It looks great. Also, I need to know the precise moment you came up with the idea, and what led to it.

Some friends were almost complaining about all the new hip craft beer bars in Oslo, that was a start. Haha

As someone that makes games as a living, and beer in my spare time, this checks all the boxes. #willBuy

Thanks for your support! What game(s) are you making?

u/warpcat Oct 02 '20
Current title is unannounced, but I've been making games since 95: parasite Eve, final fantasy IX, a whole bunch of Lord of the rings games, the godfather, dead space, and a whole bunch of call if duty, plus other smaller/less know stuff ;)
But more importantly, I've been brewing beer since 2018, lol

Sorry for the necrobump, but given what I’m about to write, it’s all the more appropriate – you worked on Dead Space?! That game is awesome. I am not generally a horror fan but my friend made me play it and it’s so good.

I'm glad your liked it! Yes, all of DS1, and about 1/3 of DS2, before I left to go to Sledgehammer to work on COD. good memories of the DS development :)

Awesome! Reminds me of Leisure Suit Larry. He was on a slighty different quest but... I remember having to answer questions to prove you are 18 when I was 12. Learned a lot about USA at that age, since most of the questions were related to presidents, etc.

u/duderik Oct 01 '20
Hahaha! I remember that as well. My problem was also that I didn't know any English :D (in Soviet Armenia) :D
3
u/rogue1987 Oct 01 '20
Same. Norwegian here!
2
u/duderik Oct 01 '20
What a small world. I'm Norwegian now as well :D
Lived there since 1999! haha
2
u/rogue1987 Oct 01 '20
Seriously? Where? I'm in Kristiansand!
2
u/duderik Oct 01 '20
Kampen, Oslo, but now I have been stuck in Costa Rica since february :D
2
u/rogue1987 Oct 01 '20
There are worse places to be stuck, right?
2
u/duderik Oct 02 '20
But going back soon just need to send the press release things first. Og jeg aner ikke hvordan man gjør noe sånt. Haha

I feel personally attacked.
Best part is definitely the conversation between the hipsters outside the bar. I thought "yeah, that might be a fair point, I could see how mango character could get drowned out in a Brett IPA." I like that if you're going to poke fun at a subculture, it's clearly coming from a place of understanding that subculture. Also the game just looks good.
I don't have a steam account since I'm not much of a gamer anymore, but it might be worth making one to chuck a few hours into a goofy point-and-click. I'm sure I'd get some fun out of this.

That game is what I have neen feeling like for the past 5-6 months. Maybe I am getting old, but haze bombs are rough on me lol
Beautiful artwork, fun concept. I'll check it out!

I've quite a problem trying to find a classic, dry stout in stores or pubs for last two years. Imperial Stouts with shitloads of extra ingredients? Sure, feel free to choose. Pastry Stouts? Coffee Stouts? Vanilla Chocolate Stouts? Go on. Classic, drinkable 4,5% Stout? Absolutely no way, no one's gonna buy this crap, go brew it yourself. And so do I brew.
And the game looks fabulous, love it, will give it a try.

SCUMM

The interface style does remind me of SCUMM but I doubt this uses it. Most modern point and click games will use unity or similar engines

Any chance the interactive options will have hotkeys associated with them? Such as A for Use Item, S for Talk to, etc.

u/duderik Oct 01 '20
Already added! Also "X" for cancel commands, since some Mac users don't have right click :-|

u/GunsnBeerKindaGuy Oct 01 '20
When’s it getting released? Also do you browse r/beercirclejerk?

u/duderik Oct 01 '20
In about one month, after almost two years :D
Have never seen it - I don't know how reddit works, I'm new here :D

Please post here when this is released!
When I was laid up after surgery for a few weeks last year, I re-played some of the classic Lucasfilm games (Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Day of the Tentacle). It's my absolute favorite genre.

Those are great! I will try to remember. But if you follow us on twitter or instagram, you'll see my updates easier, since I update those more frequently.

Speaking for those who want nothing to do with Twitter or Instagram, please do try to remember :)

I'll likely be roasted on here, but in the last 2 summers, I've just gone back to drinking Busch Light.
I brewed for several years, I went through a snobby beer period of probably 10-12 years, and there was a time that I was happy frequently spending $15-20 on a 4 pack of beers.
I love the idea of this game. Although, if there was a criticism (it's incredibly small) it would be that I think that the hipster beer movement is waning over the last little bit of time. I think this would have been at the height of relevancy in probably 2016. Again, that's a very tiny thing to harp over, and I'm certainly looking forward to this.
7
u/duderik Oct 01 '20
Hmmm. Is it possible to pretend that the happenings are in 2016? They have used that trick in a few movies and video games :)
1
u/tin_manzano Oct 02 '20
Lots of people are only just now getting into hazy IPAs and adjunct stouts now though. I think for a number of people the game’s sentiment was probably more relevant 5 years ago, but I think overall it makes perfect sense today

u/stopthebrewshit Oct 01 '20
Still funny, though.
7
u/DannySupernova Oct 01 '20
This isn't gatekeeping in the slightest. It's a game about a middle-aged guy who just wants a goddamn pilsner in a world where everyone else wants a > 7% IPA or adjunct loaded craft beer.
Again, not gatekeeping. at. all.
1
u/stopthebrewshit Oct 01 '20
I should have put a "?" next to it to insinuate it was a joke. I still view it as slightly gatekeeping, but I don't care, the came looks cool.
2
u/DannySupernova Oct 01 '20 edited Oct 02 '20
Fair enough. Gatekeeping is such a loaded term on the internet and Reddit in general. Maybe '/s' for sarcasm would be a good choice over ?. Anyways. Hope you have a good day! Cheers!
2
u/stopthebrewshit Oct 01 '20
This will say a lot about my internet intelligence, but your comment taught me what /s means LOL. I agree, it's way overused, often inappropriately. But that subreddit is often quite funny.
5
u/laodaron Oct 01 '20
It's weird how often that's used improperly on Reddit.

Interested.
But now I just want a rogue-like brewery crawler.
