Question/Support HomePod getting dumber every day
Does anyone else have issues of Siri ignoring commands and doing nothing without giving any feedback?

Question/Support HomePod Siri seem like they declined recently?
I tell my home pods to turn lights on or off or other accessories or turn a device on and off.
What happened in the last few months where she just shits the bed?
“Hey siri, turn on the living room lights”
“….what rooms names all the rooms”
“Turn on the living room lights”.
“What room?”
“Living room”.
“What room?”
checks if I’m having a stroke
“Turn on the living room tv”.
“I found some web results”.
“Turn on the bedroom lights”
“I found some web results”.
Is this a recent decline with it or what’s the deal? It’s more so just a speaker now than asking her anything lol.

Question/Support Considering Two HomePod Gen 2s vs. a $600 Surround System – Advice?
galleryHey everyone, I’m looking for some guidance. I’m strongly considering buying two HomePod Gen 2s for my living room, mainly for TV and movies. I’m already running an Apple TV 4K (3rd gen), and the HomePods would likely sit between or on top of two tall cabinets. I’m all in on the Apple ecosystem, with Apple devices for everything from phones and watches to HomeKit gadgets.
Here’s where I’m debating: Would I get better sound quality from a $600 surround system instead? If I skip the HomePods, I’d probably add a HomePod mini just to keep things in the Apple family, but I’m really interested in maximizing my movie/TV audio experience.
So my questions are: 1. At what price point would I start to notice a significant jump in audio quality over the HomePods? 2. Since the house is wired for two rear-channel speakers, would a traditional surround system make better use of that setup?
Thanks in advance for any insights!

Question/Support Why won't Apple give us this feature?
Listen Apple, it's about 50 yrs since the OG Homepod launched. We've been asking for this feature since day 1. We want to be able to set different volume for Siri voice and Media. No no no, don't tell me to go to the Accessibility to turn on Auto Adjust Siri Volume, cuz it doesn't work like the way I want it to be! I ALWAYS want Siri to speak at 80%, I ALWAYS want my media (music, podcast, news, etc) to be played at 50%.
Oh and also, as a Day 1 OG Homepod and Vision Pro buyer, I PROMISE I will NEVER purchase any first Gen product from Apple ever again. I've learned to wait until the 3rd Gen.

Question/Support Would elevating a HomePod like this significantly impact the audio? 2x OG HomePods in stereo.
Basically the title. Would elevating HomePods with something like this negatively impact the audio in a significant way?

Question/Support How Apple Could Dominate the Home Audio Space
I wanted to create this thread so people can share their thoughts on what Apple should do to dominate the home audio space. That could be anything from a central home hub, Apple TV, Homepods, Apple Music, etc.
What does Apple need to do "realistically" to take on competitors in this space like Sonos?

Question/Support "Siri Stop" "It sounds like your symptoms are severe. Contact your healthcare provider for assistance."
We've had HomePods all throughout our house for more than a year, and we set timers on them daily. For a year, we've stopped every timer with either "Siri Stop" or "Siri stop the timer," and it's always just... stopped. Today, twice now, when I say "Siri Stop," it says something about having severe symptoms and encouraging me to call a doctor? What is going on here? Did something change? How would I turn this off?

Question/Support Anyone else notice a dramatic drop in Siri quality recently?
Some examples (all of these commands worked fine a few weeks ago):
- "Siri play radio station XYZ in the ABC room and the DEF room" - "I can't find XYZ in your apple music library".
- "Siri play radio station ABC" - "I found some web results, try again on your phone"
- "Siri play sounds of the ocean in the XYZ room" - "Now playing ocean" (everywhere)
- "Siri play ocean in the XYZ room" - "Now playing apple music 1"
edit: for the record I’m not talking about regular Siri uselessness. Specifically it seems to have got a LOT worse about 2 weeks ago.

Question/Support So disappointed with my homepod experience
We recently got freaked out about Alexa and removed all of our Echo devices from our home. We put a homepod in the kitchen, and the experience so far has been so disappointing. If one of our iphones are in earshot, it will respond instead. Don’t fully understand how to use the kitchen homepod vs talking to my phone, vs wife talking to her phone. Sometimes it will search for a wifi connection even though our wifi is rock solid and fast. We switched to apple music from spotify for this, but controlling that music has been such a pain. I get the feeling it’s all just setup wrong - and the target market for homepod might be a single iphone household but we have multiple people with iphones in the house… We’re not looking to use the kitchen homepod to send text messages to people. Mainly want it to play music, use as a cooking timer, tell me the weather, maybe answer the odd question here and there. I’m sure it’s been said before but the Siri experience can be so disappointing, and it’s tragic that apple AI enhancements won’t be coming to these homepods. I’m honestly tempted to get the Echo’s back up and running but I really want to try and make this work with our Apple ecosystem. We got iphones, ipads, macbooks, - why is the homepod experience so poor for us?
EDIT: A lot of good tips here, and I will continue to try. But it really is out of character for an Apple integration to be so unpolished the way homepod is. Having to physically turn your phone face down, in order to speak to your home assistant service is not really acceptable. In the world of automation and integration, you shouldn’t have to worry about states of device before interacting or even speaking softly or in the direction of one device so another device doesn’t hear you. I get what they were going for, an omnipresent assistant that is integrated across all your devices and makes your home feel connected and singular - but they somehow missed the mark.

