Is the sky visible like that down there? Or only with the camera because I've never gotten to see the sky like that before since Europe has so much light pollution

Just finished holiday in New Zealand. Brings me back. Some of the darkest skies in the southern hemisphere there — specifically the South Island.
Edit: just saw your comment, OP. Ha ha ha. Is this the Mt. Cook Range?

This image was taken in early winter, from new zealand's south island. Here the galactic center rises high overhead, allowing the full band of the Milky Way core to be captured.
