Republicans utilize the liberal programs they complain about as “free handouts” more than anyone 🙄

It's cool when they do it though..... They are the only actual "Americans" and all that. I mean, our tired, our poor, and our huddled masses all voted to give the richest man the biggest handout.

I come from a rust-belt working-class town. Many are MAGA. It's not that they think it's cool, it's that they think THEY deserve it but others do not. THEY work hard. THEY paid into these systems. THEIR friends and family are struggling. But they hear these stories about immigrants taking their jobs, getting free housing and healthcare, and us sending billions overseas. Propaganda works.

I work for a small company and I actually have a lot of respect for my boss, because he runs his company with an absolute focus on the employees. I've had a lot of hardships in the last few years and never once did I feel my job was insecure. I was given carte blanche in some cases on when I return to work and I was paid my salary the entire time.

One of this man's weak points is MAGA. I have to remember that as the owner of the company, he's part of the capital class, and as a resident of NC, it's unlikely he's heard a convincing argument for anything but Red. I may not ever be an ally of his.

But what baffles me even more than his being a fan of Trump... is he could have taken a million dollar forgivable PPP loan, and just... didn't. Said God told him he shouldn't take handouts, basically.

I really wish, of all times, that he hadn't been so principled that day. We didn't lay anyone off during Covid or reduce a single wage, but I would have 100% supported our company pocketing an extra million dollars of cushion.

Yup. My mother’s circle of friends voted for trump because Biden was a “socialist.” Meanwhile my mother was on SSDI, then Medicare and Medicaid. She and her friends also benefited from section 8 housing vouchers and SNAP benefits.

I feel this. My in-laws are diversity visa winners and use SSDI, Medicare, and any other program they can get into just to get as much money as possible. And then they complain about immigrants taking advantage of the system…edit: guess who they proudly support and voted for?

I sure wish we could cut all these ungrateful fucks off without hurting those who actually believe in a functioning society.

It’s SO true. My mom (who is left) is low income and got some medical bills paid for by an amazing organization in her city- she told my aunt (who is MAGA) and she got mad that they paid it- but her and her husband ARE ON OBAMACARE 🙄🙄🙄

do you blame them? if something is funded with debt taken out on your behalf are you not entitled to use it?

Not if you're the one calling it a government handout.

And are actively trying to take this benefit away from others who rely on it.
