I nearly fell off my chair when I read this comment, absolutely incredible mental gymnastics at play here

Trump needs to do something

This is the doublethink we normally see in authoritarian regimes centered on an autocrat.

“The autocrat is perfect and fighting for his supporters. Any policy that goes contrary to this must therefore be the decision of someone in his administration. We just need to make the autocrat aware of this.”

They also don’t see the obvious contradiction of “my strongman is a strong leader and perfect” and “the autocrat must be unaware of this happening”.

We see this with MAGA, see it with Putin and his peasants, and with Hitler.

20

u/Bartlaus 17h ago

The good Tsar and the evil Boyars... the good Caliph with the corrupt Vizier... the myth repeats itself.

7

u/snarky_spice 14h ago

Yep- when Hitler started making military mistakes, the German people blamed it on his generals and said things like if Hitler could just make all the decisions himself this stuff wouldn’t happen. Literal cult.

3

u/shapeofthings 15h ago

They think they know him, that he is their friend, that the "billionaire" will do out of his way to protect poor conservatives and everyday Americans, the very people he has publicly derided and extorted for most of his life.

12

u/waitingtoconnect 18h ago

Doublethink at play

3

u/Boring-King-494 11h ago

Wait till Trump gives Leon the thump up. Then you will see Olympic level mental gymnastics to justify his decision.

1

u/Publius82 13h ago

That entire sub is a psyop.

1

u/grathad 36m ago

It's quite beautiful I am not going to lie

The left getting power from the class divide gap growing

They are so close, yet so far away. I think conservative's brain is the one reason why I can't just feel proud to be human.

226

u/inshamblesx 22h ago

who think they can talk down to and bamboozle the average american

if this election is anything to go by, then they’ve bamboozled around 78 million of them

56

u/Romano16 17h ago

The average American has been bamboozled by Trump not once, but twice.

Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice can’t put the blame on you.

I am waiting for what happens on the third time.

35

u/jahermitt 17h ago

3 times even. He got close to the same amount of votes each time. Dems now know what numbers they have to reach because Republicans seem to have a hard cap.

2

u/Ifawumi 14h ago

And this last election was the maximum because pretty much everyone in office through this end of COVID economy was ousted. They won't get any better numbers for the Republicans, ever

5

u/JinxyCat007 14h ago

Hey! Just you wait until they hear about Trump hiring 'Illegals' at his golf course in NJ. That's sure to bring them to their senses! ...okay, maybe not. Maybe he's hiring the good ones... Maybe ... holy fuck.

2

u/balltongueee 15h ago

Was writing this exact comment... and then saw you already made it.

204

u/Justify-My-Love 22h ago

Dude in the second comment talking about lowering the gap of wealth inequality…

Proceeds to vote for a billionaire and his billionaire cabinet

Republicans have to be the lowest common denominator on the entire planet

MAGA - Morons And Gullible Assholes

12

u/ASweetTweetRose 19h ago

FINALLY a MAGA hat I would buy!!

65

u/FantasticEmu 22h ago edited 13h ago

Second guy has some good points but seems to have confused which party actually supports what he’s asking for

40

u/Yureinobbie 19h ago

He knows which party stands for what. That's why he just wants it lowered enough for the left not to gain power. It's like asking to maybe cut down on blood sacrifices for the duration of the media visit. You know it's bad, but you don't want to stop, you just don't want to look bad.

14

u/GrowFreeFood 17h ago

It's all about virtue signaling but never about virtue.

9

u/pet_rock_2000 16h ago

Yes, literally says the reason to close the pay gap is to get rid of the "class war ethos the left benefits from."

Not, you know... Because it's the right thing to do?

4

u/Michael1795 16h ago

They are just a few 80 hour work weeks away from being on the other side of the gap. They want to be the billionaires.

30

u/iskosalminen 18h ago

Good points?!? He starts by stating "the tariffs are supposed to work and expand American jobs...", which is some of the stupidest sh!t anyone could say, and then continues to claim the US somehow isn't based on importing cheap external labor seemingly completely unaware of slavery and whole industries currently ran by cheap immigrant workers.