Question/Support Is it worth paying £125 for a brand-new, unopened 2nd Gen White HomePod?
So, I usually try not to spend money and promise myself to cut back, but this was hard to resist as Currys was selling it for £125 after the staff discount.

Question/Support Siri won’t stop activating on its own! Music kept blasting U2, playing an playing and pausing movie, spoke with multiple Apple Support. No fix :?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’ll say my HomePod is not on the same network sometimes, but it’ll always play after 😭
OS 18.1
- Tried delaying touch assistance to 4 secs delay
- currently Siri is totally turned off
- disconnected all home hub devices
- restart and repair multiple times
- restarted my router and modem
Nothing seems to work!! Anyone faced similar issue? And any workaround?

Also I’m just being curious within the worthiness of a second hand. Any thoughts? Any feedbacks? Does anyone already bought one second hand? Thanks

Question/Support Default Audio Issue
galleryI have been plagued by these error issues since setting up my Homekit with homepod pairs for my Apple TV’s. I had T-Mobile 5G Home Internet and got these error messages, then my apartment community switched to Gigstreem Managed Wifi and still get them. After a litany of resets, restarts, confirming 5G band with ISP, and getting hung up on by Apple Support i’m at a loss. What’s baffling is I don’t have any audio issues using them as “Temporary” audio output.

Question/Support Starting to get real tired from AirPlay/Apple Music. Hell with the new iOS, update your own applications Apple…
In the photo, the music is playing in my room and I’m unable to stop it. (I’m sitting in the balcony about few meters away and the Router is in the room as well.)
This happens quite often since iOS 18. Idk what gives, my Wi-Fi networks operate flawlessly with fiber optics and private ASUS router.
When I try to start a new AirPlay session, Music will often won’t buffer. Even if it’s downloaded content.
Also, when I actually AirPlay music, sometimes the volume is not synchronized leading to drastic jumps between the volume levels. This been a thing for quite some time.
AirPlay 2 aside, AM music is trash in 2024. Unfortunately I’m balls deep in the eco system.
Any idea how to fix this or a workaround? This is getting mildly infuriating..

Question/Support Why is Siri so stupid?
I got a HomePod Mini this week. I've been trying to work with Siri but it's just too much.
I changed from Spotify to Apple Music just so that Siri could work better, but it kept still playing from Spotify. It's not smart enough to understand "Make Apple Music my default music app".
The most frustrating: I said "Hey Siri, play some ambient music for reading". It starts playing Reading to Sleep ASMR. And I'm screaming NOOO (which I feel like should be a feature to stop Siri's action). I then said, "Never play me ASMR" and it starts to play one again...
It's been well over a decade since Siri came out and it feels like I'm trying to get a toddler to do basic things. What are some cool commands that you use often?

Question/Support Any tips on hiding the power cable?
Other than what I’ve done here, what are your tips for hiding the power cord? I’m not a big fan of how this looks, but I want it in my kitchen and this is the best I’ve come up with. Would love to hear/see what you all have done.

Question/Support Apple's worst product?
This might not be new, but seriously, is the Apple HomePod Mini the worst thing they've ever done? The software is SO buggy it's insane. Controlling it via your phone is near on impossible as it just glitches.
I know they haven't done many inspiring devices of late but it's junk.
Does anyone else have the same issue? Especially Siri. Absolute crap.

Question/Support Elevate these HomePods?
Looking for some advice here. Should I try to find a shelf to place underneath the HomePods to elevate them a bit or leave them as is? And what about distance left/right of the screen? (This is a 75” display). I appreciate any thoughts. Thank you!

Question/Support New to HomePods
Hey guys, recently ordered a HomePod 2nd Gen and being delivered later this week. Never owned a smart speaker before. I just wanted to ask. Excuse my ignorance, I’ll be honest, I didn’t buy it for smart home features etc. I only bought it just to listen to music and podcasts for my bedroom on my desk for studying or working from home. I heard the quality of audio is very good. From what I understand, you only need an iPhone, iPad, MacBook to be compatible with the HomePod. And to setup, do you need to use the Home App or your iPhone, and iPad? Once again, never owned one before. Looking forward getting it. Always wanted a smart speaker or good speaker. Wasn’t cheap😅

Question/Support This update interface is just so useless
Do they update one HomePod at a time? Why don’t they show the update process for each HomePod instead of one overall one? And while we’re talking about that overall circle update progress bar, that thing jumps around back-and-forth all over the place so there’s no way of telling just how long the update is taking. Why?

Question/Support Finally got a second HomePod to use with my Apple TV. What movie would you use to show off the sound mix on these (with Dolby Atmos preferred)?
Edit: consensus seems to be Dune and the Star Wars films are great choices.
