Yes, this is classical LR bullshit. However you cannot filter by file type, you can at least sort by file type. I do this for years. Just select first raw, scroll rougly to the middle of the list, find the last raw, shift click to select all raws, import. Thanks, Adobe...

Don’t import through Lightroom initially. Copy them from the SD card to a folder on the iPad, there you can select RAW only. Then import to Lightroom.
Yes, 2 steps, but then you’ll get what you want.

In-camera, sort JPEG on Card 1 and RAW on Card 2 in the shooting settings
Then only plug in Card 2 into your laptop
This is how I do it so I can do JPEG to phone or send JPEG via FTP for work
And when I import photos it’s just the raw

This only works if the camera has dual SD slots, and most don't.

Sony a6 series doesn’t come with two cards anyways, even the newest model is still 1 slot.

I only use LRC so I can’t help, but if there really isn’t a toggle in the import screen to only import raws, then I would just import as normal and immediately delete all the JPGs. No?

Are you using LR Classic? It’s easy to filter on file type there.

LRC also doesn't have filter by file type during import. Only sort by file type.

Separate the files to two different folders and then import the folder that only has RAWs