And this is just two sentences into their comment. Then he starts talking about income inequality and rebuilding middle class. On a conservative subreddit. Talk about an idiot.

12

u/Nearby_Star9532 17h ago

Yes but have you HEARD Kamala laugh?

3

u/agnes_unicorn_pop 14h ago

the left should really start trolling when the Right is clobbered after papa Trump is in office screwing everything up. “I didn’t vote for this. So much inflation everything is unaffordable! Why did Ukraine fall? Why is my family getting deported?” Well, thats bad, but have you HEARD how Kamala’s laughs?

2

u/Traditional_Cat_60 6h ago

“the left should really start trolling”

The left should have been doing this about the economy since the Reagan era.

Unfortunately the party establishment of the left acts like they are ashamed of their own policies while being total fucking pussies all the time. At least Kamala’s team tried to embrace patriotism during the DNC.

Maybe next time they’ll hammer the Republicans for constantly raising the deficit, tanking the economy, destroying the environment (How’s the GOP been for your environmental health, West Virginia?), and exporting American jobs.

2

u/ijuinkun 15h ago

“Whole industries currently run ON cheap immigrant workers”. Saying that industry is run “by” the cheap workers sounds like the cheap workers are the ones in command.

11

u/ASweetTweetRose 19h ago

That’s what I found hilarious. He voted for the wrong candidate if he was looking to reduce the gap 🤣🤣

2

u/slntkilla 15h ago

They are so close to getting it

2

u/yIdontunderstand 13h ago

"please reduce your wealth and give some to us!"

Sure buddy, sure.. I'm SURE that's what that are planning to do.

Any day now....

-5

u/Felicia_Svilling 19h ago edited 17h ago

Republicans have to be the lowest common denominator on the entire planet

That is not what a "common denominator" means.

5

u/Orranos 18h ago

Shhh. He’s proving his point.

37

u/ImaginationThen1 19h ago

As someone in another post said, it was make America great again, not make Americans great again.

These billionaires absolutely consider themselves and their companies the backbone of the “real” America. Greatness = wealth, so whatever makes them richer is by default making America great. The people have absolutely nothing to do with it.

12

u/Nearby_Star9532 17h ago

This is such a great point. So many people have been totally convinced that a couple of billionaires care to make life better for them by doing what? Deregulation of polluting business practices? Gutting social services? Taking away their freedom to protest? Raising their taxes but giving billionaires tax breaks? It’s total nonsense.

39

u/Jensen0451 18h ago

"The gap between workers and CEOs has to narrow somewhat to get rid of the class war ethos that the left gains power from".

That's one Hell of a way to make us sound nefarious for being right.

10

u/Professor_Old_Guy 17h ago

That’s just the first backflip of the mental gymnastics they will do. Many more to come!! Pass the popcorn, please.

5

u/Jensen0451 17h ago

No doubt. I gotta give credit where it's due with these people. For good or for overwhelmingly bad, they provide excellent ways to get a real good look at people's rationalization capabilities.

9

u/eNonsense 16h ago

Yea! We've gotta get back on track with this war against the marginalized and brown. We can't let there be common ground with All Americans! Some of them are urban, poor and yucky!

2

u/notaprime 14h ago

Every year conservatives get closer and closer to getting the point while still missing it anyway. It’s truly incredible.

33

u/petdoc1991 22h ago

Will Trump bend to the money that helped him get re elected or listen to maga?

I wonder which one it will be. /s

14

u/lurkishdelight 20h ago

OMG Ok-Introduction you are totes adorbs did you think voting for billionaires was going to help the average American? Too cute!

13

u/Meekois 18h ago

The second comment is hilarious. "Trump will stop the other billionaires, and wealth gap has to be narrowed to own the libs"

Fuckin amazing.

20

u/JoGoBurn 20h ago

Leopards are beginning to starve as MAGA's have started eating themselves.

16

u/spelunker66 20h ago

I also don't quite understand why they think immigrants must automatically "hate them and their culture". All the immigrants to the US I have ever met were far more pro-USA than most white natives. Also - I used to work for an American multinational, they sent me a few times to their main datacentre in Virginia - most of my colleagues there were Indian, either on a work visa or a green card, or naturalised, and they were more small-government, anti-tax conservatives that the majority of white Americans I've met there. And they were certainly much more pro-US and pro-Trump (it was 2018-2019) that almost all the white Virginians and West Virginians I have encountered.

