It’s not over yet! 🌶️🍁🍂
3rd harvest coming in, last one about 2 weeks ago was a little under 2lbs (98 peppers). This round is even more loaded. Hopefully there is time for them to turn orange before first frost usually around mid November (zone 8, North Texas).

I am envious. I live in nothern Germany. I can only put my plants outside in mid-May and have to bring them back inside by mid-September. The rest of the time, it's too cold outside for the chilies.

Beautiful! I have a prize pony orange habanero plant too! Mine looks a little more "rugged" but it's my favorite. My wife named it Harriet. Harriet will be living indoors with us this winter.

Wow! This is amazing. Im in north Texas trying to get my plants that big. I assume you are over wintering.

Yes - going to try for the first time this year. I actually planted this from seed and got it outside mid May. Habaneros love our climate if you can figure out the watering . They can be quite thirsty and nitrogen pigs

Very good info. I’ll over winter this year to try and get something that size next year. Great work again, very impressive.

Good layer of mulch, excellent trim job in the understory, and smart supporting that encourages auxin movement for strong branches.
10/10. Beautiful job.

Thank you very much :) this is my prized plant, I’ve got a few others that turned out nicely but this is by far my best

My orange hab went crazy this year too. I am going to pot him and see if it will make it over the winter. I hate to kill a producer.

Zone 6a here and I can't seem to get the dormant stage down so this is absolutely amazing to see!

Did you graft it with something? Usually, peppers don't grow so big and/or don't produce all year round
1
u/Scrappyz_zg Sep 28 '24
Nope did not graft. It’s still 85F during the day - I suspect this will be the last month as temps dip off by Halloween usually

Thank you very much! Can I ask you what kind of soil mix and fertilisers you use? And how often?
2
u/Scrappyz_zg Sep 28 '24
Sure thing - this is miracle gro that I amended with bone meal, oyster shells, Epsom salt, earthworm casing, and coco coir + perlite for more drainage. Mix all of that up and when I transplanted I put mycorhizzal fungi in the transplant hole. Originally it started in a 5 gallon, then went to 10, then this half whisky barrel (30 gallons?). I up-potted when the soil would dry out too frequently from how much water the plant took in, so I could water less. Plus I wanted to see how large I could grow it. I used fish fertilizer 5-1-1 twice a month and during the blooms gave it neptunes harvest rose fertilizer (2-8-1). Cal mag fox farms twice a month

What type of miracle gro? The organic raised bed & garden soil?
1
u/Scrappyz_zg Sep 28 '24
Yellow bag, just standard potting soil. I use fox farms happy frog potting soil too but miracle gro was just laying in my pile. I’d recommend happy frog over miracle gro

Wow,it's beautiful. I'll have to buy some of those seeds. I'm not even sure that they're sold in my country.
If you're selling any seeds, let me know.
