Ask a Local! Where to go for Dinner?
Husband is taking me out for dinner for my birthday. Looking for a recommendation for an “off the beaten path” eatery that will be open tomorrow. We are pretty much open to whatever. Doesn’t have to be fancy. I’d honestly prefer wearing jeans.
Also, not Papi’s.

discussion / opinion Anyone here have a garage gym? I’ve got a question about flooring
Two car garage, need to park on one side and my gym is on the other side.
I know stall mats are usually the most recommended but at $100 each it’s a bit out of budget at the moment
I’m looking at the moment at the Gorilla fitness interlocking flooring
https://treadmillfactory.ca/products/12-pack-gorilla-flooring-8mm-24-x-24-interlocking-rubber-tile
Does anyone here have this same product? How does it stand up to the rain and snow and ice that inevitably come in the garage?
Only half of the garage will have flooring so my car won’t be driving on it.

Ask a Local! Things to do
Hi yall! I’m visiting London to meet up with a friend tomorrow as that is the halfway point between our cities. We’re going to spend the day catching up and hanging out. Any recommendations for what to do on a cold (possibly rainy) Sunday winter day?

discussion / opinion Clothing Donation Suggestions
I am going to be purging my closet soon and I am looking for suggestions where to donate the clothes. I don't want to go to Value Village or Goodwill since I've heard the stories of their markup practices. I'm also not comfortable with those bins since I have seen a few that have been broken into. Any suggestions?
Btw...the clothes are men's 2XL shirts and size 40 pants and jeans.

Things to Do Looking for some ideas for NYE in and around London.
Hi everyone
We are in our early 30s and are looking for some fun NYE events either in London or willing to drive upto an hour, we don’t drink much but can enjoy a glass of wine or two, something involving music, food (maybe karaoke) etc.. checked eventbrite but nothing jumped out… We don’t enjoy crowded places but would depend on the event type. What’s everyone doing for NYE?

🥄food /restaurants /gastronomy Where to buy/order fresh tourtière?
I recently moved to London, and I'm having a hell of a time sourcing a tourtière other than mass-produced frozen from a grocery store, or Black Friar's tourtière with pear and elderflower and stuff that sounds impressive but is too elevated for my simple tastes.
Where can I pick up or pre-order a fresh tourtière du Lac-Saint-Jean or Montreal? (Manitoba and Acadia are okay too as long as the meats are pork and beef).
I didn't have time to peruse Covent Gardens before Christmas, and now I'm searching far and wide to be able to honour the NYE tradition! Please tell me I don't have to go all the way to St. Jacob's?!
(Yes, I know how to make it and have fantastic recipes, but that is not a possibility this year)
Thanks in advance!

Ask a Local! Recommendations for woman/LGBT personal trainer or gym
I'm looking for a gym and personal trainer that offers any kind of fitness classes or personal training for women only and is a queer space. Anything like that in London? Thanks!

discussion / opinion Be kind to cashiers and customer service representatives
Please be kind all year round. It’s a difficult job and the pay isn’t great. I make a point of bringing chocolates or gift cards the cashiers that I see on a weekly basis. For everyone who wears a name tag and works behind a counter thank you for your service and help. Our fridges and pantries would be empty without you.

Things to Do Looking for activities/groups for my free time to socialize more
I'm finding myself with a lot of free time and would love to get involved in something. I've checked out the activities offered by the City and I found a few things that interest me, but nothing that really gets me excited. I've also looked into CMHA programs but they seem to be more educational and I'm looking for something more social. I love learning and would love to try a new hobby, sport, etc or learn something new. I'd prefer to keep it low cost, something comparable to what the City charges for their programming. I'm in my mid-twenties, enjoy crafting, reading, music, and food and drink. I'm also not super in shape but do love participating in fun and interesting sports. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

🥄food /restaurants /gastronomy Nice brunch/lunch spot for Saturday?
I’m coming to London tomorrow with my wife and two adult children, to visit my mother and take her out for lunch.
I’m hoping someone can recommend a nice spot we can go.
Looking for…
- nice and comfortable (not a diner)
- traditional lunch or brunch menu
- doesn’t need to be cheap but also not +$100 /person
My mother lives in the north east part of the city, so not having to drive too far south or west would be great, but would for the right place.
Thanks!
Update: Thanks a lot for everyone’s recommendations. A couple I’ve been to, but many I’ve never tried and will in the future.
Was going to do Ironwood, but they’re not open for lunch/brunch on Saturdays, so we’ll try Malibu tomorrow and save Ironwood for another time.
Regardless, I’m saving this thread for the future! I appreciate everyone’s input.

Anyone seen any good deals on leftover gift baskets for Boxing Day? Preferably in the north end. Need a last minute gift for this weekend. Looking for something coffee related.
