This ok to be on my basil plant? ๐Ÿœ ID This Bug

Just seeing if having this bug on my basil is fine, or is it a pest? I have noticed something is eating the leaves but not sure if it is this.

I only intervene if my plants start suffering. We need insects in our gardens to feed birds lizards etc.

Good attitude to have.

It's a katydid. It'll eat virtually nothing and move on. IDK what state you're in but in QLD its serious grasshopper season and they'll really strip your plants.

Thanks. NSW. Thinking there must be a caterpillar or something I haven't been able to see then.

What type of basil is that?

Basil mint more specifically. It's a perennial.

Itโ€™s a grasshopper. It's bird food. Lizards eat them too. If nothing is eating your plants, your garden isnโ€™t part of the ecosystem
