These people voted for someone that wants to abolish the very thing that they are asking for. (Trump wants to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, but 82% of the applications for Obamacare are from states that voted for Trump.)

Do you have any sort of link for this chart?

Edit: didn’t find the chart but found the numbers. Thanks anyway. The chart would be better with percentages per population of each state.

"These people". How do you know the same people who voted for Trump rely on Obamacare? For all we know, these could be mostly people of color who rely on Obamacare who voted for Harris.

That's what is wrong with these "demographic that voted for Trump" posts. It doesn't belong here.

Finally, a reasonable explanation for why something might not be LAMF.

Especially given that red states have some of the most aggressive voter suppression and the most suspicious election results after the GQP were publicly stating for 8 years straight that they intended to rig the 2024 election.

It is actually a fair point that most of the "red states" could actually be overwhelmingly blue and simply have their elections rigged to appear otherwise using a variety of tactics meaning that the overwhelming majority of people didn't actually want Trump who are now applying for ACA coverage.

I can't fault the mods for accepting this as a LAMF post, because in a vacuum it does look like LAMF, but you bring up an excellent point for how it might not actually be.

What makes you think white folks didn’t vote for Trump and need ACA?

You clearly missed the point. The point is that OP attacking both people who need ACA and voted for Harris and people who need the ACA and voted for Trump by attacking all ACA users in red states.

Not LAMF.

Yep. It'll be LAMF soon enough, but we'll need:

  • ACA revoked
  • someone who needed it complaining about it
  • and saying they voted for Trump, but they wanted him to stop giving money to other people, not them

Exactly

The picture/statement is still misleading. There are more red states than blue states per 2024 election (31 vs 19). Also, pretty much all insurance is considered under Obamacare. So, it's more of "duh" or "obviously" category.

You don't understand how percentages work do you? The number of states means fuck all. This is a breakdown of the total number of applications and the percentages from each state. As per the graphic 85% of the TOTAL applications came from red states. In fact he didn't need to include the states in the graphic at all, just red/blue percentages of 100. I'm guessing you are from one of those red states

31 - 19 is still very, very far from an 82% - 18% distribution.

It's ok. They have a concept of a plan for not being LAMF

Trump wants to get rid of the affordable care act

Which parts, since the ACA is one of the biggest boons to private insurance since Reagan, and historically the parts of the ACA that Trump has removed have all been the parts that even Reagan rejected as too right wing, such as the individual mandate.

If you have ever actually listened to him, the whole thing.

He also has said he is pro gun and then started banning guns.

If you believe a single word Trump says, you're an idiot. You can get him to say anything just by telling him the people who think the opposite are smarter than him.

No it doesn't. Mods need to moderate instead of this mob rule from folks that don't get nuance and context.
