Moving Moving to Everett in March!
Hello all! I am moving to Everett in March for work, and I am deep in the apartment hunting. I will be working near the Paine Field Airport and would like to be relatively close.
I am looking for an apartment/house/townhome that has a garage, and only need one bedroom. Also would like washer and dryer in the unit.
Any recommendations? Ideally I would like an attached garage for my boat, but detached could work too if it is a bigger apartment complex with a gym etc. As for price point, I am not super constrained here. I just want something nice and safe.
Thanks for all your time!

Our Neighbors Condo parking dilemma
I just bought a condo in a small building in south Everett. 6 units, 2 spots per unit. That was a major selling point, because I have 2 cars. But I haven't been able to bring my other car up from storage because someone is always parking in one of my spots. They are numbered, and the spots are deeded with the units. I'm tempted to bring the car up and just tow whatever car is improperly in my spot when I come back with the other car, but my family is saying that's a dick move. I'm autistic and ADHD. I hate it when people fuck with my stuff, but just talking to everyone in all units is super overwhelming. I thought about writing a note and taping it to every door introducing myself, saying that I'm using both of my spots and I'll have people towed who park there without permission, but I don't know if that's any better than just towing. I thought of getting signs that say that they are reserved for my unit and unauthorized vehicles will be towed, but that's apparently a dick move too. I'm lost.

Homes Water heater replacement
I have a 50gal electric heater that's reached EOL, and Beacon plumbing quoted me $4k to replace it. That seems really steep since I can order one from HD and have it delivered for $1k, so where is the other $3k coming from?
Also thinking about going tankless (not heat pump) but wondering what people's experience has been with that up here since their efficiency is affected by inlet water temperature.

Urban Development coyote love
If your cat or small dog dies because you let them outside unsupervised, it is your fault. Domestic animals are desensitized from natural instincts because of human dependence. Letting them outside is equivalent to helping your pet commit suicide. WDFW recommends keeping cats indoor only.
The coyote in this photo is suffering from sarcoptic mange, common in foxes and coyotes. Studies suggest that the average lifespan for an animal in the wild with mange is roughly 4-6 months. Mange itself is not fatal, but many of these animals develop skin infections that lead to sepsis, or they die of malnutrition/starvation, or on colder nights they succumb to hypothermia. It's tragic, heartbreaking, and 100% avoidable. Studies show the actual cause of mange in the wild is largely the effect of rat poison (rodenticides) after a predator eats a poisoned mouse, rat, mole, vole, etc. Please stop using poisons.

Electrician Recommendation in Everett area
Hey all.
I need to install some can overhead lights in a room, a new kitchen overhead light, and add a couple of outlets in a room.
The electrician we used for years for small projects like this has retired. Can anyone recommend someone they have used recently?
Thanks!

Food Asking Home brewers: anyone have a alcometer I could use to test a drink?
My kid got suddenly ill yesterday and the only thing he had that was different was sparkling apple cider. I drank some last night and a little today and I swear I'm feeling a little buzzed. I'd like to know whether or not we accidentally got a bad batch. I know that it's incredibly unlikely.
I hoping someone has an alcometer to test the leftover portion. I can come to you and you can run the test. I would be incredibly grateful and my kid will be grateful to be able to play with friends sooner rather than later. And if it is positive, I will report this to the health department.

Commerce Crawl Space Service Recs?
I’ve been kicking this can down the street for a while now, but I need to get someone to inspect my crawl space. I anticipate some service as well, such as replacing the moisture barrier, reattaching or replacing some insulation, or resealing ducts.
Getting into the crawl space is an absolute nonstarter for me. I’m physically able, but completely refuse to do it myself.
Does anyone have a company or individual who they’d recommend?

Recycle Old Shoes
Is there anywhere in Everett or Snohomish Country to recycle old shoes? Talking about shoes with holes in them and not in the condition to donate to goodwill. Wanted to check to see if there is a place to recycle them instead of throwing them in the garbage.

