HDR on google Pixel 8 pro Discussion
It’s well-known that Ultra HDR support on the Pixel 8 Pro has faced some challenges, and for about a year, it wasn’t fully available for this model. However, with the release of Lightroom Mobile version 10.1, Ultra HDR editing is now officially supported on the Pixel 8 Pro.
The images look stunning in HDR while working within the app. But here’s the issue: when I save the edited image (as a JPG) and view it in the native Google Photos app on my Pixel 8 Pro, it no longer displays in HDR. Instead, it looks like an SDR version of the image, losing the vibrant details and dynamic range I see in Lightroom.
To check if this was specific to my device, I tried the same on my brother’s Pixel 7 Pro, and it’s facing the exact same issue.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to ensure that the saved images retain their HDR quality when viewed in Google Photos, or is this a limitation with the format/settings? Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Tried Ultra HDR when it first came out (STUNNING images!) But experienced same issue. So stopped using it. Seems to be useless if it cannot be viewed across all platforms
