r/NCAAW 2024-25 Top 25 Poll - Week 7 User Poll

First, let's take a look at last week's winners of the game predictions. We had two very accurate winners that were each ONLY TWO POINTS off the actual game score.

Now, onto this week's results of our new Top 25! After Notre Dame's big win last Thursday, they and UConn almost flipped identical spots. Our other undefeated teams (Michigan State, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech) continue to rise in the rankings. Cal is our new member to the poll this week, climbing seven spots, as Iowa State is knocked out of the Top 25.

I know these are empty complaints but there is obvious bias against UConn for having us ranked below USC. There is absolutely no reason they should be above us

I agree, but UConn can prove you right on Saturday 🤷‍♂️

Yep hopefully

The fact that UConn got one FPV is a far more egregious demonstration of bias than the fact that 26 people collectively think Southern Cal is slightly more deserving of a higher ranking.

It’s silly to give a FPV to anyone other than UCLA at this point.

But that’s just one person who’s being stupid. When the majority of people think that USC deserves to be above us, that’s a collective bias that is concerning.

What’s so funny. I was correct at the time?

  1. You put a period after a question and a question mark after a statement. That’s pretty funny.

  2. You find it “concerning” that people have a different opinion than you. Concerning. Like, people should be concerned that a team is rated one slot higher than another in December. Perhaps, they should consult with their primary care physicians. Concerning. lol

  3. You were wrong. They were right. Perhaps you’re the one who’s biased. I mean, clearly you are, but also perhaps.

  4. Reddit got it right. The AP poll got it wrong. Granted, maybe UConn gets the benefit of decades of being elite here and not necessarily bias from the AP voters. Of course, I’m not the one complaining about bias in a scenario where it really doesn’t matter, like at all.

  5. Concerning

  6. lol

Wow the fact you’re committing to this is crazy haha. I used concerning because I was emitting what you started by saying it was egregious that someone voted us one. Yeah I was wrong in the end but at the time my statement was a fact. We had a better resume than USC therefore, we deserved to be voted higher. Did you ever know someone can be right and wrong at the same time? I don’t think you do…

at the time my statement was a fact.

I don’t think you understand what that word means: fact.

A sports team’s “resume” is inherently subjective. There exist exactly zero collective metrics by which you can objectively rank women’s college basketball resumes in mid-December.

A poll is not meant to be objective or factual.

It is entirely a matter of opinion based on facts. How people weigh those facts is subjective. Some people lean more heavily on the eye ball test. Some consider other factors like injuries, road weariness, you name it.

The fact that you’re doubling down on something so meaningless is a riot though. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have a serious discussion with someone who can’t divorce him/her self from a bad opinion.

And it is a bad opinion.

Regardless of whether you honestly believe you were “right,” the fact that you thought it was some sort of concerning injustice is what makes it bad.

It is a trivial matter for one.

The separation between the two teams in this poll was razor thin for another.

Thirdly, there are 3+ months remaining in the season and no one in his right mind cares at all about whether his favorite team is ranked here or there in mid-December if things are going well in his life.

I could go on.

Something’s really going on here.

Just weird weird shit.

Amusing, but weird.

Dang you’re a lot more stupid than I thought. I’m better of talking to a wall because at least a wall can’t contradict itself

Your super power is an absolute lack of shame. I certainly hope you’re a teenager or younger because otherwise… yikes.

some thoughts:

- I feel like UConn is pretty obviously a top 5 team whereas I don't think USC has shown that yet. Excited for Saturday's matchup nonetheless.

- Not ranking Kansas State at all is wild.

- I'm not really understanding Nebraska being ranked at all?? I guess we will see when they play GT but they've literally beaten no one and lost to Creighton. feels like they've had their chances to be good the past several years with Markowski and Shelley but never delivered and now with Shelley gone and Potts injured, I'm just not seeing it idk. But happy to see them prove me wrong!

- Head to head may be less relevant in March but right now I can't really justify having SC ahead of UCLA or Duke ahead of Maryland.

- Love how bullish this sub is on Vanderbilt. They're one team I find easy to root for because they're usually always the sad forgotten one when it comes to SEC sports. Hope they can continue their successes.

Hard agree on Nebraska - same goes with Ole Miss. They haven't really shown much promise and both have wins over a very cupcake schedule. Ole Miss held their own against USC, but at this point IDC if you compete with top teams, you gotta BEAT some solid teams to be considered in my rankings

3

u/neptunetheemystic Georgia Bulldogs 20d ago

yeah I don’t have Ole Miss ranked either. idk how long they can skate by on “we kept it close with USC,” they really don’t have a resume outside of that.

4

u/global-gamer Washington Huskies 20d ago

A lot has been said about LSU's schedule, but they've beaten all the best teams on their schedule (UW, NCST, STAN), and Ole Miss has had an absolutely horrendous non-conference schedule and have lost the 3 best teams on their schedule (NCST, UConn, and USC)

2

u/boredymcbored 20d ago

We can't act like they didn't play all those games close as hell though. And before it's said, I don't think NC State is a bad team talent wise but they also have a scoring drought and team flow issue. They SHOULD be ranked higher and played like a good team the first half of the Ole Miss game.

Vanderbilt sports is on the UPPP tho‼️ We’re going to a bowl game, Pavia is coming back next season, we just beat #1 FSU in women’s soccer in the NCAA tournament(upset ofc), WBB is a top 25 team(whether the AP voters are awake enough to realize or not), we have an SEC POTY candidate in her SOPHOMORE SEASON, we have the SEC FOTY(don’t even try to fight me on this, I alr know I’m right), WBB & MBB are 10-1 (losses to either top 20 team or undefeated team), MBB is on the up with Byington, Baseball is always good, we won the 2023 women’s bowling championship??, our women’s lacrosse team is on the up, and our women’s volleyball team’s inaugural season is 2025. Candice Storey Lee is one of, if not, the best Athletic Director in the country right now with how quickly she is turning our programs around.

yesss I love that for y’all. and you (and Oklahoma) stopped Alabama from making the CFP and for that I’m eternally grateful.

My only guess for whoever didn't rank us is using the logic that we have an easy non con and lost to the only top 15 team we played.

Who tf put Maryland at #25 ?? Literally what

9

u/neptunetheemystic Georgia Bulldogs 21d ago

Maryland below Duke is kinda crazy to me

6

u/bluehooloovo Michigan State Spartans 20d ago

Whoever didn't rank Tennessee at all: I have questions.

Whoever ranked Michigan State 9th, I am kissing you on the mouth. I think you're a little optimistic at this point of the season, but I'm on board with it.

Random thoughts: -Georgia Tech & Tenn both seem to only be getting better and better -Utah is still underrated (their only loss is to an pretty solid Northwestern that just beat a very good UNLV) -Iowa State being outside the top 25 and Iowa being in the top 25 was not on my bingo card -my mid majors: Richmond > Middle TN > St Joe’s > Quinnipiac > Harvard (but respect these teams getting some love)