Our Neighbors happy holidays and happy new year from root beer!!! (misc. update)
gallerythis month kicked my ass but I wanted to share some fun news beyond BAC...
many of of you know I run the non-profit but not everyone knows my full-time gig is the director of the marysville boys and girls club. we have 58 students total... 80% living well below the poverty line... 20% of that 80 are currently on the verge of homelessness or are currently homeless.
it has been an enormous privilege to advocate for these students and their families. that being said... ya boy was scheming this holiday season to make it a memorable one 😈
through a collaboration with the unchained brotherhood, a sober biker gang based in snohomish county, and the very hard work of boys and girls club staff, we were able to make sure all 58 of our families were taken care of...
10 toys per student: 580 toys total approx. 22 younger siblings: 220 toys bikes donated: 25!! total toys donated: 800!!!!!!!!!
our big yellow van, dolly, was filled to the brim with toys and bikes. it was very rewarding to get everything in the hands of families that need it the most and I'm so excited to see them after the winter break.
have a wonderful holiday friends!!

Moving Apartments
Hello all! My fiancée (29NB) and I (29TM) are looking to move to your city in the next 2 months. We are looking for an apartment that is pet-friendly with parking available on-site. Our budget is anything <$2,300. We would prefer a 1-bedroom or larger. Ideally, within 30mins drive of Providence Swedish Everett Medical Center. We are looking for recommendations on places that might fit those parameters. Thanks so much!

Sports and Outdoors Snow and sledding
Looking to take my family out for some winter fun. My sons (10, 14, 15) want to see the snow and enjoy it. We have snow tubes and are open to do a little sledding - a hill or a formal location is fine.
Thought of going tomorrow on Christmas Day, thinking less people will be out and about so it will be slightly less crowded.
Wondering what spots are the most accessible and least likely to have me stranded in traffic for hours on end.
Considered heading towards these locations Mt Baker, Stevens Pass, or Leavenworth. I’m not very familiar with the area so reaching out here.
Thanks in advance!
Disclaimer: I realize this is a heavy travel time of year and very likely there will be crowds no matter what. Also I have 4 wheel drive vehicle.

Local News Port of Everett to remove derelict barge early next year
heraldnet.comBy: Eliza Aronson
EVERETT — Just north of the Bay Wood nature trails, out on the Snohomish River mudflats, a 60-foot-long derelict barge breaks the horizon line.
But on Wednesday, the Port of Everett signed off on a plan to remove the barge this winter.
“The bay has been a focal point of environmental cleanup” for the port, said Chief of Planning & Development Erik Gerking. “The barge has been identified for many years as being a habitat improvement project, and we were lucky to obtain Department of Natural Resource derelict vessel removal grant funding this year to have that removed.”
Derelict vessels can leak pollutants, and as they degrade, migrating pieces can become hazards for wildlife, recreationalists and nearby boaters.

Food Street tamales?
My wife is hankering for out-of-the-back-of-the-car tamales. We live in Lake Stevens, and she's willing to drive a little to get some homemade tamales instead of hitting up restaurants in the area.
Anyone know where we can find someone selling homemade tamales?

Lost & Found Stop letting your cats outside
I am so sick and tired of seeing people's cats wandering around and even worse, running in front of me and almost killing themselves when I'm driving. Not only are outdoor cats much more likely to catch diseases, get run over or eaten by predators, but even more importantly numerous studies have proven that they absolutely decimate native wildlife and have caused the extinction of many bird and small mammal species in places like Australia and New Zealand. Letting cats roam free is a blatant crime against nature that no government has yet to fully address or enforce (hopefully that will change eventually), and it doesn't matter if they "want to go outside". If they get run over, it is never the driver's fault, it's always the person that let them outside. Please save everyone the trauma of hitting a cat and keep them inside

Moving Housing near Target?
I’m looking to buy a house near target on Everett mall way. How’s the area like? I’m worried about safety. School rating is not a priority but wouldn’t hurt if it’s good.

Our Neighbors Thank you to the Dutch Bros (Broadway) employee this morning 🩷
Been having a rough go this time of year with my husband's grandmother passing away, scrambling to get my parents out of a dangerous living situation, and my dad falling and fracturing his spine. With my dad's situation we've been scrambling to get him everything he needs. So my birthday today didn't feel very happy.
Thank you for being so kind. 🩷 It means a lot to me.

Food Teriyaki Express at the Everett Mall…closed?
I went to pick up something for dinner last night, and they were closed, looked like the space was being gutted. I guess I should have seen it coming, since the other food places next to it had closed. Does anybody know if this is a permanent closure, or if they will be back once the mall is remodeled? I would totally understand if they decided to retire, I have been eating their food since I was a kid (since the 90’s!), but I’m sad I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye/thank you. Their fried rice is sooooo good, one of my fave teriyaki spots, for sure. 😢
