Wingman Plier Issues

Post image

Hey everyone! Super excited to have gotten my first leatherman for Christmas. I went with the wingman because I really wanted spring assisted pliers. Using them for a few weeks now, I notice that if I use excess pressure on the pliers they that tend to stick. Anyone else having this problem and any way to combat it? I’m sure it’s nothing a little oil can’t fix. If so, any oil brand recommendations? Thanks guys!

Nothing to worry about. Pliers don’t need excess pressure unless they are gripping something, in which that doesn’t happen

Fluid Film. That’s what I use on all my tools. It’s not the best penetrating fluid, which some people use it for, and it does work somewhat, but it’s an excellent lubricant and it forms an invisible film on your tools that keeps them from corroding. Probably do it every other month if you use your tool heavily, otherwise use the fluid film every 6-12 months or so.

Lube doesn't fix that. There is debris in the pivot. You need to wear it in. Use some liquid metal polish and drip it into the plier pivot on the side where the pivot moves and work it until the path doesn't have any sticky spots. Then wash it out with soap and water and, if it moves smoothly, then lubricate. Usually unless you are really putting it to use around 30 days.
