This ok to be on my basil plant?

Just seeing if having this bug on my basil is fine, or is it a pest? I have noticed something is eating the leaves but not sure if it is this.

I only intervene if my plants start suffering. We need insects in our gardens to feed birds lizards etc.

It's a katydid. It'll eat virtually nothing and move on. IDK what state you're in but in QLD its serious grasshopper season and they'll really strip your plants.

Basil mint more specifically. It's a perennial.

It’s a grasshopper. It's bird food. Lizards eat them too. If nothing is eating your plants, your garden isn’t part of the ecosystem