These people's problem is NOT with immigrants' hate for US culture or institutions, it is simply with their skin colour.

20

u/HeadSwimming 19h ago

Easiest answer is xenophobia. The media they ingest has succeeded in building their fears that anyone from a country that’s not predominantly white is scary. Only, it’s biting the movement in the ass because billionaires know foreign labor can be harnessed more cheaply and maga has been propped up on nationalism so now everyone’s doing the Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man meme.

5

u/Jay-Five 17h ago

they were more small-government, anti-tax conservatives that the majority of white Americans I've met there. And they were certainly much more pro-US and

Reason enough to dislike them. More MAGA than MAGA.

18

u/bunchofrightsiders 19h ago

As an Englishman observing from across the pond I can honestly say there is not enough popcorn in the world for watching this.

3

u/stevielfc76 16h ago

If there wasn’t so many ramifications for us in the Uk and the rest of the world this’d be hilarious!

2

u/guttanzer 16h ago

Understood, and I concur in a horror-show, “Don’t go down in the basement!!!” way.

But do I have to say the word?

Brexit.

There, I said it.

From this side of the pond I’m sorry you guys have that experience. And I’m sorry we’re topping you 100x or more.

1

u/Glove_Witty 15h ago

That’s right. There has been a shortage since Brexit.

10

u/Ms_Fu 19h ago

"Bamboozle the average American"? Zero self-awareness.

16

u/Think-Werewolf-4521 21h ago

They are getting exactly what they voted for.

7

u/flocknrollstar 19h ago

It's so cute they still think Trump will stand up for them

6

u/Wynnstan 18h ago

The Department of Goverment Efficiency finds it's more efficient to not hire Americans. Who could have foreseen that!

6

u/sarcago 17h ago

They deleted this whole post, shocking 🙄

1

u/nyepo 15h ago

Ah, free speech™

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Ask2980 20h ago

There is something delicious about the inner fighting between the billionaires and the racists and rednecks.

3

u/mcaffrey81 19h ago

Yet they racists and rednecks still wont join forces/find common ground with the democrats t

5

u/GadreelsSword 19h ago

Musk says Americans need “hardship”. He says that because good American engineers aren’t willing to work for just above minimum wage like foreign labor. Also you can’t threaten them with deportation when they don’t do exactly what you say.

4

u/ApoplecticAndroid 19h ago

We need to deport all the immigrants so we can make room for immigrants.

5

u/yamirzmmdx 19h ago

Trump declared bankruptcy 6 times and still gets to be a billionaire.

FML.

5

u/Dyslexicpig 18h ago

So suddenly they are concerned with a billionaire essentially buying the presidency? What exactly did they think Musk was doing by donating all that money?

Musk only cares about making himself richer. As does Bezos, Trump and the rest of the oligarchs.

4

u/BigLumpyBeetle 18h ago

Watch them figure out leftism live

4

u/tenor1trpt 18h ago

Those same commenters are just fools of the highest order. Jobs will continue to be shipped overseas. No tech or manufacturing jobs will come to the US. These idiots will blast it while the rich get richer. And then those commenters will vote again for a republican.

And the republicans know this. They’re playing these idiots because they know this is how these idiots will live.

5

u/SomeRandomSomeWhere 18h ago

Trump doesn't have to do anything. He can't stand for presidential election again. And he has also stated that no-one has to vote again.

Either way, he does not have to care what anyone thinks (except for maybe some rich people / countries who can push some business to him and his family, now or in the future).

