🐜 ID This Bug What is biting me?

A few weeks ago I got similar bites that popped up after gardening at a retirement village I work at. They went away after a few days. I went to my job yesterday again and similar thing has happened. At some point yesterday I had some black ants on me which I brushed off, Im thinking it was them. But when I google any bites fire ants come up and I'm sure it isn't fire ants. This is the fourth time it has happened now. Yes I wear gloves!! Only happens at this job. One time I know for sure it was ants as I had to go to the bathroom to make sure there weren't anymore under my shirt.

Has anyone else had similar experience? I went to the GP last time and she said folliculitis and gave me antibiotics but it's not that as there's no infection and they go down after a few days.

🐜 ID This Bug Is this larva a friend or foe?

I live in Brisbane and my lawn is full of these little larvae / grubs. The magpies swing by regularly and pull them up from the ground to munch on them.

I’m just curious. Are these a friend or foe from my perspective as a fruit / vegetable gardener. Does anyone know what they grow up into?

🐜 ID This Bug Help, what is eating the skins off our lemons?

Hi all, we walked out to our normally prosperous lemon tree to find several lemons both on the ground and still on the tree with the rinds completely eaten off and the flesh left over. Does anyone know which pest could be responsible and how we can manage it? We've had this tree for about 20-25 years and have never seen this before. We are located in Melbourne, VIC.

Would anyone know what sort of animal(s) could be digging these holes underneath the fence and what I can do about them? They're around a couple of sides of the backyard and are about 10-12cm in diameter. Location is South West Sydney

Have this caterpillar on my ficus. Just noticed it by chance and want to avoid others touching it. Obviously with its omega shenron spikes on its back it must pack a sting if provoked.

What are these white bugs investing my little plant. They leave a web like sticky residue, which I first though was from the flowers as that's where it was most common. I thought they might be mealybugs, but apparently not.

Have tried picking them off, isopropyl wipes, insect spray, they just seem to be growing. Plus they seem to be causing the leaves and flowers to fall away as they're clustering in those areas.

Should I just cut my losses and start new?

Based in Sydney near bicentennial Park.

**Side note, caterpillars are smashing my mint and basil. We check and pick off what we can find most days and have used a spray and they keep on coming back.

I was taking care of my lemon tree when I looked down and discovered all of those holes in my crappy lawn. There are lots of them. Some are bigger than others, and some have some sort of web to it. What am I looking at? Location is northern suburbs of Melbourne.

🐜 ID This Bug New gardener - what is eating my apricots?

Mornington Peninsula, Vic. Bought a house here last August. Never owned a fruit tree in my life. This place came with a few. It’s been quite the learning curve in the last 18 months! πŸ˜‚

Didn’t even know this was an Apricot tree until it was too late last year - I never saw a single fruit, only found the stones on the ground - seems the birds and possums were eating them all very early on and we didn’t get any!

This year, as soon as flowering stopped and we started seeing a couple of teeny fruit, we threw a bird net over it. Did that wrong too, but oh well you live and learn and next year I will work out some kind of structure to hang the net on so that it doesn’t touch the tree.

Anyway. FINALLY looked like some ripe fruit on it this week so I lifted the net off and now we’re faced with fruit where every single one of them (the ripe ones at least!!) has a hole in the bottom of them :(

Picked a bunch of them, took them inside, soaked them in water, and we had a mixture of ants, plus these big ugly looking insects come out of the holes in the fruit.

So, is the it big things (what are they??) that make the hole, and the ants are just opportunistic things attracted to the sweet fruit?

What should I be doing for the remainder of the fruit on the tree (there’s probs another 60-ish fruit that aren’t ready to pick yet) to keep them safe? And what should I be doing next year to save the lot?

Thanks for any help, folks!!

I’ve never seen anything like this in person that wasn’t on TV or behind a glass screen at a zoo. Are they harmful or is it just big and ugly? In Victoria.

Just realise I have a small beehive under my roof, can anyone identify it? What should I do? Will it get bigger? Should I remove it while it’s a small hive? (About 5cm) I live in Melbourne suburb. All advices appropriated.
