I even played the original and didn’t remember that chariot dude. I thought that was something they added to the remake.

It was just a regular enemy in original. But just like im remake you could steal an Aerith weapon from it. Strong weapon too for that point in the game.

Yeah just like the big Hell House, they are just basic run in enemies that they turned into full blown boss fights.

Oh ok, that’s probably why I didn’t remember it.

He is worth encountering since you can steal a very good early weapon for Aerith from him.

Ah, the nostalgia...

The pillar was so impressive to see in Remake. It always felt like a little staircase in the OG I never really grasped that it was literally holding up a plate and even the size of the plate itself was lost on me in the original design

Midgar overall got a size boost. The plate was only 50m up in the original but 300m in Remake, iirc.

Train graveyard was way too frickin long in Remake.

In my first playthrough which was years ago it felt like it took forever, in my second which is a few days ago it felt like it ended quickly, how come?

Every sequence was stretched out unnecessarily long, lol. That’s the Remake series in a nutshell.

u/mikeysce 7h ago

True, but I sincerely enjoyed it for the most part. But that Train Graveyard and the Shina Mansion in Rebirth (especially the solo Cait Sith part)… Boooooooring….

Yeah but it’s fantastic and I’m glad they are doing it like that

Different strokes.

You can still scroll through the others, part 2 isn't available anymore unfortunately because it was taken down by the mods. I haven't heard if they have made it to where everyone can see it again yet.

Looks like the recent original release with smoothed polygons

my critical self wants to talk about how much more incredible the remake looks in comparison. my nostalgia brain says NOPE! CLASSIC FOREVER!

Seeing these makes me want to skip my playthrough of OG7 and jump straight into 7 Remake/Rebirth.

I played OG7 like 20 years ago when I was only 8 or 9 so I barely remember anything from it, but seeing the new graphics in the remakes is jaw dropping!

Bright colors to show depth to distinguish backgrounds, recognizable silhouettes of characters and a complete story? Is there nothing the OG doesn’t do better?

I hated how Remake did the scene in the first screencap, with both ladies an equidistant amount from Cloud. Had a very unsubtle "oooh which one are you gonna choose?" vibe to it the OG didn't have.