4

u/Purple_Mall2645 18h ago

Sure would be a shame if a ton of liberals flooded Truth Social, ruined the vibe, and tanked its value

4

u/WanderingBraincell 17h ago

has to get rid of the class war ethos that the left gains power from.

how are they this close but so far off... they're so god damn stupid and brainwashed that they've nearly gained entitlement, but tHe LeFt is so Othered into whatever remains of the grey goop that sloshes around in their skulls that they just cannot see it. its a bordline psychotic break from reality

3

u/Fantastic_Yam_3971 17h ago

Remember a month ago when MAGA was all over social media claiming we didn’t need to worry about mass deportations, instead we could use inmates and those on welfare to work the low wage “unskilled” labor jobs? Now they are finding out that it’s them who their President envisions as suited to work those jobs because they aren’t intelligent nor talented enough to do anything else 😂😂😂😂😂😂

3

u/WitchFlame 20h ago

They're eating their own tails in such a convoluted fashion that my brain honestly quit reading partway through and drifted to the phone clock. Which, as somebody who uses the 24hr clock, utterly bamboozled me and I became concerned for your health that you were reading this nonsense at one in the morning. Then I realised it was missing a zero at the front, remembered non-24hr clocks exist, admired the flow of 1:11 which is both perfect timing and a non-emergency emergency helpline here in the UK (think "I might be dying but I don't want to be dramatic about it" helpline) and then saw your battery charge percentage.

What I'm trying to say is that, intentionally or not, you have made art here.

3

u/John-the-cool-guy 18h ago

Famous words, "Trump needs to do something about this". He is. He's encouraging it and helping make it happen.

Edit: punctuation and autocorrect

Conservatives: We need to keep those coastal elites out of government!

Also Conservatives: Let's elect this billionaire coastal elite who's going to appoint a bunch of billionaire coastal elites to government positions.

1

u/ijuinkun 15h ago

Clearly, proximity to the ocean causes leftist thinking! This is why we need to destroy the oceans!

3

u/jish5 17h ago

Why are people shocked by this? Billionaires have made their wealth by screwing everyone around them over and implementing labor that's as cheap as possible.

3

u/pnellesen 17h ago

They were told there would be no fact checking

2

u/waitingtoconnect 18h ago

Trump also lives to hire foreign workers… and his mags hats aren’t even made in America…

2

u/RabidTurtl 18h ago

Guess these morons are learning this was always the plan. Yet somehow they think the person benefiting from this plan is going to save them.

2

u/GarbageCleric 18h ago

Trump, Musk, and Vivek were definitely the sort of people to support if you're worried about wealth inequality. 🙄

2

u/captain_pudding 18h ago

The "It should be about meritocracy and not a quota" people sure do change their tune when the best candidate for the job isn't white, huh?

1

u/ijuinkun 15h ago

B-but whiteness is a core requirement!

2

u/billythesquid- 17h ago

I mean, IS Trump a billionaire, or does he just have enough foreign interests paying for his greedy ass?

2

u/AntiBurgher 17h ago

Hey everybody! Conservatives want to rebuild the middle class! You know, voting for the same assholes that destroyed the middle class yet they’re the fucking heroes.

I seriously welcome anyone of these fucks to get off the keyboard so my foot can have an IRL meeting with their balls.

1

u/ijuinkun 15h ago

That presupposes that they possess balls.

2

u/SeaLab_2024 16h ago

The class war ethos that the left gains power from.

I just, …yeah just re-enforce my “fuck em I’m done trying” reaction to all this, thanks.

2

u/abnormalbrain 16h ago

I like how the whole 'rebuild the middle class' idea isn't about rebuilding the middle class, but about reducing something that 'the left gains power from'. Fuckwits have lost the plot.

2

u/MrKomiya 16h ago

“Somehow they [stumbled onto inequality]”

2

u/ShibeCEO 16h ago

America first is not about people in the US, it's about the economy, stupid!

2

u/maryshellysnightmare 16h ago

I am so ashamed to share a country with these dipshits.

2

u/Safe-Engineering-417 16h ago

What a bunch of losers and suckers (Trump’s words not mine)

2

u/Nearbyatom 14h ago

These people will get ripped off, screwed over, and hurt but will still vote GOP.

2

u/Lonely-Club-1485 13h ago

They are Biden/Harris voters on issues and goals, but never figured it out.

1

u/MinuteCollar5562 17h ago

Think they can bamboozle? Bud, they already did. And dear leader is in on the joke.

1

u/Romano16 17h ago

The funniest part about this is that, Trump has never been an American First policy. It’s just so blatant now because the idiots put them in power and there’s no take backs!

