometimes I still wear them to bed if I'm cold but not often

u/dogewonders_p 1d ago
If you do.. are your feet soft? I’ve always wondered if my moms feet are soft bc she always wear socks

I wear socks about 22 hours a day. The other 2 is after shower and letting them air out and then I lotion them and put a night pair of socks.

They are dirty, it increases the possibilities to get "foot mushroom" and dry skin.
1
u/RoundCollection4196 21h ago
I only wear socks when wearing shoes. Otherwise I'm always in flip flops, rarely am I bare feet
1
u/TheLizardKing89 20h ago
In the winter, yeah, I wear socks almost all the time. Once it gets warm, I go barefoot inside.
1
u/lalalaladididi 18h ago
Never wear socks indoors. Only wear socks with boots.
When the weather is warm then I wear hiking sandals outdoors. No socks.
2
u/Gold-Judgment-6712 17h ago
I take off my socks immediately after coming home. I hate wearing socks.

Not sure why anyone wears socks all the time. Maybe if you live in Siberia. I live where heat is never required and only wear socks when going to work.

u/Longjumping-Oil-7419 1d ago
I take them off in bed cause the bottoms are dirty
