What old cars are you frugal people nursing through life? 🚗 Auto

I remember the older generations would buy a car and drive it for two or three decades. Today it is pretty popular to replace a vehicle regularly. What are some old vehicles you all are still driving. I’m stuck in the early 2000s, because they are new enough to have some features, yet, mostly simple to service.

A 1999 F150 with around 170k miles. Unfortunately for me, it's on its last legs; nursed it as long as I could afford to and now it just needs too much, so I forsee a lot of walking in my future. :)

Those things are very dependable. The 4.2 is a little less dependable though. I’ve had several with 250-350k on them

It has the 4.6 which has been pretty solid. I bought the truck about 6 years ago for $2300 so I cannot complain as I've gotten a lot out of it. But... the rear main seal is leaking and the flywheel is warped (at least that's what I was told when I last had the starter replaced). I used to do a lot of the work on it myself but I became disabled last year so that kinda went out the window. It has a lot of other issues but I don't wanna bore anyone with the details lol.

2002 Ford F-150. The big work truck used for construction. Still going strong. It is idling weird. My husband can't figure out why.

We are planning to buy a new truck. We are moving to the Pacific Coast after living in the same state for thirty plus years. We don't want to be stranded with truck problems in a new state where we don't really know anyone. It will be out retirement truck.

You've managed to push it for a very long time so that's something to feel good about

Indeed. With all the things it's been through I cannot complain really. :)