1

u/DoctorGuvnor 17h ago

Didn’t you people even listen to his speeches? You believed the crap about eating dogs but didn’t believe anything else you heard.

1

u/869woodguy 17h ago edited 9h ago

They think Americans are stupid because they voted for Trump.

1

u/ijuinkun 14h ago

And Americans who voted for Trump to boost the middle class aren’t stupid?

1

u/869woodguy 9h ago

I have no idea what you just said.

1

u/ijuinkun 8h ago

“Americans are stupid because they voted for Trump” can be interpreted two ways: MAGA, who voted for Trump, believes that Americans other than themselves are stupid, or “they” think that Americans are stupid because (the stupid people) voted for Trump.

1

u/Debt_Otherwise 17h ago

People should ask themselves….

Who are the biggest beneficiaries of the outcomes from the “team”? Billionaires of course…

1

u/8StoneyinCO 16h ago

They’re almost starting to figure it all out

1

u/prodigalpariah 16h ago

God, they're so close to getting it. "Elon's a billionaire! Why would he actually care about us?" "Idk, but Trump, also a billionaire, will set him straight!"

1

u/Rustmonger 16h ago

It is amazing to me how so many of these ass hats are just now starting to figure this out. Blinded and defended by thinking they were special.

1

u/Brief-Floor-7228 15h ago

People who voted for the government to be run like a business are surprised when the "CEO" wants to get the best players for the lowest price.

1

u/QuestionableComma 15h ago

Taking these reasons at face value, good job voting along your interests.

1

u/cooperia 15h ago

Is this post even still up on r/conservative? I searched the title and couldn't find it.

1

u/nyepo 15h ago

Why can't I find this post in the Conservative subreddit? Did they delete it?

1

u/Harley2280 14h ago

Well he's not. Don't get me wrong he isn't some blue collar folk hero or successful businessman. We've been given several peaks into his income and much like that cost of his buildings in NY, his wealth has been greatly exaggerated.

1

u/MariachiBoyBand 14h ago

It’s been a wild ride seeing all those accusations and Alex Jones conspiracies about one world order and globalization, being now part of the Trump admin’s playbook. Annexation of land, bring in mass migration lol. They still are going to find ways to defend all of this, I expect Alex to just pivot to something else…

1

u/Opposite-Job-8405 14h ago

You hard it here first, folks. Only reason to reduce income inequality is to get rid of the class war ethos fueling the left’s power.

1

u/Throwawaybaby09876 14h ago

Who are the evil globalists now?

Vivek and Leon the foreign born billionaires?

1

u/Mucking_Fountain 14h ago

The American Right have pushed anti-intellectualism for so long they have created their own quandary. “Buy American” they say but it’s not just a cheap labour issue and is more a skilled labour one. As someone who works in IT, the skilled labour mainly comes from India and no tarrifs or racist rhetoric will do anything to change that until Conservatives start telling their supporters in isn’t anti-American to be intelligent once again.

1

u/MachineShedFred 14h ago

They trusted an immigrant globalist to stop immigrants and globalists. They trusted a guy who operates a company where a full 50% of the cars they produce in a year are built in Shanghai to be "tough on China" and "put America first" while kissing CCP ass to build a huge battery factory across the street from their existing car factory.

I don't think that's going to end the way they would like.

1

u/Traditional_Cat_60 7h ago

“The gap between the workers and the CEOs has to narrow somewhat to get rid of the class war ethos that the left benefits from”

Yes, that’s why we should narrow the gap between CEOs and workers. Not because it is morally, ethically, and economically wrong. It’s because of the left’s ability to use it as a talking point.

The right will never understand the left because they think these are ‘talking points’ instead of a real life issues that have massive, negative effects on millions of people.

0

u/Foreign_Muffin_3566 17h ago

This will blow over and maga will accept Elons position unless Trump himself comes out against him

0

u/Teamerchant 14h ago

As a leftist I feel I have more in common with a racist maga non politician than I do with the democrats neoliberal politicians. It’s easy for us to forget they are typically just people that were turned off of democrats for their constant failures (ratchet effect) so they latched onto a false prophet. System working as designed.

I’ll gladly join forces to punch up with any fellow working class brothers and sisters and sisters
